Chapter 13- Into the Woods

_Two Months Later_

Disclaimer: So I know it can get a bit confusing when seeing which stories uploaded especially if they take soo long to upload (hehe sorry) and I hate having to reread the last chapter so here is a small recap of where we left off, so Anne and Gilbert went on an adventure and visited Anne's favorite tree and then after they went to Green Gables and Gilbert stayed for dinner with the Cuthberts and they also talked about their past and it was really cute anyway so lets move on.

"Is there ever something as wonderful as trees?" asked Anne as Gilbert and her walked down the forest.

"What about flowers?" Gilbert said as he picked one up from the ground and handed it to Anne.

"Well I do suppose flowers are quite wonderful too" Anne said as she looked at the flower and delicately touched its petals.

Anne and Gilbert were friends...

and friends walked to school together of course she would never tell Diana and Ruby because they would throw a huge fit. Anne would always prepare a clever excuse on why she didn't walk with them.

"I wanted to look at some trees so I took a different path" she remembers telling the girls.

"Did you read the book I told you about?" Anne asked

"I haven't had a chance to read it yet, the internship at the doctor's office has filled all my time" Gilbert said

"Well you must get a chance to read it soon, it has knights, kings and daring princesses with adventures to far off places and daring sword fights!!" Anne said pretending to be fighting someone with a sword

Gilbert chuckled

"I'll try to read it today" Gilbert responded.

As they walked down the forest they stumbled to a broken small house and small pieces of clay on the ground.

"What's this?" Gilbert stopped to look at the destroyed wreck.

"Oh, this use to be our story place. Diana, Ruby and I use to come here to write stories, along with Cole who made clay statues." She paused for a second and frowned

"But some wretched boys who shall not be named, destroyed it...I miss it so dearly, I long to go inside one more time and write just a single story" Anne said with a sigh.

Gilbert looked at the wreck and tried to imagine what it could have been like before. He imagined paper everywhere and clay statues surrounding it acting like its protectors, the more he thought about it the more sad he got that it was destroyed and he never got a chance to see it.

He brushed those thoughts as they reached to the corner of the school house.

"You go first and then I'll enter in 3 minutes" Anne said.

"I still don't understand why you make me go first and don't want us to enter together. Are you embarrassed of me Anne?" Gilbert asked jokingly though you could sense it was a bit sincere.

"No, not at all! Well it's just that what would people say if they saw you enter with such a homely girl as myself" Anne said shily.

"You're not homely Anne and I don't care what people think" Gilbert said as he lightly pushed her closer to the door.

"Well there are other factors too..." Anne said as she pulled away back to the corner behind a bush.

"Those being?" Gilbert said.

"Other factors. Just stop complaining and go inside Gil" Anne said but before Gilbert could react Anne pushed him inside the classroom.

"Gilbert!'' ''Bud'' Anne heard Moody and Charlie greeting him from outside.

Anne leaned against the wall and sighed "Gil" she had never said it before but it sounded quite fit to her. She smiled to herself...

"Gil''

After the three minutes passed, she went through the door and as always acted as if nothing ever happened.

''Anne, I went to your house today so we could walk together but Marilla said you had already left'' Diana said as Anne sat down next to her.

''The morning was too splendid to be spent inside which is why I left early, I was so lost in my train of thought I guess I forgot to stop by your house.'' Anne said with a hint of doubt in her voice.

Diana frowned but shoved it aside as soon as Ms. Stacy began teaching.

''Morning class, switch to your partners and finish working on where we left off yesterday and please do so in a hurry we have a lot to do today.'' Ms. Stacy said, the children began switching seats.

Anne enjoyed being Gilbert's partner, it was the only time she could talk to him in public without having to deal with everything.

''You seem familiar, I feel like I saw you this morning...Odd right?'' Gilbert said with a smirk.

''Odd indeed'' Anne said innocently.

The two laughed and began working as Gilbert described the port of Trinidad to Anne.

''It was incredible, they had exotic foods of different colors and shapes and even something called a 'mango''' Gilbert said.

''A man-go what a silly name, how did it taste?'' Anne asked in curiosity.

''Sweet, the skin was yellow and a reddish pink, and, get this, they don't even eat the skin!'' Gilbert said.

Anne giggled ''Why would they waste the skin! Especially if its as beautiful and colorful as you describe it''

''That's exactly what I thought!'' Gilbert said and the two chuckled.

''ANNE'' Ruby said quietly.

Anne looked behind her and found Ruby who did not look happy.

''I left something outside of the school house may you accompany me to get it?'' Ruby asked slightly bitter.

''Anything for my dear friend Ruby'' Anne smiled, Ruby took Anne by the hand and took her outside the class by the window and found also Josie Pye there too

''Bet that project with Gilbert must be really funny since you guys seem to be laughing'' Josie said as she raised her eyebrow.

''We were just talking'' Anne said.

''Is that what they call flirting these days? Need I remind you that Ruby has dibs. I know it may be hard to wrap around your small homely head so I'll say it slowly... Gilbert Blythe is off limits'' Joise Pye said as Ruby hid behind her with a tear rolling down her eye.

''d-don't say that about Anne'' Ruby said quietly between sniffles.

''Let me do the talking Ruby, you are far to young to understand'' Josie said.

''Anne is my friend and what you said is not very nice. When you told me to call Anne over to talk to her, I didn't figure you be this bitter.'' Ruby said pushing her tears aside.

''I'm doing what's best for you Ruby'' Josie said.

''When Gilbert marries me, I want it to be simply by faith and because he knows that I am his true love not because you threatened another girl that he talked to''

''RUBY WHY CAN'T YOU UNDERSTAND THAT HE LIKES HER AND I'M JUST TRYING TO PROTECT YOU!'' Josie Pye yelled but as soon as the words came out of her mouth she was washed with a wave of regret.

Ruby took a step back and tears began rolling down her eyes, she wiped them out in fury.

''THIS IS WHY N-NO ONE WILL EVER LOVE YOU, YOU SELFISH NO GOOD MEANIE!'' Ruby yelled as she stormed inside the classroom.

Anne went inside the classroom running after Ruby but also because she was afraid of what Josie was going to do. She had never seen Josie so vulnerable heaven knows what she would do next.

Josie stood there in disbelief as a single tear riveted down her cheek, she took a deep breath and remembered what her mother had told her

''a crying girl is an ugly girl'' she wiped her tear and went inside the classroom as if nothing had happened.

All in the while by the corner Gilbert stood by the window, he had gone there to talk to Moody who was seated next to the door but what he heard was far from whatever he would've imagined...

And as we all expected he clenched his jaw and frowned.

I'm so sorry for not uploading, I have school and its been so hard to find time to write. I really enjoy writing this book and I am truly sorry for not updating earlier. I got writer's block and after it was finally gone it took me ages to edit it.
