New Job and Painting
17:05, 25 October 2014Louise's POV
"Please! He's right outside. Just listen to him. He would bring in so many customers!" I pleaded with my boss, Liam.
"Louise, the restaurant already has a singer for live entertainment. We don't need another one." Liam told me.
"But he's really good. Miles better than that Ben dude." I nagged.
"But-"
"And he's such a hard worker and his talent is beyond perfect." I promoted.
"Fine!" Liam gave up and sighed. "I'll give him a trial period today, and if I like him, I'll consider keeping him on."
"Thank you!" I gave Liam a suffocating hug. "You won't regret it!"
"But I want to hear him right now, because I'm too busy later." He replied.
"That's fine. That's great actually." I said and we both walked out of the office and towards Ed who was waiting nervously.
I worked in a very posh restaurant which always had some sort of live entertainment. So why not have the amazing Ed Sheeran as a regular singer?
"So... did I get it?" Ed asked expectantly and then saw Liam behind me.
"You see that stage over there." Liam pointed to the little stage at the front of the restaurant.
"Yeah." Ed replied.
"Go up and sing a song." Liam said.
"Wait, so I've got the job?" Ed beamed happily.
"Only if I like what I hear. Now, go on."
"Uhm... well..." Ed thought for a moment and then smiled confidently. "Okay."
Ed walked passed all the tables and customers up to the stage, his guitar in hand. Luckily I told him to bring it.
"Uh hi." Ed awkwardly spoke into the microphone. "My name is Ed Sheeran and my job today is to entertain you, and your job is to be entertained."
I smiled at Ed's introduction and looked hopefully at Liam. His gaze remained fixed on the stage.
"This song is called 'Sing'." Ed announced.
He placed his fingers carefully on the correct chords and inhaled a deep breath.
My heart stopped.
"It's late in the evening
Glass on the side
I've been sat with you
For most of the night
Ignoring everybody here
We wish they would disappear
So maybe we could get down now
I don't wanna know, if ya gettin ahead of the programme
I want ya to be mine lady
To hold your body close
Take another step into the no mans land
For the longest time lady..."
The beat was enchanting and I just listened in awe at everything he played. His voice grew high pitched and soon after he began to rap really fast. I never knew he could rap.
"Our love is a blaze, I saw flames from the side of the stage
And the fire brigade comes in a couple of days
Until then we got nothing to say and nothing to know
But something to drink and maybe something to smoke..."
He was truly astonishing. If Liam couldn't see how awesome he was then he was insane. Truly impressed, I watched as Ed beautifully sang until his song was over. There was a huge roar from the crowd as people cheered, completely memorised by Ed's talent, forgetting about their food.
"I told you he was amazing." I looked sideways to Liam who was standing mouth wide open.
"Amazing is an understatement." He muttered in a daze and then realised what he had just said. He shook himself and awkwardly coughed.
"Yeah, Ed has this effect on people."
"Erm, thanks for listening. I hope you all have a good night." Ed waved and walked off the stage, back towards Liam and us.
"That was marvellous!" I said in a posh accent.
"Why thank you." Ed smirked back amd then looked expectantly at Liam.
"It's clear that you are an exceptional singer, so I'll give you a chance." Liam smiled to which the edges of Ed's lips twitched.
"Thank you!" Ed beamed. "You won't regret it!"
"I hope not." Liam said. "Now, I'm a very busy man so I'm gonna shoot. You start Monday. 6pm, sharp."
"Alright, thanks again man," Ed held his hand out and Liam shook it.
"No worries." Liam said and then stalked off back into his office.
"Yes!" I cheered and hugged Ed which caught him off guard yet he held me in his warm embrace. "We're not poor!"
"This calls for some sort of celebration." Ed declared as we pulled back from our hug.
"What d'ya have in mind?" I asked.
"How about we go on that date of ours?" He suggested looking very confident in himself.
"Sounds good." I smiled.
We walked out of the restaurant hand in hand, smiling at our tremendous luck.
