"Sora?"

Jungwon called softly as he led her into the living room.

"This is Yeji noona.. my cousin"

Sora looked up, and the first thing she noticed was the woman's easy smile.

Yeji didn't look like a senior doctor at all.. dressed in casual jeans and a soft cream cardigan, her hair loose and her energy warm. Before Sora could even bow, Yeji stepped forward and pulled her into a hug.

"Oh my god, you're even prettier than he described"

Yeji beamed happily, rocking Sora slightly as she hugged her back.

"Well hiii, I'm Yeji, and I already love you"

Sora blinked, a little surprised, then laughed shyly.

"I.. it's nice to meet you"

"Likewise"

Yeji grinned, stepping back and holding her hands.

"You and your baby will be under my care from now on, so you're officially stuck with me okay?"

Yeji said playfully, whilst Jungwon chuckled at the sight.

"Now come on, Sora. Let's get you ready for your big moment."

Sora nodded as they both made their way to her room.

________

The ride to the courthouse was simple but surreal. Sora sat quietly in the backseat, her fingers fiddling with the thin material of her dress. The day felt too quiet for something so big.

She stared out the window, a tightness forming in her chest. Her parents don't even know. They're not here... no calls, no voices to say they're proud of her.

But next to her, Jungwon's hand reached for hers, strong and steady. She turned to him, and he gave a small smile.

"Don't overthink it"

He said quietly. And just like that, her heart stopped aching so badly.

Yeji stood with them at the courthouse, proudly signing as their witness. The ceremony was quick, no fancy vows, just a soft "I do" and the rustle of papers becoming memories. But the simplicity made it more sincere.

When Sora slipped the thin, elegant ring onto her finger, she stared at it for a moment longer than she intended. It sparkled quietly, just like the new life forming inside her.

_________

Later That Night. The house was quiet now. Yeji had left after dinner, hugging Sora again and reminding her to take the vitamins regularly, also promising to drop by next week.

Sora had changed into a loose cotton top and shorts, barefoot and fresh from a shower. Jungwon wore a plain white shirt and grey sweats, sitting on the bed against the headboard as she joined him.

They sat in silence at first.. comfortable, thoughtful. She curled up between his legs, resting her back lightly against his chest. His arms found their way around her automatically.

"It's simple and pretty, I really like it"

Her fingers played with the wedding ring as she murmured.

Jungwon looked down at her, chin resting on her shoulder. He didn't speak for a moment, just watched her. Watched how softly her eyes gleamed. How gentle she looked when she was at peace.

"I picked it, thought it'd look perfect on you.. and it does"

She looked up at him and smiled. There was something about the moment, quiet, but full of meaning. His hands slowly ran along her arms.

"Yeji.. she's really nice"

Sora spoke, shifting slightly to rest her cheek against his collarbone.

"It felt nice, like.. i mattered to someone new."

She smiled slightly, while Jungwon tightened his arms around her.

"You do matter. To me. To this baby. You're not on your own anymore."

The warmth of his voice wrapped around her like a second blanket.

"Thank you, for making all of this less terrifying"

She whispered with a breathy chuckle, as he leaned over and kissed her temple in response, a lingering kiss, full of silent promises.

They stayed that way for a while, just breathing in each other's presence, until a small shiver ran down her spine. A flicker of nerves. Excitement. Something unfamiliar but welcome.

"Mhm.. i feel weird" she said quietly, glancing up at him. "In a good way"

She added, scooting closer to him without breaking eye contact.

Jungwon looked down at her, and there was something deeper in his gaze now, something that made her chest tighten. His hand found her cheek, thumb brushing along the curve of it.

"It's our first night.. as husband and wife."

He said softly, and she didn't need him to say more.

Her lips found his.. soft and slow at first. His hands roamed her back with aching patience, like he wanted to memorize every inch. She sighed against his mouth as he gently laid her back against the pillows, moving above her with quiet reverence.

His touches were warm, delicate, yet purposeful, and she felt cherished.

The room was filled with their rhythms, unhurried and intimate, like two souls stitching themselves through their body.

The life ahead wasn't ideal, but still something, that the both of them were willingly ready to spend together, because as long they have each other, they were happy.

But does happiness lasts forever?
