Chapter 30

23:07, 27 May 2021

We spend the whole day together, cuddling, sharing stories with my family and enjoying the time with my family. Lando's arm didn't leave my torso once. After dinner we say goodnight to everyone and move to our bedroom where I grab my laptop, checking us in to our business class seats back to the UK. We leave here tomorrow afternoon, which is Monday, and my team and I fly to France on Tuesday evening. So a very busy week ahead.

We pick a random movie to watch on Netflix and set the laptop between us, moving it so we can both see it. I lean my head on his shoulder. "Today was nice. I don't think you left my arms once after our run." He says with a small smile. "You arms are comforting and warm and I guess it feel nice being in your arms. I love my boyfriend, sue me. Plus, during race weekends I barley see you so I'm catching up on all the cuddles I have missed." I say with a small smile. "I'm not upset. It was amazing having you in my arms for the whole day. Catching up on all those cuddles we missed." He says pulling me closer. "You're too cute." I say with a small smile and kiss his cheek.

"How's your cheek feeling, I keep forgetting to ask." I say softly running my thumb over his other cheek. "It's still very sore, I'm surprised it didn't bruise, my jaw hurts a little too. Can you kiss it better? Please?" He asks with puppy dog eyes. I move his head a little and leave a trail of kisses all along his jaw line, from his chin to the small spot behind his ear. Almost kissing his whole cheek in the process. "Better?" I ask. He nods "but you missed a spot." He says before pointing to his lips. "You dork." I say softly before connecting my lips with his.

"We have about two hours till we have to be at the airport. What do you want to do?" I ask him as James pulls onto the busy highway. "What is there to do?" He asks. "We could go to the beach. There are some nice shops. We could do lots." I say. "I like the sound of the beach, even though it's winter." He smiles. "Ok, sounds great." James says.

Lando's hand intertwined in mine as we walk along one of Cape Towns beautiful beaches. James decided to go do some grocery shopping and he will be back in time to take us to the airport. "This country is really gorgeous." Lando says to me. "Yeah. That's my favorite thing about it. It's so diverse." I agree. We continue to walk before stopping at a coffee shop. "Do you want a coffee? Cape Town has some amazing coffee shops. Jon won't kill you." I suggest to Lando. "Yeah, why not." Lando says as we walk into the shop.

I quickly order and pay before making my way over to Lando with two cups in my hands. We sit on a bench outside and enjoy our coffee while watching the people walk past.

We were surprisingly stopped by a few fans. One even had my merch on. Lando wasn't too happy about that. Eventually James picked us up and we made our way to the airport. After a tearful goodbye to my mom this morning and the fact that James didn't want to cry in front of Lando, our hugs goodbye were very short before we were walking to check our suitcases in.

"I know I'm going to see you in two days but I'm going to miss you." Lando says with a small smile, placing his hands on my waist. "I know baby. We will be in France together soon. But I have a lot to do in the next two days but call me. Ok?" I say to him and he nods his head before quickly kissing me. I duck into my car that was waiting at the airport next to Lando's McLaren. Starting the engine and making my way back to my apartment.

After unpacking all my clothes and repacking everything I need for the race weekend. I make a cup of tea before sitting down on the couch. I put the tv on in the background and scroll through Twitter. I didn't even look what is on tv but it sounds familiar. I glance up at the tv screen to see that it sounds familiar because it's replays of an old race. Specifically Austria last year. The day Lando got his first podium in Formula one. As I watched the smile that I fell in love with go through all the post race interviews. I found myself smiling as well, his smile really is contagious.

I roll out of bed and grab a glass of water before getting ready for today. I tie my hair up into a high pony and put on my work out clothes. Which consisted of leggings, a sports bra and a cropped sweater. I take a quick selfie and post it on my Instagram story, along with a random song I recognized. I make my way to the gym and meet up with my trainer.

After a very busy day, training and working out I flop onto my couch. I take a deep breath before moving to the shower and changing into my comfortable clothes. I pack the last few things into my back pack before grabbing my suitcase and making my way out my apartment. Locking it behind me.

The team and I land in France at about 11:30 pm. Max and I collect our suitcases. "It's so late here." I say with a small yawn, tired from the days events. "Not really." Max comments sounding full of energy. "How do you sound so awake still?" I question. "I don't know. Guess I'm just excited for the race." He says with a smile. "At Paul Ricard?" I ask with a small smile. "Yes, the fans find it super boring and I kind of do too but it's still a race and a place to earn points." Max says confidently as we climb into the car to take us to the hotel. "I guess that's one way to think about it." I laugh.
