Chapter : 5 So it is you?

I woke up in a cold sweat, trembling and shaking. I was in my human form and those black tears streamed down my cheeks, it felt so real. It was so terrifying, but that wasn't the worst part. The worst part was that when I opened the hands that were clutched together at my chest the necklace was there, dangling in my fingers. My eyes widened and a blood curdling scream pierced the air.
A minute later the door burst open, in front of the door stood a panicked Grinny and I wasn't sure of Eyeless Jack's reaction because of the mask. Behind them were a lot of other pastas, wondering who the strange girl scream belonged to. I realized my mistake and clutched my forehead, the inky black tears of ooze still dripping down my face. Jack slammed the door in everyone's faces and Grinny rushed over to me. I could hear the yells of the worried and agitated pastas as their fists pounded on the red and black door. Eyeless Jack yelled something inaudible over the noises of the other pastas and my stifled cries. My tears stained dark on the pillow I had brought with me to the ground. I hadn't even realized that during my small rampage I had fallen of the bed.
Eventually the angry pastas faded as they gave up and went back to their rooms. I immediately relaxed a little. The room was a dim grey from the afternoon sun outside. A hand was placed on my shoulder and I looked up to find two well one face and one mask peering down at me. Grinny leapt forward on to me engulfing me into a big hug. I hugged back tightly, all the time clutching onto the black cross. A hand ruffled my hair and I looked up with teary sockets to see EJ trying not to make me angry or upset, but trying to comfort me.
After a couple of minutes my crying ceased and a gentle knock sounded from the door. It wasn't like the desperate pounding of the panicked pastas from earlier, it was more of a relaxed understanding knock. Grinny and EJ glanced at me and I nodded slowly. Grinny went to the door while Jack put an arm around me comfortingly as we sat on the edge of Grinny's bed. I assumed by now everyone probably knew someone or maybe they knew it was me in Grinny's room. I'm pretty sure I saw Toby's tired head poke past Jack's arm.
I stared at the empty wooden floor boards that my feet rested on. They were cool and calming under my bare feet. I heard approaching footsteps but I refused to look up. "Cheshire," A gentle feminine voice pierced the tension. A hand was gingerly placed on my cheek and I finally looked up. Rumour was there. Her mask seemed to taunt me but I knew her feelings were otherwise. "I want you to come with me," She said softly, waiting for my reaction, not sure what to expect. This girl, she was so majestic yet falling apart at the same time. Though for some reason my absolute trust for her filled my head. I stood without a word, my eyes locked on hers. She nodded and gently grasped my hand in hers, hesitantly pulling me after her.

The shy girl gently brought the terrified one to her room. She already knew, she had accidently come across slender and he trusted the girl enough to let her know. He had told Rumour that the one was coming and she was ready. She wanted the poor sobbing girl to find sanctuary and trust in more than, um one and a half people, because you don't exactly trust EJ that much. Rumour explained that this was her room and you could stay the rest of the night with her here. You didn't seem to dislike the idea. You slept back to back. Rumour still disliked showing her face to people and you respected that.
Meanwhile Eyeless Jack and Grinny had come across the black cross necklace that had dropped from your fingers. Whenever they tried to touch it, it would burn their fingers. The black chain and cross just happened to be in the very middle of Grinny's bed. This however came as a problem to him as he wouldn't be able to lay there. Jack saw Grinny's concern and told him, if he was in cat form, he could stay in his bed. Grinny agreed hesitantly not wanting to disturb you.
However you couldn't sleep. You tossed and turned and felt as if something was missing. It had been an hour before you finally remembered the necklace from your dream. You stood up and went to grab it straight away, being careful not to wake Rumour or anyone up. You stepped out into the silent hallway, the light of the sunset slipping past the window frames. You could smell rain in the air, though it was distant and far away. You could smell the blood this hallway was once drenched in. Ok good one (y/n) now you're hungry too.
As you made your way down the hall you were soundless. Even to your own extremely heightened senses. Your watched your dream run through your mind. Every single detail was burnt in like it was a memory not a dream. But you knew otherwise. You finally reached Grinny's door and pushed it open since it was slightly ajar. Inside you found the cross in the center of the bed and Grinny and EJ were nowhere to be seen.
You reached out for the charcoal necklace and wrapped your fingers around it again. It was the same temperature as your hand. It was draped through your fingers delicately. You took your time to get a good look at it. It was simple, a black cross or plus sign, each edge the same length and the darkest shade of black visible.
