Chapter 6 - Maddy's Still Alive?
21:29, 31 January 2013Chapter 6 – Maddy's Still Alive?
The Doctor's P.O.V.
3 Months later...
“Doctor! Me and Rory will be back in a bit! We just got to grab a few things from the shops. Do you need anything?” Amy called out from the doors.
“No, I'm fine thanks.” I shouted back.
“Okay. See you in a bit.” She yelled, before the door slammed shut.
It's been three months now. Three months since Madison. It's all getting better, slowly. We've been on a few adventures, to try and take my mind on it. But nothing seems to move Maddy from my head.
A few weeks back, I got a letter in the TARDIS from the Law Courts Of The Universe. River had filed for divorce against me. It all finished 3 days ago. I was now a free and single man. Bit too late really. Would have been helpful three months ago!
Amy and Rory have been brilliant. They supported me with everything, but still remained close with River. After our first argument after Maddy died, I finally found them and said sorry. They forgave me and I took them to a romantic planet, where they could spend time alone.
I still missed Madison. Of course I did! It was impossible not too. I think even Amy and Rory do. But she was gone now and I have to move on. I was just doing it slowly. As mush as Amy and Rory were good company, it was nice to have another Time Lord around.
“Oh come on then, Doctor. Lets get a move on.” I muttered to myself, as I pulled myself from the chair.
I trudged up the TARDIS steps, before walking along the corridor. I finally reached the Wardrobe and walked over to my collection of bow ties. I pulled them all out, until I found my red one. I pulled off the one I was wearing and threw it behind me. I attached my new one and was about to leave, until something caught my eye.
My bow tie had landed on a pile of clothes. Madison's clothes to be exact. The clothes she had wore to the beach, on our date. I walked over to them and picked them up. As I did, something fell from them and hit the floor.
Her phone.
I picked it up and tried to unlock it,only to see a password was needed. I dropped the clothes and ran back to the console room. I quickly pulled a few wires from the main console and wired them into the phone. I pulled my Sonic Screwdriver out and zapped the phone, only for it to become unlocked.
Everything from her phone, showed up on the TARDIS screen, so I click on Gallery. Many photo's of previous version's of Maddy showed up, then my Maddy was there. There were multiple pictures of her, Martha and Mickey. Her on missions. Even a picture of her with an orange Dalek!
Then, there was a picture of us two. It was from our date on the beach, in the middle of our sandcastle competition. I remember it exactly.
*~Flashback~*
“You're going to lose, Doctor. So you might as well give up now.” Maddy shouted, calmly piling more sand onto her pile.
I was a mess. I was sweating like crazy, while running round pilling sand onto my 'castle'. Meanwhile, Madison was calmly building up hers.
God, she was hot. Her blonde hair was blowing lightly in the wind, as her skin was already glowing with a tan from the sun. Her pink bikini hugged her figure perfectly, while her eyes sparkled from the reflection from the sea.
“Doctor? YOOHOO! Doctor!” Madison cried waving her hands in front of me.
“duceiwgvcwbeuwevbi....Sorry, what?” I mumbled, still in a daze.
“You were staring at me. Why?” She asked, placing her hands on hips.
“Just admiring you!” I smirked.
“Take a picture. It will last longer. Ohh! That gives me an idea!” She smiled, before dragging me over to our set out stuff.
“What does?”
“A picture! I need it to remember today. As a memory!” She explained, picking up her phone.
“I don't really do pictures, Maddy.” I replied, only to be met by her disappointed face.
“Oh...Okay. I understand. Just a thought.” She muttered, dropping her phone and my hand.
“Maddy...Sorry, I...”
“No, it's fine. Just leave It.” Madison whispered, going back to her sandcastle.
I sighed, as I watched her carefully add more sand to her castle. She didn't seem the same. Her shoulders sagged and her eyes didn't seem to sparkle anymore. It's not like I didn't want a photo. I just never knew what to do in them and found them awkward. I sighed again, before picking up her phone and and walking up behind her.
“Maddy? How do you work this thing?” I asked, pressing the buttons on the phone.
“Huh? What are you doing with my iPhone?”
“Trying to get the camera up.”
“It has a passcode on it. Give it here. Why do you want the camera?” She said, as I passed her the phone.
“You want a picture. So, I want a picture. Come on. When you're ready!” I smiled, putting an arm round her waist.
“You sure?”
“Yes! Hurry up!”
“Thank you.” She mumbled, pulling me into a hug.
“No problem. Now, come on. How do we pose?” I asked, earning a smile from her.
“Dunno. Just do what you feel is right.” She replied, putting an arm around me while holding the camera out in front.
“Gee, great help!” I said, rolling my eyes.
I struggled to think of what to do, before I thought of it. I quickly pushed an arm around her waist and pressed my lips to her cheek. Maddy counted down from three, before the flash went off. I moved my lips from Maddy's cheek, as she pulled the phone round to look at the picture.
“Wow. It's...” She began to say.
“Perfect.” I finished, placing another kiss to her cheek.
“I was going to say okay. I mean you look great. But me... Eh.” She replied, scrunching her face up.
“What do you mean? What's wrong with it?” I asked.
“I smiled instead of pouted. Which I never do because my smile is wonky. My hair is a complete mess. I eyes just look dodgy. I have no make-up on. And I'm stood next to you. Which make me look worse, because you're better looking than me.” She explained, looking down-hearted.
“Please don't say you believe any of that.”
“I'm only telling you the truth.” She sighed, going to delete the picture before I grabbed her phone from her.
“No, you're are only lying to me. You're are beautiful, Madison, and this picture proves it. Don't pick out you're flaws because you have none. I've never met anybody in the universe who is as amazing as you.” I smiled, earning a kiss from her.
