Chapter Seventeen

03:23, 3 January 2022

"Did she not tell you? Why do you think she acts the way she does?" The obnoxious girl asked Sasuke, as he iced his face from Sakura's seemingly random outburst. "What are you talking about?" Her eyes raked over him, before she sighed, and took the ice from his hands, and began pressing it against his cheek for him. "Sakura has some serious issues." He just rolled his eyes, "I'm sure I would know if she did."

"Then you do know?" As she seen his expression, she sadistically decided to fill him in on the secret that Sakura tried so desperately to keep from him. "You can't keep doing this, Sakura. What you did tonight wasn't okay." Hinata said to her friend, as she helped her with her broken acrylic nail.

"You can't either, Hinata. I saw you earlier." She rolled her eyes, "That isn't the same thing." Sakura just sighed, "Because Sasuke and I don't lie to each other to keep each other satisfied." "What world are you living in? You guys have sex as a response to everything. Have you ever had a real conversation?""And where have real conversations gotten you?"

"Don't do that." She warned, and Sakura just rolled her eyes. "Do what? We can't be honest with each other anymore, Hinata?" "No we can be honest, but we don't have to be catty. All I'm saying is, you have to let him in if you guys are going to get anywhere, Sakura."

"And I'm telling you, if it bothers you to the point where you're crying because you don't trust him around other girls, then you both need to talk about it." Hinata just rolled her eyes while wrapping a bandaid around her bleeding finger nail.

"You're obviously high, and I can't deal with you like this." Sakura just rolled her eyes, "I'm not high, Hinata." "Yes you are, and you've been lying to me this entire time. I knew Sasori coming back would only lead to this."

"Do you think I have no self control?" She asked, although Hinata could see her dilated orbs. "Well you're high right now, Sakura. You promised you'd stop, and he's just got you hooked again." Sakura groaned while saying to her, "I didnt take anything. He doesn't have me hooked on anything, Hinata."

"Yeah whatever, I'm going to go find Naruto." Hinata said before leaving the bathroom. Sighing, Sakura leaned against the cool tile of the bathroom sink counter. She was so incredibly tired as the affects of the drug she had unintentionally took began to settle in. Getting up from the toilet seat, she left the bathroom to find Sasori. When she opened the door, and started walking toward the staircase, she saw Sasuke walking up them. Their eyes looked into each other's for a moment, before he spoke.

"Why didn't you tell me?" "What?" Her eyes drifted to his lips as he spoke, and she stepped closer to him. "You didn't tell me, Sakura." He watched her dilated emerald eyes look into his, as her eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "What are you talking about?" She asked him, extremely confused as she felt the numbness begin to spread throughout her body, and a feeling of Euphoria take over by the second.

"Did Karin finally tell you what she did? I didn't tell you because you're friends with her, and I didn't want to change that. I think she's actually becoming a better person, and sure everyone has those pictures of me, but it was a while ago. I look so different, and I'm even hotter now."

She rambled, "Can we talk?" He asked her, and she smiled  stupidly, feeling the effect on her senses as they amplified by the second. "Sasuke, we're talking right now." Smacking his teeth he grabbed her hand, and pulled her into the dark laundry room at the top of the stairs.

The only light they had was from the skylight that allowed the full moon to shine onto their skin. "Literally what do you want, Sasuke?" They were standing so close to each other, that Sakura could see the mark she had left on his face. He watched her eyes move rapidly around the almost pitch black room, almost as if she was paranoid about something.

"What's with you and Sasori?" She rolled her eyes, "We're friends." "Oh really?" Her thumb brushed over his bruising skin, "I'm so sorry." "It's okay. I just don't think you're okay.""No, it's not okay. I shouldn't have done that." As she looked at him, tears fell from her eyes without her even realizing it.

Her hands cupped his face, as he looked at her with sheer concern on his face. "I've just had a long day, and I know that's not an excuse, but I just have been feeling really guilty lately, and what Karin said just pushed me over the edge." He nodded, while she continued to confess to him.

"Like I can't remember anything that happened with Sasori, a-and I just feel so stupid because it was my choice to take it in the first place. Besides I can't blame him, because we've always done that kind of stuff when we're high, and I always say it's not a problem, but now I'm not so sure. So I guess-" Sasuke cut her off by asking, "What are you talking about?" Tears poured from her eyes as she said, "I-I don't know what happened to me. I don't remember anything, and I don't know what happened."

