Chapter 17: Checkmate

(KAYLA'S POV)

The night was nearly perfect. The movie was super hilarious, I almost peed myself laughing. You probably didn't want to know that. Heh, oh well. I had to practically sit on Zayn's lap, because stupid Liam stole my seat. He didn't mind at all...but it didn't help me get rid of my feelings for him.

If I could date him, I would. There was only two things in the Way: first, im dead sure he doesnt like me back.

And second, hes a popstar. He travels all across the world, and has thousands of much prettier girls at his feet. Dismissing the thought, I fell into a blissful sleep. Which is weird, cuz it's a comedy movie and only 5 minutes ago I was laughing my face off. Whatever....I'm not a normal person.

The last thing I remember before drifting to sleep was two arms wrap around my waist.

(ZAYNS POV)

The credits scrolled up the screen, signaling the end of the movie. We were all laughing loudly, except for Kayla.

Her head rested softly on my shoulder...she was basically laying on top of me. I actually kind of liked that. I snaked my arms around her waist...why did this feel so right? I've decided. I'm not going to try and swat away my feelings for this girl. I watched her as her beautiful features rested peacefully.

She's asleep. Smiling, I turned to the boys.

"I'm going to carry Kayla to her bed...she's asleep." I told them. Louis raised his eyebrows.

"You like her, don't you." Niall said.

"What? Whaaaat? No...." I scoffed unconvincingly.

"Yeah right. We see the way you look at her, mate." Liam said.

"Mhm." Louis nodded, giving me a sassy look that clearly read 'we can see right through your act'. I sighed and slowly nodded.

"Fine. I do like her. Be right back." I rushed out if the room, Kayla's small figure scooped in my Arms.