“You're perfect, you know that?” She said, pulling away from me.
“As are you. Now, come on. We've got sandcastles to finish.”
*~Flashback~*
I continued to stare at the picture and I didn't notice I was crying until I felt something wet on my cheek. I quickly wiped them away, as I brushed my spare hand over the picture.
“Oh, Madison. I'm so sorry. In the end you were just another life I messed up.” I sighed, clicking off the photo.
I went back onto the normal TARDIS computer system and typed in Madison's name. Her file showed up and I clicked on, to be greeted by her information.
Name: Madison Lauren Kristin BrownAge: 874Birth Planet: GallifreyBirth Date: 18th August 1139Death Date: 28th October 2012
The 28th October 2012: one of the worst dates of my life.
I shook my head of the thoughts, as I clicked on the transfer file. I sent everything from Madison's phone onto her file, before crouching down under the console. I pulled out a box marked 'M' and opened it up. I kissed Maddy's phone, before placing it inside and shutting the lid.
I stood back up and went to turn the screen of, but something started to go wrong. The screen began to fuzzy and the words began to scrambled. I hit the screen a few times before it returned to normal.
Except this time. Madison's death date had gone.
“What the....” I trailed off, thumping the screen a few more times.
Nothing changed on the screen, so I pulled it round to the keyboard. I typed in a few things before loads of information about Madison's file all appeared at once. Finally the recent changes showed up and I couldn't believe what I was reading.
Change: Death date of a Miss Madison Lauren Kristin Brown erased.Changer: U.N.I.T.Reason: Not real death date.
“Not real death date...” I muttered, re-reading the words over and over.
Not a real death date. What on Earth could that mean? Why had U.N.I.T. changed her death date. Maddy died. I was there and so was U.N.I.T. So why would they change it? Time to pay U.N.I.T a visit, I think.
I put my hand inside my jacket pocket, before pulling out my phone. I quickly unlocked it and dialed Amy's phone.
Ring...
Ring...
Ring...
Ri...
“Before you say anything, NO! I am not buying you anymore bow ties.” Amy sighed, down the phone.
“I wasn't going to ask that, Amy. But I need you back here quickly.” I replied, starting to set up the TARDIS for flight.
“Why? Oh no, what have you done now?”
“Nothing! But we need to pay a visit to some old friends.”
“Who?” She asked.
“U.N.I.T.”
“What? Why them? I thought we never wanted to see them again... y'know... after everything last time.” Amy explained, trying to talk carefully about the subject.
“Amy. It's to do with Madison. Please. I need to check this out.” I said, a lot more calmer.
“To do with Maddy?”
“Yeah.”
“We'll be there as soon as we can.” Amy replied, before hanging up the phone.
I quickly ran round the TARDIS setting the coordinates for the main U.N.I.T. base, before sitting down on the seat. I sat waiting nervously for 15 minutes, before the door flew open.
“Hey, it's us. Sorry we took so long. Somebody needed new shoes.” Rory called out, earning an eye roll from Amy.
“Hey! They were nice and in the sale. I wasn't going to miss a bargain. Anyway, what's going on?” Amy asked, as they dropped their bags and made their way up to the console.
“We need to visit U.N.I.T.” I replied, jumping over to the console.
“Yeah, but why?”
“Look.” I said, showing them the screen. They looked over the screen, as their faces became more confused.
“Not real death date. What does that mean?” Amy asked, turning to face me.
“I have no idea. But U.N.I.T must have a reason for saying Madison isn't dead. That's why we need to visit them.”
“Okay. But Doctor. Don't get your hopes about Maddy or anything, okay? I hate seeing you upset.” Amy smiled, patting my arm.
“I know, Amy. I won't.” I reassured her, giving her a quick smile.
I ran round the console flicking a few switches, before the TARDIS began to rattle round with flight. I clutched hold of the console, while everything shook around. We soon landed with a thud and I stood up and ran to the doors. I pulled open the doors, before running outside to earn the attention of the workers.
“'Ello, U.N.I.T! Me again! Been three months since I seen you, don't know for you, But I need a chat with someone. It's about a Madison Brown. Well? Come on then! Someone step up and talk!” I shouted, sounding harsher than I meant to.
“Captain Rachel Minnet, Sir.” A woman said, standing in front of me and saluting.
“Right. Great! I'm The Doctor. Nice to meet you. You in charge?” I asked, getting to the point.
“Yes I am, Sir.”
“Good. One, stop calling me 'sir'. Two, why did you lot change Madison Brown's death date.”
“We wondered when you would turn up about that. Would you like to follow me, Doctor? I can....” Captain Rachel began to say.
“No. You stay here with me and you tell me. U.N.I.T changed Maddy's death date and said it wasn't her real death date. It is her death date. The 28th of October 2012! U.N.I.T was there, I was there. She died in my arms because my ex-wife shot her. She did die, so why have you changed her death date?” I snapped, blinking back the tears.
“You're right, Doctor. It was her right death date."
“THEN WHY DID YOU CHANGE IT?!”
“Because it's not her death date anymore!” Captain Rachel replied, staying calmer than me.
“What? What the hell does that mean?”
“U.N.I.T. have been working on a project for a while now. We found a large amount of unidentified energy in London. It was a walkway into another world too. We tested it for a while and found out going through it could have the power to bring life. So, we set up the project and needed to test it on somebody. When we found out Madison had died, we thought she was perfect for this project. So we sent her into the energy, only to find she was taken to the other place and we couldn't get her back.” She explained, looking concerned.
“Wait, what? You mean... Maddy is still alive?” I breathed, my head rushing around with thoughts.
“Yes, Doctor. Madison is alive and well. But she's stuck in Earth's parallel universe.”