As she continually repeated that, he didn't know what to say to her confession. "Sakura." He spoke, while pulling her body toward him, and hugging her tightly. She continued to say random things about what she was going through, before she abruptly stopped and giggled cutely while asking him in a hushed tone, "Do you hear that?"

"Hear what?" He asked while she closed her eyelids. Her arms moved from around him, and she grasped the drying machine behind her. "This has to be a dream." Sasuke sighed, before grabbing her gently and saying, "I'm taking you home.""Sasuke?" She asked, "Yes?"

"I want to nap right here." He just shook his head before picking her petite body up into his arms. "W-wait, where's Sasori?" Though he rolled his eyes at just the sound of his name, he answered her, "I'm not sure. Do you want me to find him?" Immediately, her hand grasped his cotton t-shirt. "N-no." Looking down at her, he saw the panic in her tearful emerald eyes, and he wondered what had happened between them.

"What's up, Princess? It's freezing out here." Naruto asked his girlfriend as she pulled him outside to talk. They had been doing great recently, so when she said they needed to talk, he wasn't too worried about it.

"I don't want to be that insecure girlfriend who get's jealous over small things, but I am." She started, making Naruto want to sigh as he knew what was coming next. He knew that her being so insecure wasn't her fault, but it could really dampen his mood at times.

"I know you wouldn't hurt me, but I hate when girls flirt with you, and you're just so oblivious to it." He cut her off, "Come on, Hinata. She was not flirting with me, you were right there."

"She was so flirting with you, and I walked away because of it. I don't want to feel like I'm competing for my own boyfriends attention." As she spoke, her anxiety became increasingly worse, making her overthink the entire situation. Maybe I am just overreacting. He promised he wouldn't ever lie to me. She sighed before saying, "You know what? I'm sorry, maybe I am just overreacting." He just wrapped his arms around her, and kissed her forehead softly.

"It's okay, you just have to trust me, Princess." She nodded into his chest and sighed, knowing that she was right, but refusing to talk about out of fear that she was being annoying."I know, and I'm sorry. I just get the best of myself sometimes, you know?" He nodded, while listening to her talk. "It's okay, Princess, I promise. I love you." A blush cane to her cheeks as she said softly, "I-I think I love you too." Naruto pulled away slightly, to look her into her lavender colored eyes.

"Princess." He said with a smile, making her smile. "No, I know. I love you, Naruto." She said, not completely sure on what love truly looked like, but sure that they were the epitome of it. The smile on his face got even bigger as he cupped her cheeks with his cold hands, and kissed her lipgloss coated lips.

As the couple stood in the early fall weather, kissing each other romantically, they were oblivious to the leaves that began to fall around them, due to the gust of wind that washed over them. The sight of them was almost picture perfect. Pulling away, Hinata smiled up at him. "Let's go back to your place?"

She didn't have to ask him twice as he grabbed her hand and they walked back to his car. When they got into his car, and he began to drive, they both couldn't help but smile as they thought about what Hinata had just confessed. At a traffic light, Naruto paid close attention to a dark sports car that seemed to had been following them for a few miles, while Hinata looked at him with pure love in her eyes. When the color of the light changed, Naruto sped through the city of Konoha, trying to lose the man following them from behind. Hinata noticed his change in mood, and she placed her hand on his thigh while asking, "What's going on?"

Looking to her with his baby blue eyes shimmering underneath the streetlight, he said, "I am so sorry." She still looked at him with a confused look, before he forced her upper body down against the console that was in between them, just as she heard the sound of glass shattering, alongside him cursing under his breath.

"What?" She asked as she felt him reach over her, and heard his glove department open, followed by him saying, "Take the wheel." He said before slightly leaning out of his opened window and skillfully shooting the tire of the sedan that had been trailing them. As he did so, his right foot mashed the gas, and Hinata did as he said, with no questions asked, though she had millions on her mind.

When he shot the second time, she looked into the rear view mirror to see that the car had flipped over completely. She felt as if she was in a movie as Naruto grabbed her by her arm, while asking her questions.

"Were you hit? Are you okay?" His eyes looked over body, for any sign of blood while his hand cupped her head. "I-I'm fine." He just nodded, and she was at a complete loss of words as he grabbed his phone from his pocket, and called someone.

As he spoke on the phone, she looked at him for a moment, noticing the wound to his left shoulder. "You were shot." She said as he ignored her while speaking to her father on his phone. "Naruto, we need to get you help." He pulled the phone away from his ear and hung up, "I'm fine, we just need to get you home, right now."

