Chapter 6

(This is what Misty's coronation dress and shoes look like)

Today was the day, the day that the whole kingdom was waiting for: Misty's coronation.

To say Misty was nervous, that was a understatement, she was petrified. After everything that happened the day before, she didn't feel like she wasn't fit to be the queen. Misty knew her parents believed in her, she knew her brother believed in her.

Misty was in her room already in her coronation dress, she was putting bag of ice on her cheek where Chad had accidentally hit her, the day before. She was looking in the mirror and she sighed. Misty took off the ice and it was just a big red mark, it didn't hurt that much. Misty threw the bag of ice away and she looked at herself in the full length mirror, she smiled slightly as she did a little spin.

She was feeling the fabric of the dress and she felt something on the sides she stuck her hands in, she smiled widely, the dress had pockets!!

That made her a little bit better.

She then heard a knock on the door. "Come in!" She calls to the person. Misty turns to see her brother. She smiled, "Ben, my dress has pockets!" she jumped excitedly. Ben chuckled as he looked at his older sister get happy about pockets in her dress. "Well, that's exciting. Hey, I wanted to talk to you about yesterday." Ben says knowing how bad Misty felt about everything.

Misty's smile drops and she sits on her bed. Ben sits next to her. "I wanted to say that, dad is wrong, it isn't your fault. none of this is." Misty looks down, "But it is, I'm the one who made the proclamation in the first place, if I hadn't none of this would've happened." Ben looked at his sister with a sad expression as he sees a tear fall from her eyes. They sit in silence for a bit until Ben speaks up, "Do you regret it?" Misty looks at Ben. "What?" Ben looks at her straight in the eyes, "Do you regret bringing Mal, Evie, Jay and Carlos to Auradon?"He asks more sternly. Misty shakes her head, "No" she says without hesitation.

Ben smiles, "Just because one bad thing happened, doesn't diminish the good thing you are trying to do. I love our dad, but sometimes he doesn't see how things should be run. Most of Auradon is still in their old ways, you have matured and seen past all of that. That's why Mom and Dad are making you queen, they see how well you would run Auradon well and even help it grow from what it is now. I know you blame yourself, but you shouldn't. You're right, if Chad hadn't stepped in the whole situation never would have happened. Don't beat yourself up because of this, today is a new day. You are going to become queen today, thats a big achievement." Ben says wrapping a arm around Misty's shoulders.

"Ben, I don't know if I can do this, what if I can't be the queen that everyone excepts me to be? What if I fail?"Misty asks, her voice shaky. Ben grabs her shoulders and moves her to face him. "You can do this, I know you can. When I was little when I felt like giving up when I failed at something, you always told me to get back up again, that giving up gets you nowhere. I'm going to tell you something that you always told me when I made a mistake that I felt like giving up for. 'The greatest mistake you can make in life is to be continually fearing you will make one.' Now I'm telling you that. One mistake won't define how you rule. If you make mistakes you learn from them, you always have. You aren't going to meet the expectations, you will exceed them. Our parents wouldn't have chosen you otherwise. You are my big sister and I love you, and know for a fact that you can do this, I know you can." Ben says in a serious voice.

Misty looks up at him and smiles and she wipes her tears. She then hugs him, Ben hugs her back. After a bit of them hugging the pull back and Misty laughs. "It feels weird, you comforting me. I'm usually the one who does that to you. You know, Big sister duties." Ben shrugs, "Well sometimes, even big sisters need comforting." Misty smiled again and stood up she straightened out her dress and her hair. "Good thing I wore waterproof mascara." She laughed. Ben laughed with her and stood up, "Come on, big sister, lets go make you Queen of Auradon." Ben says walking towards the door. Misty laughs and follows after him. She passes her mirror and she stops and looks at herself one more time and she smiles.

She could do it, and she believed it.

Misty was sitting in carriage waving to people to as she passed by. Ben and Mal's carriage was in front of hers. Misty was still a little nervous, a bit was still from before but also about the ceremony in general. But she knew everything was going to be ok.

