Part 14
04:08, 24 February 2015Mark ran from his mother's house with tears gushing. He paid no attention to where he was going as he ran across the busy street.
"MARK NO!!!!!!!" Jackson screamed at the top of his lungs. It was too late. Mark was struck by a large truck.
Mark's body flew over 10 feet away and rolled on the gravel. He was knocked out cold. His body was covered in scratches and blood. Mark's leg was bent at an odd angle. Jackson began to cry as he ran towards his boyfriend's limp body. He took Mark in his arms and caressed him.
"Mark....please...wake up! Don't die, I beg you. I'm nothing without you. Please wake up! You can't....you can't...." Jackson cried and cried.
Jackson's mother began to cry at the devastating sight. His father was on the phone, frantically calling for an ambulance. They finally came after 10 agonizing minutes. The medics grabbed Mark from Jackson and put him on a stretcher. They strapped him down and placed an oxygen mask over his face. In the ambulance, the medics stuck countless needles into Mark's arms and popped his broken leg into place.
"One of you can come with us," a medic named JYP said. It was an odd name, Jackson thought.
"You go with the ambulance. Your mother and I will meet you at the hospital," Jackson's father said. With that, they were on their way.
Jackson held Mark's hand the entire ride there. He prayed with all his might that Mark would be okay. Tears were still flowing from his eyes. They finally arrived at the hospital. The large ambulance doors opened, and the medics pulled out the stretcher. Many doctors helped to rush the patient into the hospital. Jackson ran along with them through the many halls of the building.
"Sir, you must stay outside of the operating room. Nobody is allowed in here," a doctor said. Jackson was left standing outside of the OR, looking at the two doors that had separated him from Mark. With weak legs, he walked to the nearest chair and sat with a thud. He cried until he could cry no more. His parents arrived a few moments later and stayed by his side.
"It will be okay...don't you worry about a thing," Jackson's mother said while hugging him. He buried his face in his mother's lap. All he could think about is the safety and the well being of Mark. Nothing else in the world mattered to him.
After 4 long hours, a surgeon walked out of the OR while taking off his mask. Jackson was the first to spring up from his chair.
"Doctor! Is he okay?! Is he fine?! What happened?!" Jackson bombarded the doctor with many questions.
The doctor looked down at the ground, hands in his pockets.
"He didn't make it. It was too late."
