Chapter VI- 𝑊𝑜𝑟𝑘𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑇𝑜𝑔𝑒𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟

Author POV

It was Monday morning, it was surprisingly bright and sunny even though Fall had arrived. The students were all in the gym which was near the office, waiting for the buses to arrive. Armin was talking with Annie, Mikasa was drinking water as she sat next to Historia, Ymir and Eren were quite far away from everyone, Marco had not come yet, and Sasha, Connie, Bertholdt, Reiner and Jean we're talking about Eldians know what. Mr.Erwin and Hangi walked into the middle of the gymnasium as they gathered everyone around them.

''Alright, the office just notified me about the buses arriving, now where is Marco?''- Hangi asked as she looked around for a certain freckled boy

''He should be h- oh there he is!''- Historia exclaimed as she pointed at the freckled boy

Hangi sighed and shook her head.

''Why are you late?"- Hangi asked as she walked over to the sweating teen

Marco took a few heavy breaths before looking up at Hangi.

''Sorry... Hangi... there was an accident in my neighborhood, a car crash.''- Marco explained as he paused a few times in his sentence due to exhaustion.

Hangi nodded as Marco walked over to the gang, Connie snickered as he saw the sweaty boy and received a thwack on the head by Sasha though he kept laughing. Jean patted Marco's back in a way to comfort him.

''I thought I was gonna get run over he he''-Marco whispered and awkwardly laughed

''Alright everyone, board the bus.''- Mr.Erwin said as he picked up his own bag and attendance list.

Everyone made their way out of the gymnasium and walked outside and entered the waiting bus. Mr.Erwin took attendance once again just to make sure everyone was on board. Mikasa, Annie, and Sasha squished themselves in a two-seater while Jean sat with Marco, Reiner with Bertholdt, Ymir with Historia, Connie with Armin, and Eren by himself at the back of the bus. The bus ride took 20 minutes to get to their destination; Boreal Forest of Paradis. The bus came to a stop and everyone made their way out of the bus and Eren was the last person to exit. 

''Alrighty everyone, there are two cabins as you can see, girls take the blue cabin and boys take the green cabin, hope you guys brought enough stuff because we will be staying the night, once you get your stuff unpacked we will do some activities first before we start the scavenger hunt for the basement that Erwin set up, after that, we will have our dinner and you will all give me your phones before you go to bed.''- Hangi explained with a serious tone

Everyone groaned except for Eren and they all nodded their head and made their way to their assigned cabin. The boys and girls started to unpack once then had sorted out who got which bed.

''That's not it, you retard.''-Eren said at Mikasa as he grabbed the list from her.

''What do you mean, the clue says: 'Bitter like vegemite, but is juicy and bright' Its gotta be-''- Mikasa was about to finish her sentence but was cut off by Eren's groan

''It's berries, HOLLY BERRIES come on.''-Eren said bitterly as he dragged Mikasa while looking at the map to find where the holly trees were. Mikasa yanked her hand away from Eren's grasp and crossed her arms. Eren had enough of Mikasa's attitude and walked up to her and glared at her.

''Swallow your fucking pride, and act like a normal being, stop being so fricken cocky and come, I will say I told you so if you fall down a ditch retard.''-Eren said in a cold manner.

Eren's grip on the map and clues and items they had found so far tightened as he walked away from Mikasa. Mikasa was stunned, no one has ever said that to her, not once, Mikasa felt a bit down and started walking as well.

Eren kept walking as Mikasa followed just a few steps behind him. Eren stopped in his tracks, making Mikasa do the same as she stared at him in confusion. Eren crouched down and leaned closer to some berries.

''Yea this is it, now where is the item?''-Eren muttered as he looked around, Mikasa couldn't care less about the item and crouched near the berries, she looked at them for a moment before slowly plucking one from the bunch. She slowly put it in her mouth and almost choked on it as she was grabbed by Eren.

''SPIT IT OUT, SPIT IT OUT!''- Eren yelled as he shook Mikasa.

Mikasa immediately spat out the berry, and looked at it in disgust, the taste was atrocious. Eren sighed and facepalmed. 

''You really wanna die don't you?''-Eren asked as he continued to hold Mikasa's hand without even realizing it.

''Those berries are poisonous, you should know that.''-Eren coldly said as he picked up the item and the next clue he had found

''Oh... thanks I guess.''-Mikasa said in a hushed voice

Eren just nodded.

''uh.. let's keep going.''-Eren said as he scratched his nape.

''Alright, looks like we're the first pair here.''-Eren said as he held the key which was the last item they needed to find.

''I guess the key should fit in that keyhole.''-Mikasa said as she pointed at the keyhole.

Eren nodded and walked down the remaining steps in the weird abandoned cabin, he slipped the key into the hole but no click happened.

''It doesn't fit.''-Eren said and sighed

''What?!"-Mikasa exclaimed and furrowed her thin eyebrows as she took a step back and then repeatedly kicked the door until it broke down. Eren was taken aback by the action.

This girl is strong as hell- Eren thought

Eren and Mikasa slowly stepped into the dusty room, they looked around the room for any keyhole. Mikasa had accidentally knocked a cup over, as she bent down to pick it up, her eye had caught a small keyhole that would open a drawer.

''Eren, I found it.. I think..''- Mikasa said as she gestured Eren over

Eren crouched down and looked at the keyhole before putting the key inside, he twisted the key and heard a click, Mikasa and Eren looked at each other and nodded, Eren opened the drawer to reveal absolutely nothing. 

''What the actual f-'' Mikasa was cut off by Eren

''There's a hidden compartment.''-Eren said as he felt the edges of the drawer and opened up another part of the drawer. Mikasa's eyes widened in shock. Eren fully opened it, and there was a paper that had some writing on it and a flower crown.

Mikasa and Eren stared at the ''prize'' in disbelief. This is what they got as a prize, a fricken flower?!

''I did not almost lose my life just to receive a flower crown as my prize.''-Mikasa said as she crossed her arms.

Eren looked at it for a moment before picking it up, Eren didn't know what came over him as he placed the flower crown on Mikasa's head. Mikasa was taken aback by the kind act. Mikasa and Eren stared at each other for a brief moment before Eren faked a cough and awkwardly patted Mikasa's head and looked away as he scratched his nape.

''Shit they made it before us, it's not fairrrrrr.''-Connie said as he leaned on the wall and groaned.

''Suck. It. up.''- Ymir said as she came in with Armin behind her and then the rest of the pairs came in as well.