Misty was waving to people people and she looked at the carriage in front of her she saw Ben place his ring on Mal's finger and kissed her hand. Misty gasps a bit, "awww, they are so cute together." she cooed to herself.

They soon arrived at the Cathedral where Misty was to be crowned. Ben and Mal got out of their carriage first and walked up the steps to meet with Belle and Adam. Then Misty's carriage arrived, she looked to the side and say her parents with Ben and Mal standing next to them waiting for her. There were people in dark yellow suits blowing horns as her carriage came to a stop. One of the guards opened the door the her carriage and one two of them helped her out.

Misty walks up the stairs to her parents, brother and Mal. They moved to the side as she began walking up the stairs, lifting her dress a little so she didn't trip. As she walked up the stairs people would bow and curtsey as she walked passed them. When she got up the stairs she noticed Ben and Mal talking to Belle and Adam while standing off to the side. When Misty reached the top of the stairs her parents smiled at her and Belle grabbed her hands. "Misty we are very proud of you. You keep listening to your heart." Belle said smiling. Misty smiles back, "Thanks, Mom."

Adam brought his daughter in for a hug, after they hug he put a hand on her shoulder. "You are going to make a wonderful queen." He smiles as he pats her shoulder a couple of times, Misty smiles up at her dad. Misty then turns to her brother who had his arms open for a hug with a big smile on his face. She chuckles and playfully rolls her eyes. "Come on, can't leave your little brother hanging." Ben says. Misty sighs, she rolls her eyes again and goes over to hug him. "I'm proud of you, I'm so happy to call you my big sister." Ben says after hugging for a bit. "Stop you are going to make me cry." she said as her voice cracks a little. They all chuckled, as Adam took his wife's hand and Ben took Mal's as the walked off to the side.

Misty sighed as she looked up gates into the Cathedral. "I can do this..." She whispers to herself. She then lifts her dress a bit and begins to walk up the stairs and the two men up top in yellow move to the side of the gate and bowed once she got to the top. Misty stood behind big wooden doors, before they opened Misty took one last deep breath as the doors opened. Misty then walked in with her head held high and looking confident, even though she was nervous as heck on the inside. Everyone smiled and awed at the sight of her. As she walked past, the guests would bow for her.

Misty soon got to the steps of the platform that the wand, her parents and fairy godmother were on. Fairy Godmother greeted the two, Belle bowed a little so fairy godmother could take the crown from her head. Misty kneels on the steps of the platform, her dress pooling around her. Misty bowed her head a little as Fairy Godmother walked up to her and placed the crown on her head. Misty smiled to herself a bit as she looked up.

(This is the crown, btw)

Adam lifts the glass covering from around the wand, Belle lifts it and hands it to Fairy Godmother. Fairy Godmother stands in front of Misty as her parents stand next to Fairy Godmother. "Do you solemnly swear to govern the peoples of Auradon with justice and mercy as long as you shall reign?" Fairy Godmother asked. Misty looks up at her, "I do solemnly swear." Misty says. "Then it is my honor and my joy to bless our new queen." Fairy Godmother says smiling as she taps the wand on both of Misty's shoulders. At the last sentence Fairy Godmother raised the wand a bit and someone grabs the wand. Everyone gasps as they wand shoots a beam to the isle and breaks down the barrier. Fairy Godmother looks shocked at how is holding the wand, "Child, what are you doing?" She shouts

Everyone turns to see Jane holding the wand. "If you won't make me beautiful, then I'll do it myself!" Jane says. Misty runs over to Mal and Ben, her arms in front of both of them protecting them. "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo!" Jane says as the wand goes haywire. "Take cover!" Adam yells to everyone. Then Mal runs from behind Misty and goes to grab the wand from Jane. "Mal!" Misty calls out for her worried, still standing in front of Ben. "Careful, Mal!" Belle shouts to her.

