Chapter 23 The Kim's secret part 3

Taehyung's POV

"Let's take a walk first" Jin said as he walk away.

I stay however there, leaning against my car as I watch him disappeared but my curiosity got the upper hand and I end up following him.

We continue to walk in the street, turning once then another. We kept walking for about 15 minutes until I got tired of walking to nowhere and stop.

"If you want to explain, do it right now. You wanted to walk, we walked. Now talk... Please" I said but Jin kept walking.

"We're almost here" he said and I groan

"Okay but not more than 5 minutes" I said and he nod.

I run and walk by his side. From time to time, I would take a glance at him and wonder how my life could have been such a lie. Jin is a little higher than me and even now, knowing he isn't my brother, I keep looking at him and feel like I'm still a child next to him.

How he used to protect me when we were younger... How I used to look at him like he was my hero.

He caught me staring at him, turn his head to look at me then smile.

I bit my lips and look away, slowing down.

Once again, as I was behind him, I look at his back and I wasn't mad anymore.

There's something that I'm sure right now. Whatever he would say, he would always be a brother for me. He was at the same time my brother, my dad but also my mom when my parents weren't there to take care of me.

I don't care if he isn't part of my family. To me, he will always be one.

"We're here" Jin suddenly said and I look around, noticing that we were in an abandoned construction site.

Jin put one leg than the other over the fence were there was a sign saying forbidden.

"Jin..."

"Just do like me" he cut me off.

I shrug and do as he said. We pushed few bush and shrub on our way then Jin sit down on a rock and I sit next to him.

I look in front of me and watch the view of Gangnam.

"I like coming here when I need to think" Jin said looking in front of him. "It's so peaceful..."

"Did you came here as well before you left to the US ?" I ask as I turn my head to look at him, he then nod.

No one talked for a moment and even if I wanted to know his explanation, I kept my mouth shut and wait for him to be ready.

"Okay. So what do you know ?" he suddenly ask

"Hum... That you're not mom's son"

"That's all ?" he ask and I nod.

Wait... does that mean there is much more ?

"I don't know how to start..." he said looking back down at the view.

"Just start from the beginning" I suggest

"Do you know that our-... I mean your parents were married because of an arranged marriage ?" he ask

"Hum... I think mom mentioned it when I first met Soomi..."

"Before they got married, dad was dating someone else" he said and I look at him in surprise.

"What ?!"

"That's right. Dad was dating someone else. Though, his parents didn't know about it... Actually no one did except him and his girlfriend. Not even Dad's best friend"

"Why didn't he told them ?"

"I have no idea but he didn't.... Anyway, dad was getting old and as you know, being the heirs of his parents's company, he needed to get married as soon as possible to have his own family so there would be descendant. Since he didn't told them he was dating someone, his parents thought he was single and were afraid that he would never found a girl in time before he takes the lead."

"That's when they had the idea of putting him in an arranged marriage" I said understanding

"Exactly. The girl he needed to get married to was mother"

"But... he was dating someone. Why didn't he told his parents at this time ?"

"I don't know... He's stupid don't you think ?"

"Kinda. So what did he do ? He must have agreed the arranged things since he's married to mom now"

"You're right he agreed" Jin said with disappointment.

"What about his girlfriend ?"

"He broke up with her"

"What ?!"

"What would you except ? Dad cheating on mother ?"

"No but... he should have refused the arranged marriage and stay with his girlfriend"

"But he didn't... Sometimes I'm really wondering what is happening in his mind" Jin said shaking his head. "So where I was ?... Oh right, he broke up with his girlfriend and got married with mother 3 months later. But there was something no one was expecting..."

"What is it ?"

"You asked me what about his girlfriend" he said and I nod "Well... She was pregnant. She knew about it only few weeks after dad broke up with her. She didn't know what to do so she tried to join him but he was too busy planning the marriage. After few days, she decided to keep the baby even if dad wouldn't want the baby. It's only few weeks after they got married that she could finally join dad"

"How did he react ?"

"Well... He was in shock then wanted to divorce so he could take care of his future child and live with his ex... That's when mother started to hate his ex-girlfriend. She would say that his ex was trying to break their marriage, that she made it on purpose. Kind of stupid might I say. After all she didn't made it alone. Beside, she got pregnant before dad broke up with her"

"But why didn't he divorced ? You know.. he's still married to mom so why didn't he ?"

"He told his parents he wanted to divorced without telling them the reason. They said that it was too soon since they got married only 2 weeks ago and that it would make a scandal in the business industries if he divorce. People would say that he if isn't respecting his engagement, how would they know that he's a man of words and assure them to follow a contract between 2 companies. Of course that would lead to the end of the company. That's why he stayed married with mother.

"What about his ex ? And the baby ?"

"Dad said that he wanted to keep the baby because it would be easier for him to take care of the baby than his ex who would be alone. However he also knew that this would make a scandal if people ever learn that he first child was made with someone else than his wife"

"He could have just said that it was before he met his wife"

"It would be worst..."

"So what they did ? Dad took care of the baby and so ?"

"He didn't just took care of the baby. He also asked his ex-girlfriend to hide so no one would see her belly and his wife - your mom - had to fake her pregnancy so no one would ask question once the baby was born"

"That's so horrible !"

"Yeah..." Jin said looking down "She saw the man she loved getting married with someone else, had to hide her pregnancy and most of all, seeing her baby taking away from her once he was born..."

"He ?! So... the baby is you ?"

"Yeah" Jin said giving me a small smile.

"That's mean you're still my brother ?!" I said smiling

"I never said I wasn't your brother" he said frowning "but let's just say that I'm your step-brother instead"

"Nah, I prefer to keep thinking that you're my brother" I said and his smile wide.

"Why does mom hates you ?" I wonder. This question was always in my mind. I couldn't help but ask it.

"Remember when I said that mother started to hate his ex ?" Jin ask and I nod "She didn't just hates her. She also hated me when I was born. Saying that it's my fault that she had to fake her pregnancy and all. Of course, she wasn't like that in front of dad. She would always be angry at me when dad's ex - my mom - came over to see me. She only stopped hating me that much when you were born. That's when she had the gut to told dad that my mom should stop visiting me because it would be weird for you. She also didn't want you to know that I wasn't her child. She wanted to keep the image of the perfect family outside the house and being a child, you would say the secret to you schoolmate."

"And that why I didn't know you weren't my brother but actually my step brother" I said now understanding why he didn't told me. "I know I shouldn't say that but even if she must be the person you would hate the most, I can't because she's my mom. Of course I'm mad at her but I could never hate her as much as you do"

"I know" he sais giving me a reassuring smile.

"It must have been hard for you..."

"Yeah but it's okay since I have you"

"Have you seen you mom since I was born ?"

"Yeah, I was allowed to visit her once I was 10th"

"How did I never noticed that ?!"

"Every time I went to see her I would told you that I was hanging out with some friends"

"Oh..."

"Sorry"

"It's okay" I said smiling at him "I want to meet her one day"

"Actually you've seen her many times" Jin said laughing

"How that ?"

"My mom is Mrs. Jeon"
