Chapter 16

Ignore the mistakes.

I closed there room door, because I know Davontae would be easedropping on our conversation.

" So Ms.Rose called me." My dad told me.

I shifted my weight to my left leg. " Okay? "

"She said you and Ariana beat up Hailey for no reason." I arched my eyebrows and shook my head." No, Ariana didn't, I beat her up. I did and she came to us first."

"And for what reason?" He asked.

" Be....Cause I was talking about August, but not in a bad way."

" Why would Hailey make up a lie like that then?"

"She doesn't like me or Ariana and we don't like her either." I shrugged off.

" Okay, I get that but Ms.Rose also said that you were the only reason August broke up with her, because y'all had something going on."

" I ain't even finna lie, yes I'm starting to catch feelings for him, but I don't know If he feel the same way...." I trailed off, getting off topic.

" I just don't want you to be 18 going on 19 pregnant." My dad murmured.

I sighed. " I'm not. I'm still a virgin and proud of that." I told.

" Good."

" Devon stop acting like she still a child, her and Davontae are almost 19, you should be worrying about Davontae getting somebody pregnant."

" Right." I agreed with momma.

He rubbed his temple. " We're not talking bout Davontae, were talking about Daejah. You know you can go to jail for assault ."

I nodded. " Yep, but she came to me and Ariana first. If she haven't done that, it wouldn't be a problem." I kinda mumbled the last part. " So it would be labeled as self defense."

" It wouldn't be a problem if y'all just walked away."

I clench my jaw. " Me and ariana wasn't about to just walk away, you know we're not like that. I wasn't finna just Let her hit me especially when I don't like her."I shook my head.

" Why you believe her over me? Your own daughter, yes I broke her nose and I didn't mean to do all that, I was mad and I did beat her up and she deserved it ." I yelled out of frustration. I shook my head and walked out of there room.

" Are you okay ?" Davontae asked.

I nodded ." I'm fine ."

" You sure?" He asked again, wanting to make sure.

" Mhm."I walked into my room and Ariana was on the phone with somebody. I sat on my bed.

I'm mad but not at my dad. I was mad at Hailey because she went and lie about something she started.

" Ma she is ly-ing, the only reason she said that because she doesn't like me or Daejah. And she bitter that August  broke up with her."

I got up and closed my door, then sat back on my bed. Ariana put her mom on speaker.

" So you think that's the reasons he supposly lied?"

My phone lit up. I got a text from Tatiana. She's the only person I like out of that family.

She sent me a video. It was a video from the mall. It showed everything that happened from the beginning to the end of the fight.

"Yes ma' thats the reason."

Tatiyanna- Hailey lied of you and Ariana. So here's the video of what really happened.

Daejah- Thank you.

I sent the video to my dad.

Babygirl💜👑- Heres a video Tatiana sent me offwhat really happened at the mall.

I sent it to Ariana and her momma. Ariana looked at me the then video. Her and her momma was silent for some minutes.

" You were right, I'm sorry I'll talk to you later, love you I gotta talk to Devon and Danae ." Her mom hung up.

Ariana threw her phone on the chair and sighed." How'd you get that video."

" Tatiana sent it to me .... I guess she was there when it all went down." I shrugged.

" She 'bout the only one in that family that ain't crazy."

" Right."

I got up and went to my closet. " So what happen between you and your dad."

I grabbed her some clothes and gave it to her." I don't even want to talk about it to be honest... Hailey made me hella mad."

She nodded. " I bet she did."

" But thank you.. Imma have to wake up early to get my stuff for school."

" Okay."

I pressed the button for my home screen and looked at the time.

10:56am  flashed across the screen. I jumped out of bed then pushed Ariana of the bed. She groaned when she hit the floor. She rolled over. " Why you do that?" She askee in a low tone.

" Girl its 10:57, we late for school."