Mal takes the wand away from Jane and hold it up, everyone gasps and Jane runs off once she sees Mal holding the wand. Misty and Ben stand in front of their parents and Fairy Godmother. "Mal, Give me the wand." Misty says. Mal holds the wand in front of her as the other Vk's come through the doors Misty did few moments ago. "Stand back." Ben and Mist walk a little closer to her. "It's okay." Ben says. "Ben, Misty, I said stand back!" She shouts at the siblings.

"I told you so!" Audrey shouts from the crowd. Mal points the wand at her. Audrey backs up looking at her scared. Mal then turns back to face Ben and Misty. Evie, Carlos, and Jay go up to Mal and stand behind her. "Let's go!" Carlos says. "Revenge time." Jay states. "You really want to do this?" Misty asked. "We have no choice, Misty! Our parents..." Mal yells. "Your parents made their choice. Now you make yours."

Mal looks at her with a sad expression on her face as she looked around. She looked at Ben and Misty's parents, Fairy Godmother, then to Ben, and Back to Misty. "I think I want to be good." Mal says finally. "You are good." Misty and Ben say smiling at her. "How do you know that?" Mal raises her voice. Ben steps forward a bit, "Because...Because we are listening to our hearts." Ben says genuinely.

Mal looks down a little, "I want to listen to my heart, too." Misty and Ben smile. Mal turns to her friends, "And my heart is telling me that we are not our parents." She smiles and chuckled as she starts to tear up. She looked at Jay, "I mean, stealing things doesn't make you happy. Tourney and victory pizza with the team makes you happy." She looks at Carlos, "And you, scratching Dude's belly makes you happy. Who would've thought?" She laughs a little, then looks at Evie "And Evie, you do not have to play dumb to get a guy. You are so smart." Mal sighs, "And I don't want to take over the world with evil. It doesn't make me happy. I want to go to school." Misty smiles proudly, Misty knew she had it in her to fight the evil and be good. "I want stay with Misty because she makes me happy and has become the sister I never had." Mal says looking Misty, Misty looks at her with a smile and her eyes watering."And I want to be with Ben." Mal said turning to face Ben. "Because Ben makes me really happy."

Everyone awed and Ben smiles at Mal. Mal turns back to her friends, "Us being friends makes me really happy. Not destroying things. I chose good, you guys." Mal says putting her hand in front of her. After a moment, Jay puts is hand in too, "I choose good, too." Evie then puts her hand in, "I choose good." Carlos looks at them slightly confused, "So, just to be clear, we don't have to worried about how really mad our parents will be?" Carlos asked, They all chuckled including Misty and Ben. "Because they're gonna be really, really mad."

Misty steps forward a bit, "Your parents can't reach you here." Carlos looks at her and smiles, "Okay, then." He puts his hand in, "Good." Mal then looks at Misty and Ben and motions for them to join them. Ben and Misty stand on either side of Mal and put their hands in. Everyone claps. Mal places her head on Ben's shoulder.

There was a loud swoosh noise as green smoke flew into the room and landed in front of everyone. From the green smoke appeared Maleficent, "I'm back!" she yells. Misty stands in front of her Mom and brother as they look over her shoulders scared. "Go away, Mother" Mal says. Maleficent laughs, "She's so funny. Oh. I'm so...You're very funny here. Wand me. Chop-chop." she says to Mal. "No!" Misty and Ben say. Mal looks like she is going to give it to her mother but throws it to Fairy Godmother instead. As Fairy Godmother was about to spell Maleficent, Maleficent freezes everyone where they stood, except the Vk's. Misty was frozen putting a protective hand in front of Ben as they both reached out for Mal.

Maleficent grabbed the wand from Fairy Godmother and walked over to Ben and Misty. she turns Ben's face to face her. "Falling in love is weak and ridiculous." She then moves Ben's face back to face forward, she then turns to Misty and moves her crown so its tilted on her head. Mal has a tear running down her face as she looks at Ben. "It's not what you want." Maleficent says turning to Mal. "You don't know what I want! Mom, have you ever once asked me what I want? Im not you!" Mal says starting to choke up. "Obviously. I've had years and years and years and years of practice being evil. You'll get there" Maleficent says waving the wand around. "No. I will not.And I really wish that you had never gotten there yourself. Love is not weak or ridiculous. It's actually really amazing." Mal says to her mother.