After taking a good look at the necklace, you finally decided to put it around your neck before changing into your killing clothes. It sat there comfortably. You took silent steps out into the hall and made your way to the door. You stood at it with your hand on the handle for a few seconds, as if you were expecting something to happen. You took a deep breath before opening the door and exiting the mansion.
-You-
I took my time, walking through the forest. I was completely aware of my surroundings, including the quiet steps of someone else, following me. I knew they were slowly edging closer, but I pretended to be oblivious. I made my way into a tiny clearing where trees surrounded me. My follower decided it was finally time to confront me and reached for my shoulder only for my body to twist and my arm to reach out grabbing the wrist of my follower, all the while having my eyelids closed. I held the wrist with extreme force, it would put anything or one through agony yet only the rising of their breaths and the pulsating blood running through their veins. I started hacking into my follower, only to step back in surprise. "T-toby?!" I exclaimed opening my hollow 'eyes', only to find my skills didn't fail me. He had been following me the moment I stepped down the stairs. My gaze met with his orange goggles. His heart rate increased, I could hear it. I released his arm and stepped back. "I-is-" he cut himself off, "Are y-you really Ch-cheshire?" I took another step back. He took one forward. I gulped audibly. "W-what if I a-am?" I dared to ask, instantly regretting my choice of words in case they angered the other killer in front of me. "Just t-tell me," he stated firmly. I mumbled something then something made me want to run, run away and hide. What if this didn't go well? What was I to do then? The urge to run pushed and pushed, I craved the adrenaline of a chase. So I did. I ran, I dashed off. I knew I was faster than him so I made sure I kept one or two paces ahead of him. Then to my joy he joined in the chase. I was always two steps ahead. Dipping behind trees, temporarily disappearing before jumping down from the trees in front of him. All the while my insane laugh echoed through the forest, I loved this game but I was craving his blood as if he was a victim. Hunger is getting the better of me. I should stop soon. I disappeared in a clearing leading him there. He stood there for me to appear again like usual. Though he was confused even my crazy laughing disappeared. Then I decided to pay him a visit, stepping out from the cover of the trees, smiling my crazy Cheshire smile. He watched me while I walked into the clearing and waited for me to run, but rather I stopped. He cocked his head to the side and I opened my mouth to speak but I was cut off by him literally leaping on me, catching me off guard, causing me to fall down with him on top of me. "Gotchu!" He choked out and we started laughing, I grinned a genuine smile finding my sanity coming back to me. Then we sat up. "Soooooo?!" he said in the annoying tone girls use when they ask you about who your crush is, "are you?" My grin softened to a smile, "what are you gonna do if I am?" I asked playfully. "Secret!" he said tapping his nose and winking under his orange goggles. "Well," I said in a serious tone almost laughing because I purposely wanted to draw tension into the air. "I am," I admitted. I couldn't help but notice his hand move to his hatchet. "Huh, really?" He said trying to draw the chat along as a distraction, but he didn't know where I was looking due to my lack of eyes. I saw him unclipping the hatchet and I felt the air drop a few degrees. I smiled my famous insane Cheshire smile knowing where this was leading. "W-well, it was nice we could talk, but I think... your time with us... is... UP!" He swung his hatchet at me. I grinned even wider watching it come to me. I rolled out of the way.
"Toby~" My hollow, dark voice practically dripped with insanity. His head snapped my way. He wrenched the hatchet out of the ground and stood up to meet my level. "It was my pleasure~" I said and I waited, then it finally happened, he blinked and to his horror when he opened his eyes I was in his face. He literally froze in surprise. My hand caressed his cheek with fake affection that was obvious. The ooze dripped from my cheeks again, but this time it wasn't tears. The insanity was literally over flowing. He seemed to snap out of his daze, but I was one step ahead of him. "Toby, go home, while you're not dead, because I'm hungry and I didn't really want to eat you. I simply went out to get fresh breakfast, but you're in my way," I said the words could have frozen the air, I said them in a voice so cold. During the time I was talking he brought his hatchet to my neck. "Well, I just want you to die," He whispered. I snapped, I couldn't hold it any more. My hand flew to his neck and I lifted him like it was nothing. "Toby," A thousand demons from inside me said, "I'm telling you to stop." He dropped the weapon and I dropped him, his body crumpling to the ground. "S-so it really i-is you!" He grinned up at me. "Didn't I already tell you?" I huffed playfully, but not dropping my insanity. The boy smiled, "c-can I come i-if you're going o-on a hunt?" he asked. "Toby, why did you attack me?" I asked already knowing the answer. "Sl- Bosses orders," he shrugged.