I looked out the window, my mom and dad car was gone but Davontae was still here. I shook my head as I walked to my  door and opened it. I went into Bubbas room and he was still asleep. I pulled his blanket off off him which caused him to fall on the floor.

" What the hell Daejah?" He mumbled.

I shook my head. " We're late, so calm down."

I walked out of his room, into mine. I saw Ariana still asleep on the floor.

Imma just let her sleep for just a couple more minutes. After I picked out our outfits, I went over to her and got a piece of tissue out of my cleenex box. I rolled it up and put it in her ear.

She is going to kill me if I do, do this to her. I know she hated when people did this to her every since we was little.

" Daejah Diamond Robinson stoppp."She yelled which cause me to jump.

" Ariana you need to get up."

I walked over to my door and closed it. She smacked her lips then sat back on my bed.

" Okay... And I know I had to get up. If you would've just woke me up the regular way, I wouldn't be so mad and you know I hate it when people do that to me especially when I'm sleep."

" I know... I'm sorry babe."

"Whatever." She mumbled.

I was really pushed back because she was really was mad at me. The last time she was mad at me was when I ate her food.

She got her phone to check her messages. I shook my head as I handed her, her clothes so she can change. I changed into my clothes and put on my shoes.

" Arriiiiiaaaannaaa?"

She looked at me not even for a second then back at her phone." Are you gonna be mad at me for the rest of the day?" 

She shrugged and put her phone down. She took her clothes and changed.

" I'll get you anything you want and buy lunch."

" Okay I'll think about it."

I straight faced her.

" Your so difficult dang, why can't you just say Okay best friend."

She laughed." You're too, so we should never go there. You know I don't never like it when people do that to me ." She put on her shoes.

I nodded. " You right, I should've never done that."

" I know." She grabbed our phones. I grabbed my book bag.

"Imma have Davontae stop by your house, so you can get your stuff ."

" Ok."

We walked downstairs into the kitchen. I made some pancake and put them in a containers. Davontae came downstairs with his stuff and went to lock up. I cleaned up and we went outside to Davontaes car.

I sat in the back while Ariana sat in the front with Davontae. He got into the car and ate a piece a his pancake .

" Did you hear momma yellin' this morning? " He started the car up.

" You was awake? Why didn't you wake us up?" I looked at him like he was crazy, as he pulled out the driveway.

" I was but it was around 5 or 6. But when I heard all that yellin', I got my headphones and put on some music and went back to sleep. But before all that you know how I be-"

"Easedropping."

He nodded " Yeah, I heard momma say, But Dametre  I wanted to tell them the mistakes I made before Davontae and Daejah. I should've told them! Not you, it wasn't your place!"

" Yep, 'cause she went downstairs."

" I'll be back in 5 minutes." Ariana got out of the car.

" Dad name is not Damatre." I mumbled.

" I know. I trying figure out,who the hell is Damatre and what mistakes momma talking bout."

" Same."

" We'll talk to her when she get him from work."

" Okay." I leaned back into my seat while eating my pancakes. I was still processing everything Davontae just told me.

" What if momma cheating?"

He shook his head." Nah ion think she's. She wouldn't be yellin' his name throughout his house."

" Oh yeah true.... then who is he."

He shrugged." I don't know but we'll find out soon."

" Okay."

Ariana got back into the car and Davontae  started driving to school.

We all got a pass to go to class. It was fourth period. Ariana and I walked into the classroom and all eyes were on us. Our teacher looked up from the board and looked at us.

" Ms. Robinson and Ms. William your late."

" No shit." Ariana mumbled.

We gave him our pass and went to our seats. My seat is next to Danaejah  which was behind Ariana. I sat down in my seat.

" This work sheet I'm handing out now, is due by the end of the class." He told the class.

Danaejah and I bothed groaned. Our teacher laughed. " Danaejah you and Daejah could be sister if y'all wanted to. Y'all act so much alike. And kinda look like I too."

