Planning
23:12, 16 May 2014Ed's POV
Okay, so this date had to be the best date. Of. All. Time. It required impeccable planning. I needed to do some investigating.
"So, Louise..." I said whilst adding the spaghetti to the boiling water. "What type of films do you like?"
So I already knew she liked Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings, but none of them were on in the cinema right now. I needed to know if she would consider going to watch a film as part of our date.
"You know like, are you interested in any of the films on at the moment?" I asked her.
"Umm, well..." She thought about it. "I want to watch that new film with Zac Efron in. That seems pretty cool."
"Zac Efron?" I asked. Seriously?
"Yeah Zac Efron." She smirked. "You're trying to figure out if I want to go to the cinema for our date, aren't you?"
"How did you know?" I asked amazed as she was correct.
"Lucky hunch, but I'm right." She smiled.
"No, you're not. I know exactly what we're going to do." I lied.
"And what would that be?"
"It's a surprise." I told her.
"You don't know, do you?"
"I do too." I put the lid on the pan and walked towards her.
It was weird how naturally we could talk about our date. It wasn't the slightest bit awkward. I liked it.
"Wait, there is one thing I want to know." I told her as she added some salt in to the sauce.
"What?" She stirred the pan.
"Chinese or Indian?"
"I thought we were going to eat here then go?" She asked.
"What if I had planned a... seven course meal at a very posh restaurant and already paid? Hmm?" I looked at her.
"Well have you?" She asked. No.
"Might have." I smirked.
"Have you?" She raised an eyebrow.
"No, but I could have."
"You know if you don't know where to take me you could always say 'Louise, where do you want to go?'" She said.
"Alright. Louise, where do you want to go?" I repeated her words.
"I dunno, you choose." She smirked.
"Ha ha, very funny." I sarcastically said.
"Just proving the point that you have no idea where to take me." She grinned.
"I do too." I lied. "Anyway, I've boiled the spaghetti, what shall I do now?"
"Check if the cake and garlic bread is done." She ordered.
"Okay," I opened the oven door. "And how do I know if they're done again?"
Louise sighed, walked over to the oven and peered through.
"Take the bread out, and give the cake 5 more minutes." She advised.
"How do you know it needs 5 more minutes?" I asked curiously.
"Coz I'm magic." She smiled. She really was.
I went to the oven and as soon as I was about to take the bread out, Louise stopped me.
"Wait!" She turned to stop me. "Oven gloves."
"Oh shit yeah." I remembered and slipped them on. "Thanks."
"Any time." She smiled.
I took it out and left it to cool then took a seat. I watched as Louise worked her magic on the sauce.
"I don't really mind where we go, I'm not too fussed. It's up to you." She answered my previous question.
"Alright." I replied.
But I wanted this date to be special. Something she would never forget. I didn't want it to be one of those standard clichè dates. It needed to be perfect.
I really really liked her.
I watched her as she put all her focus and attention on what she was doing. It was captivating watching her doing what she loved. Her attention to detail, her concentration, just...her.
She was beautiful.
"What?" She asked me, still focused.
"What?" I smiled.
"You're staring at me. What?"
"Nothing." I replied innocently.
"Whaaaat?" She carried on, smirking.
"You just, you look..."
"Look what?" She laughed.
I wanted to say perfect or beautiful or pretty or gorgeous or amazing. But I didn't of course... that would have been weird.
"Happy."
"Happy?" She questioned.
"Yeah, I can just tell you love to cook and take care in what you do." I said.
"Yeah I guess I do." She admitted.
"How did you find your love for cooking?" I was curious.
"My grandma always used to take me to this restaurant called 'Cecilia's' when I was little. I loved the place and my grandma knew the head chef, Leo. He showed me the kitchen and I saw all the beautiful foods and colours and it was just so overwhelming. He showed me how to cook a steak perfectly and it tasted soooo good. Ever since then, I've loved everything about cooking." She explained with a glint in her eyes.
"Do you still go to Cecilia's?"
"I haven't gone since I was 14." She informed me.
"Why?"
"My grandma died..." She trailed off.
"Oh..." I felt stupid.
"It was 5 years ago, I'm over it. I would love to go back there though." She said.
"Why don't you?"
"Dunno." She replied. "I think the cake's done."
"Okay." I skipped towards the oven and opened it.
"Ed." She turned to me.
"What?" I asked.
"Oven gloves!" She laughed.
"Crap yeah." I put them on and took the cake out. Mmm, it smelt devine.
"One day you're going to burn yourself."
"Not if I've got you to keep reminding me." I said. Did that sound weird? I didn't want to say anything stupid.
Louise just smiled sweetly to herself.
Something sparked in my mind. Louise said that she would love to go back to this restaurant 'Cecilia's'. And that was exactly where I was going to take her. It's amazing the things you could find on the internet. It wouldn't be too hard to track down. I hoped.
But it would be perfect. I could even see if that Leo still worked there. He could give us a lesson! That would be soooo cool! I was certain she would love it.
"What are you grinning about now?" She asked.
"Is it a crime for a man to smile?" I looked at her.
"You're a man now are you?"
"I'm as manly as they come." I smirked.
"Who finds little cuts from a potato peeler terribly painful." She teased.
"They are." I stated, making her smile. Her stunning, majestic smile.
"Perfect." She grinned.
"My manliness is perfect?"
"No I mean my sauce for the spaghetti." She told me. "What's the time?"
"Half eleven." I checked my watch.
"Really? It feels like... not half eleven." She said.
"Not half eleven?" I laughed. "You wished it was 8pm so I can sweep you off your feet and we could drive off in to the sunset."
SHIT! DID I JUST SAY THAT?! She probably thought I was a right weirdo.
"Yeah, I wish." She joked.
How did she not find that comment creepy? Even I did. Well, I was relieved all the same.
I was beginning to think that she liked me just as much as I did her. I mean, she agreed to go out on a date with me, it wasn't awkward talking about it, she didn't find it weird when I said stupid things... Maybe she did like me.
I smiled to myself. This date was going to be epic.