Maleficent glares at her daughter, "I know one thing, young lady. You have no room for love in your life!" She yells pointing the wand at Mal. "And now I command, wand to my hand!" Mal shouts as they wand leaves Maleficent's hand and into Mal's. Mal and her friends try yo defeat Maleficent by trying to take the scepter away from her but it doesn't work and Maleficent then transformed into a dragon.

After a bit of trying to get away, and Mal having a staring contest with her mother, Maleficent shrunk down and Fairy Godmother was unfrozen. Fairy Godmother undid the frozen spell and everyone was unfrozen Ben and Misty were yelling and running forward, (They were trying to run after Maleficent before they were frozen) they were stopped by Mal. "Okay. Okay" Mal says putting her arms out to stop them from running. They stopped running and calmed down once they say Mal and that Maleficent was no where to be seen. "We kind of got this all wrapped up here." Mal says.

Ben and Mal look at each other as Misty steps off to the side. Ben then picks her up and spins her around in a hug. "Next time I rescue you, okay?" Ben says. Mal chuckled, as she placed her hands on the side of his neck. "Yeah. Let's not let there be a next time, okay?" She says as They hug each other again. After they hug Mal goes over to Misty and hugs her also, after they hug Mal tilts the crown on her head, everyone laughs. Mal looks to the side and looks back at Misty, "I'll be right back." Misty nods as she watched Mal go to Jane and Fairy Godmother.

Misty walks over to the Vk's and her brother, "That was eventful" Ben says. They all laugh and Misty wraps a arm around her brother as Mal walks back over. A guard put a glass case over lizard Maleficent. Mal looks at the guard, "carful that's my Mom." Mal says. The guard boys and Mal curtseys back. She walk over to her friends and boyfriend who were in a semi circle arms over each others shoulders. Mal walks over and puts a arm over Carlos' shoulder. "Let's get this party started!" Jay cheers. "Ohay, ohayo, hey!" They all sing.

It was now night and everyone was dancing and having fun as fireworks were going off in the background. As the music started Misty was getting carried in on the shoulders of some guys, including her brother and they were bringing her to the stage.

(Background singing)

Mal and Evie were standing off to the side as Misty was brought to the stage.

They guys put her down in the center and they spread out to the group that is surrounding Misty.

Everyone bows to her Ben right next to her as he bows she ruffled his hair. Once they stoped bowing he looked up at her with a look.

Misty left center and ben and Mal met in the center of the stage. He held out a had for her to take.

Mal grabbed Misty's hand and dragged her to stand in the middle of her and Ben, creating a little triangle

The three stood in a little formation and clapped as everyone clapped their hands with them.

Evie walked out from between two lines of people dancing while singing

They then move into a smaller circle linking their arms again and moving in the circle

Misty moved to stand next to Evie as they next dance/shuffle part started

Audrey grabs him by his arms and pulls him up and Misty goes on the other side of him

Misty and Audrey lead him to go dance but he gets separated from them. And Misty and Audrey end up dancing together

Mal and Ben go down the steps and face each other once they got to the bottom

They are about to kiss but Misty comes between them and pulls them apart playfully rolling her eyes. Ben and Mal go back on stage to dance while Misty runs off to the side from where Ben and Mal were just standing

Misty is now standing on the balcony dancing along with everyone else as she watches everyone below dance

Everyone turns to face Misty who is standing on the balcony lifts their arms and bows to her

As the song finished fireworks go off and Misty looks up in awe as she smiles. She smiles and looks back down at everyone, they are still dancing in celebration. Then Misty rests her hands on the balcony railing. She then looks straight at the reader and smiles, with a small head tilt. she then speaks directly at the reader.

"Oh hey reader, I was having so much fun that I almost forgot. You didn't think this was the end of the story, did you?" she smiles and gives the reader a small wink.