" You'll never know. " I said, shrugging.

She laughed and shook her head." Girl you don't even know ."

" You can also work with a partner."

Ariana looked at me and I nodded . Everyone moved there desk around. Ariana sat across from me. Jayden sat in the empty desk that was beside ariana.

" Where y'all been?" He asked.

" Sleep." We replied.

He smiled." That's what I thought."

" So why you come over here?" I asked, not wanting to be bother.

" Dang Daejah, what's wrong withcha?"

Ariana shook her head at him. " 'Ight... but August and Reese been going crazy. "

I scrunched up my face. " Why?" I groaned.

" Because, y'all haven't been answer yall phone or text."

I furrowed my eyebrows then I took out my phone. I check my messages.

Aug🏀😍- wya?

Future😍😙- school.

Reesepieces🏀- you aint coming to school?

Lilmama🌹👑- I'm at school now.

I was about reply back to August, but I had to put my phone away.

After 30 minutes, the bell rang. We turned in our paper to the teacher then out the class we went.

I walk down the hall towards my locker . Someone grab my arm which caused me to turn around.

I saw a boy named Omarion, that was on the football team. He was fine over all, I didn't have feelings for him or planned on too.

" I been wanted to ask you, if you wanted to go with me to the movies tomorrow?"

I was about to open my mouth but got interupted. " She taken."

He nodded then walked off. I rolled my eyes then walked to my locker.

" Why you do that ?" I started to put on the combination.

" 'Cause you taken by me." He gently pulled me closer to him.

I pulled away then laughed." No  I'm not."

" Ight bet, watch ya' gonna be ma' baybeh momma, wife- ma' er'thang."

" Well see." I put my books In my locker and grabbed  some money for lunch.

" So why was y'all late today?"

We walked down the hall towards the cafeteria. " We all overslept..... but August?" I smiled.

" Yes ma'?"

" You never told me about that dream you had."

He chuckled." Ion wanna say."

" Whyyy." I groaned. " It seem like you was excited about what ever you was dreaming about."

" 'Cause I wish tha' dream neva' ended." He bit down on his lip.

Before I could say something else Ariana and Jayden met up with us." Ariana where you wanna eat?"

" Popeyes." I nodded.

" We  coming to."Davontae came from behind us, along with the rest of squad.

" Okay."

" So who is all coming to y'all party sunday?"August  asked.

" Me and Daejah friends." Davontae threw a fry in his mouth. " It's gon' be lit. Daejah you buy me a present yet?" Davontae asked.

" The only present your gonna get and have got is being on the Same day as me, and being older then me by 2 minutes."

Everyone laughed. " Nah I'm just playing. I did get you something and I better see a present from you that'll say from bubba. "

He nodded ." 'Ight bunny."

I drank some of my sprite then I heard smacking. I look over to my side to see who it was.

August .

" Is it good?" I laughed.

He looked up from his chicken to me and smirked.

" It's, but I know that ya' taste betta'." He mumbled so that only me and him can hear.

I blushed then my phone lit up.

I stood up and slid my phone into my pocket." I'm bout to go to the bathroom."

" Ight."

I went to the bathroom and did my business . I washed my hands then walked out. I bumped into Danaejah on my way put.

" Im sor-"

I smiled. She had them big brown eyes just like momma. And she was gorgeous. " It's okay ."

She smiled and nodded. I made my way back to my table.

I ate some fries as I was talking to jayden. I looked at the street.

" Ariana?"

I turned towards him. Next thing I knew, our lips connected. He grabbed the back of my neck and pulled me closer.

It started to get heated, so I pulled away. I caught my breath and opened my eyes. Everyone's mouth was in a shape of a O.

'Damn girl.' Daejah mouthed.

I looked at Davontae and he looked mad as hell. Everyone looked at us in shocked. Davontae clenched his jaw.

" Come on Ariana." We got up .

I walked behind him. I looked over to daejah .

