Chapter 5: Oh god

I walked towards the school looking at my phone as I see some upcoming tasks. Apparently today Rimura sensei is gonna confirm our trip for tomorrow.

"Oi Tanji" I heard Sengoku's voice from behind.

I turned around to see him walking towards me along with Remi.

"Good Morning you two" I replied.

"Morning" Remi replied.

"Yeah, good morning. I just hope we don't have to get more people other than the student council to go for the trip" Sengoku said.

"Starting the day with a hopeful attitude, not something that you, in particular, are usually into," I said as we three started walking towards the school entrance. 

"Yeah but I just don't wanna go on this trip if I be honest to you" Sengoku added.

"It'll be fun Sengoku Kun!" Remi added.

"I hope so..." he sighed.

As we entered the school premises changing our shoes for indoors one and locking our lockers we headed straight for our classroom.

Getting seated, I couldn't help but notice to see Kono san, not in the class. Did her injury not get better? but she said it did.....

"Morning" I heard a familiar voice coming from near the door.

I turned around to see a smiling Kono-san entering the class.

"Morning Kono-san" I replied smiling.

"Ah! Kono-san!!" Remi cheered seeing her best friend enter the class.

"Morning Kono-san" Sengoku replied.

She took her seat as our eyes met again, this time a smile appeared on my face and apparently so did on Kono-san's face aswell.

She turned around to face the board as Rimura sensei just entered the class carrying her subject books, if that wasn't enough the bell rang aswell indicating it's time for the first lecture.

[Time Skip]

"Alright, so I've decided I'm only taking you four on that trip" Rimura sensei said with her legs crossed sitting in the council room.

"I still don't know what our task is Sensei" I asked as I literally have no idea why are we even going there.

"We're just participating in interschool exercise to be precise, you four are representing Katagiri Senior high there" She replied.

"And what is this exercise?" Sengoku inquired.

"We're supposed to be helping middle school kids? If I recall correctly. We basically have to assist them on their field trip. There will be 3 schools participating in this. Ours, Sobu High and Minegahara High" She replied.

(What? are you gonna do a epicc crossover between all your reader x character fics?!)

"What all do we need to bring along" Remi asked with sparkling eyes.

"Uhm...since this is a two-day trip, I'd suggest you bring some pairs of clothes along with all your essentials. Meet me at the school entrance tomorrow at 7 AM, I'll drive you guys there" She replied.

"Sure" we all replied in unison.

"If you get any doubts, I believe you have my contact info. Just drop me a text there" she exitting the room.

"Yes mam" We replied.

"Chiba huh...let's see what this place is like" Sengoku said taking his phone out.

"It's mainly forest area and just countryside"

"Fo-forest area?" Sengoku asked with a hint of discomfort in his voice.

"It'll be so fun!" Remi cheered.

"I hope so" Kono-san added.

"Re-Remi, can I drop out of this plan" Sengoku suggested.

"No!! you're coming with us!" Remi said replied.

"Bu-but there will be insects in the forest!" Sengoku replied.

"They're not gonna eat you!!!!!!!" Remi exclaimed.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAH" he shouted out in confusion.

"How about we calm down first?" I suggested.

"Yeah, clam down you two. It's lunchtime, after all, let's just eat our lunch and talk it over later, 'kay?" Kono-san added calming the two down.

"Sure..." the two replied.

"So who's bringing the food from cafeteria today?" I said.

"Let's toss" Sengoku said placing his hand in front.

Alright, as all four of us placed our hands and on 3..2..1 when turned the hands over and unlucky Sengoku was the one who lost.

"Today is not a great day Remi, might aswell just get eaten by a bug" he replied.

"I'll come with you, don't be sad" she replied as the two exitted the room to bring in some sandwiches and soft drink from cafeteria.

"A straw-" Kono-san started.

"Bring a cola for me and a strawberry milk shake" I said out loud to be audible enough for the two.

"Yeah yeah" Sengoku sighed as they exited the room closing the door.

"You know my order pretty well" she smiled.

"I guess so" I gave her a smile back.

"Hey also...I" she said going towards the rack and removing a wrapped packet from it.

"Baked some...co-cookie...for you" she said blushing as she handed me the packet nervously.

"You didn't had to do it" I said gently accepting the packet.

"You helped me out a lot yesterday...specially with the...Injury" she replied.

I opened the packet as I took one bite out of this perfectly circle-shaped cookie. The crunchy treat was so delicious it almost gave me a foodgasm...holy shit.

"Wait did you change the chocolate or ingredients? this one is much more delicious than the last one, not that I didn't like that one. But these are too delicious!!" I said taking another one.

"I...I created the chocolate myself instead of buying from the market...is it really that good?" she replied. 

I took half a bit off this cookie chewing on it, "Here hawe one toow" I said eating the half of it.

She looked at the cookie and then at me while her cheeks went red? did I do something wrong?

"Oh you want a full cookie? here" I started taking another one out.

"No no! it'll be fine" she said taking the half cookie and eating it, with every chew I swear I could see her face get redder and redder.

"You okay? Kono-san?" I asked.

"Ye-yeah" she replied.

"Thank you for these cookies though...I really love them!" I replied.

"Hey Ta-Tanji kun" She spoke in a low voice.

"Yeah?" 

"I wanted to tell you something..." she said as her nervousness kicked in?

IS SHE CONFESSING!?

*Heart beat rises*

"W-what is it?" I asked.

"I...I...really" she started.

I gulped down.

"I really ap-appreciate the text from yes-yesterday" she replied.

Oh...so that was what she wanted to tell me back yesterday?

"The always part?" I asked.

"Ye-yeah" she nodded.

"Well, that's the truth. I'm here whenever you need me. Kono-san" I smiled.

The room went silent after those words as we both stood there looking at each other, the amplified of other students and the chirps of birds were the only two things filling this gap in the room.

We both on the other hand were looking at each other, I swear I could feel my ears heat up aswell.

"We're back" the door slammed open.

You two just had to ruin the moment didn't you!?

[Time Skip]

"Well, see ya tomorrow," I said seeing her off at an intersection near the river.

"Don't be late tomorrow" she chuckled.

"Are you guys gonna leave me if I'm late tomorrow?" I added to the joke.

"You know how Rimura sensei is" she added.

"OH TANJI KUN? Do I know you? oh sorry, I forgot you 15 mins ago when you were pronounced late" I mimic'd Rimura sensei.

"Haha, I can see that happening" she laughed.

"Alright, will see you tomorrow" I waved her off.

"Bye...Tanji kun" she smiled.

I have a few things to say about this wording that I heard from somewhere, If you wan't her to fall for you, make her laugh...

But it's complete bullshit. 

Every time she laughs, I'm the one who falls in love with her...

An interschool exercise huh? let's hope it turns out great....

I removed the cookie packet out of my pocket as I tossed another on in my mouth, now that I think of it...why did she hesitate so much to eat her own cookies?

I looked at the half bit cookie in my hand.

WAIT A MINUTE.....

THIS IS...

"A INDIRECT KISS?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?" I screamed. 

The sudden outburst on the road just made the passerby's look at me in suspiciously before they resumed in their life.

GOD I'm such a IDIOT