Ed's POV
The cold winters wind whipped around us as we entered the fairly busy street.
So I may have gotten a job, but I still didn't have any money right then in that moment, so I couldn't take Louise to any place fancy. But I could still spend the little money I did have on her, she was most definitely worth it. Unfortunately, the little money I did have could only stretch to something as little as a coffee. How romantic? (Note the sarcasm)
"I can't believe we're going to be working in the same place again." Louise said.
"I know. I hope everyone likes me." I truthfully told her.
"Of course they will, you're amazing." She smiled.
"Tell me something I don't know." I smirked.
"So where're we going then?" She asked.
"Well-"
"Oh my gosh, look." She pointed to a poster which was stuck to a lamppost. "A free art class."
"Art class?" I asked her.
"Yeah, I love art. And it's free, down at the community centre. Oh, c'mon Ed. It'll be fun!" She beamed excitedly.
"Only because it's you." I said.
*****
"Our model will be here in a few moments." The art teacher said.
"A model?" I asked Louise to which she shrugged her shoulders.
We were both wearing long aprons which had numerous stains which I hoped were all paint. There were around 20 people in the room all with a sheet of paper and a paint palet. I seriously couldn't believe I was doing this.
"An apron suits you." Louise smirked as she looked down at my awful apron.
"So does yours, it means I can do this." I flicked paint on her apron.
"So can I." She flicked it bacl and we began flicking paint descreatly at each others aprons, away from the paper or pur faces.
Suddenly, the door opened and Louise and I immediately stopped. I felt like a child messing about in class. Then I noticed something. This 'model' was an old man in a robe. Yeah you heard, a robe.
"Woah, now. Is he going to-" Louise began as soon as the man took off his robe. Everyone in the room seemed unphased by the naked man posing in front of us.
"Holy fucking shit!" I yell whispered and averted my eyes to the floor. Louise bursted out laughing at my horrified reaction.
"Oh my gosh!" She laughed.
My eyes slowly drifted upwards and I saw that everyone else in the room was maturely painting away.
"You were the one who wanted to come here, so you know...paint away." I smirked.
"I don't think I can look." Louise shook her head.
"Neither can I." My eyes stayed glued on hers.
"How the heck are we supposed to get out if we can't even look?" Louise questioned.
"I blame you."
"Me?" She laughed. "How was I supposed to know? You saw the poster too."
"Hey, don't put the blame on me here missy." I smirked.
"Oh my goodness, I can't stay in here."
"Alright, follow me."
Eyes glued to the floor, I started to walk fowards towards the door. I was walking at a fast pace and then suddenly stopped when I noticed my laces were undone. I think I should have warned Louise I was stopped because she crashed straight into me.
Instantly, I lost my balance and tripped clumsily over my lace and fell forward right on top of, yeah you guessed it, THE FUCKING NAKED MAN!
"Holy mother of-" I attempted to stand up, only for Louise to collapse right on top of me, causing me to plummet back down.
I heard a loud 'THUMP' and felt a liquidy substance on my head which I guessed was paint.
I tried to grip onto something to steady myself. My right hand fimly touched the ground and I moved my left hand to do the same. The floor felt weird and soft and- HOLY MOTHER OF GOSH! I WAS GRASPING HIS FUCKING PENIS!
"Oh my gosh!" I was so surprised, I fell backwards, Louise beneath me, my back pressing up on her face. We both hurried up to our feet.
"I'm so sorry!" I apologised to the naked man in front of me who seemed startled yet was grinning. Yes, GRINNING! What the actual heck?
"W-we should go." Louise's face looked like a tomato as she paced to the door. I ran straight after her leaving the art room a mess.
We both exhaled huge sighs of relief and looked at each other. Suddenly we started to erupt into laugher. Were we mad? Probably. But we coupd be mad together.
"No more painting. Ever. Agreed?" I said wiping some paint that had fallen on her off her face.
"Agreed." She nodded.