'help me.' I mouthed.

She raised her hands up. I walked out of popeyes into the parking lot, so they wouldn't see us talk.

" Really Ariana."

I scrunched up my face." Really what?" I asked.

" You just kissed that nigga right in front of my face." He raised his voice.

" First of you can lower your voice. Second of off, I didn't mean for that kiss to happen. "

" But y'all kissed."

I rolled my eyes at him. " Okay..? So your getting mad at me because we kissed just like once but your dating and can kiss a whole different girl, that ain't even me. But you be kissin' all up on me, talking 'bout you want me and whatever but your going with Giovanna doing the same exact thing plus more. But I can't or don't get mad at ALL seem like you play in both of us."I walked towards Popeye  entrance.

" Ariana?!" He yelled.

I ignored him and walked back in. Everyone looked at me.

I grabbed Ariana food and walked towards her. I handed her, her stuff.

" Don't touch me or Davontae food or I'm beating ass 'Naejah watch our food please. "

She nodded. " I gotcha. "

We walked out. " What's wrong? You look pissed as hell."

" He was getting mad and shit, then he tried to get on me and Jayden." She rolled her eyes." This is all to much."

" I know, where did he even go?" I looked towards the parking lot then back at her.

Ariana shrugged. " I don't  know and I really don't  care."

" Okay girl what ever you say." I know Ariana. She was just In her feelings, she'll be all over him in the next hour." Are you still going on that date with Jayden?"

She didn't respond back. " You don't know do you ?"

She nodded. " Apart of me wanna say yes then apart of me wanna say no."

" I feel you bitch..... its Davontae right?"

She nodded." Yep." She popped  the p.

" You in your feelings?"

She sighed and nodded.

I know my best friend.

" What bout you?" She looked up at me.

" Yeah I'm."

" Where y'all even suppose to go?"

" Movies."

We turned the corner. " Tell me how it goes, if my brother try some tell me, just cause he older than me that don't mean shit . I still can jump him."

I laughed then nodded." Okay."

I looked at my phone to check the time.

12:08  flashed across the screen.

" I'll see you at school in 20 minutes, I'm qbout to go look for Davontae."

" Okay, I'll see you later. " We walked our separate ways.

I got back to popeyes then checked the parking lot. He wasn't there. I went inside and everyone was looking at me.

" Did Davontae come back in here?"Everyone shook there heads. I walked towards Danaejah and got our food." Thank you."

" No problem." She smiled.

August walked towards me." Giovanna been cryin' eva' since Davontae left."

My face scrunched up." Whyyy." I groaned.

" 'Cause ya' kno' how Davontae got mad or whateva'?"

I nodded." She started cryin' real hard and she was like some 'Davontae cheatin' on me with Ariana."

" I kinda feel bad for her because it's true ." I said the last part in a whrisper.

" Where she at?" I looked around.

" Ova' thea'. " He nodded to her direction.

I saw Hailey comforting her. " What bout Jayden?"

"He's been mad as hell and start cursin'  and shit. To be honest it's funny as hell."He chuckled.

I shook my head at Aug'.

" Wheres Ariana, is she okay?" I heard Reese say from behind me. I nodded as I turned toward him.

" Yeah, Ariana just went back to the school. But I'm  about to go and look for Davontae. Tell Jayden about Ariana."

" Ok I'll. See you later " He hugged me then went back to the table. August mumbled something under his breath, but I ignored it. I looked at the time and 5 minutes already had past.

" It's okay ma' ya' can go."  August told me.

I nodded." I'll Text  you later okay. I walked out of popeyes then walked down the street. I texted Davontae as I walked, but he didn't respond back to none of my text. I sighed and I rubbed my temple. I bumped into somebody as I was walking.

" Sorr-"

" It's okay momma, you good."

I stopped then looked up at him.  My heart stopped.  He was the very last person I wanted to ever see.
