A month has passed, and everything is going more than well, with just few more months and we’ll finally graduate. It will be a bittersweet feeling to no longer having the privilege of being students, but also starting a new chapter in life, and I can’t wait for that.
Currently, we were on our way to the annual bike racing competition, that happens once in a year. I tried to convince Jungwon to join us, but he didn’t agree, he must be studying.
When we arrived at the venue, the race was set to start in half an hour. We took our seats in the front row, and I noticed almost half of the people of our university present there. It felt like Jungwon was the only one who didn’t came.
Minutes passed with anticipation and excitement until the announcement was finally made, and the contestants began walking into the field one by one, wearing helmets. The crowd erupted in cheers for their favorites, but there was this one guy for whom nearly half of the audience were cheering.
"Johnny?"
I mumbled, since everyone had their helmets on, we couldn’t see their faces, and I wondered if they would reveal them after the race, because I really want to know who this Johnny guy is.
As the contestants got on their bikes, the race was about to begin. With a countdown to three, they took off at lightning speed.
The tension among the racers intensified as they circled the track, with two contestants falling down at one point while the others continued racing.
However, my attention kept being drawn to this Johnny guy because he looked somewhat familiar, maybe due to his physique. I shook that thought away and focused on the other racers, until realising, he hasn't captured only mine but the entire audience's attention with the way he was dominating the race.
Now just two minutes left until the finish, the crowd fell silent as everyone watched Johnny and two other contestants racing side by side, equally competitive.
Then, in an instant, those two minutes felt like mere seconds as we watched him cross the finish line, leaving the others behind and winning the race effortlessly.
"AAH I KNEW IT HE'D WIN"
I covered my ears as hanni next to me screamed and jumped on her seat while everyone stood and cheered, the chant for him was crazy.
As we clapped, the organizer approached with the trophy, and Johnny finally got off his bike.
My heartbeat quickened suddenly for I didn't even knew what reason, all I could think about was the moment he would take off his helmet.
I huffed and shook my head, feeling so affected that I wasn't even ready to see his face. The crowd fell silent once again, waiting for him to reveal himself, and my heart thumped harder, as if it might leap out of my chest.
Finally, he removed his helmet, but he was facing the other side of he audience. The cheers and screams erupted again as he pushed his hair back and scanned the crowd.
It seemed like he was looking for someone, and when he didn’t find them, he turned around. Time seemed to freeze for a moment as I took in the sight of him.
This cannot be real
Johnny is Jungwon?
He scanned the crowd again while I sat frozen in my spot, for a moment, I even wondered if my eyes were betraying me, because why would he be here? And who was he looking for? Several questions were running through my mind.
I nearly stopped breathing when his gaze landed on me, and he didn’t look away. Instead, he gave a slow smile.
This isn't going to be good