"Sasuke!" Sakura exclaimed with a smile as he laid her in her bed, "Sakura, stop." He said while putting a finger over his mouth, hinting for her to shut up. "Why?" She whispered loudly, "Your mom is home." Sakura smiled cutely while laying back against her plush pillows, "I hope she can hear dad."

"What?" He asked her while taking of her shoes for her. "I can hear his laugh." She said before laughing, "Isn't it so contagious?" He just shook his head, wondering how he hadn't seen the signs the last few months. "What did you take, Sakura?"

"Why does everyone keep saying that? I didn't do anything, and he didn't force me to do anything. All I did was get a drink from Sasori, I swear." Sakura said before she began to cry again. Her hysterical crying made Sasuke wrap his arms around her while speaking in a comforting tone, "Hey, come here."

"I'm sorry, Sakura. It's just that we're worried about you." She continued to cry as she said, "It's just so hard staying sober when I'm around him, and now I have to start all the way over, because I'm an idiot."

"You're not an idiot, Sakura." Sasuke said while trying to comfort her, "B-but I am, and now I'm only seven days sober, when I could've been a whole month."

"I just can't believe I threw it away for him. Maybe my friends are right, maybe I do let him walk all over me. I don't even what we did the other night, but I just feel icky." Sakura continued to speak as her lips just moved, without her being able to fully comprehend the words she was saying.

"The room is spinning." "Is that who you get your drugs from?" She shrugged, "I used to, but he doesn't really-" Before she could finish her sentence, she began to shake involuntarily with her eyes rolling back. Sasuke had to move fast, as he laid her on her side while she seized aggressively against her pillows.

Going to her bedroom door, he yelled for her mom to come, and when she did, Sakura continued for another minute, before stopping abruptly. As her mother called the ambulance, Sasuke looked into her dazed eyes, trying to see if she was fully aware yet. "Sakura, can you hear me?"

Down the street at Hinata's, Naruto sat in her bathroom, getting his wound tended to.As her hands moved carefully, he stared at her, waiting for her to ask a million questions, only she was silent. He knew her silence was deadly, and it made him anxious. "Are you really not going to ask me anything?"

He asked her, and she didn't answer for a moment. "What is there to question?" "All of it?" She shrugged, "It's pretty obvious." "It is?" He was confused considering her father typically kept her out of the loop with things. "It is, Naruto."

"All done." She said before pulling away from his wound and saying his name, "Naruto?" "Yes, Princess." Hinata walked back into her bedroom while saying, "I really thought you were different." His blue eyes held clear confusion in them as she continued to speak, "You told me that my father wasn't right. You told me that you were no longer in a gang, you lied to me."

He cut her off, "N-no you don't understand.""I completely understand, Naruto. You've been lying to me for months about it, and we could've died tonight because of it." "No, Hinata! That was your dad! It had nothing to do with me." She shook her head with tears in her eyes, "My Dad doesn't have people who want me dead, he's not in a gang!"

He tried to walk toward her while saying, "You have to believe me, Hinata! I would never endanger your life." Her tears fell from her eyes as she backed away from him. "You did that when you lied to me about you being in a gang, Naruto. You lied when I gave you multiple chances."

She cried to him, making his heart drop to the pit of his stomach. "And then on top of that, you were begging me to trust you, when you've been lying this entire time. I can't believe you."

"Do you know how much I've done to try and convince myself to trust you? I was actually about to believe you over my father. My own freaking dad, and you were going to sit back and let me. I can't believe you." As she spoke so coldly to him, it made his chest ache, but he couldn't do anything about it because she was right. He had been lying for months, even though she had given him multiple times to come clean.

"Do you have anything to say?" She asked him as his eyes stared at her carpeted floor and sighed, "N-no, you're completely right. You have every right to be upset, Hinata." "I'm breaking up with you." Instantly his head snapped up, and he said, "Hinata, no. We can work this out. I'm so sorry, but you really have to hear the whole story." She just shook her head, "No, Naruto."

"You've been lying so much, and that's always the tip of the iceberg. I can't go through that again, I won't go through that again." Walking closer to her he said, "I am so sorry, Hinata. I just couldn't tell you because I knew that you wouldn't look at me the same if you knew! I love you so much. I would never do anything to hurt you."

Tears ran down her cheeks as she shook her head, "You should go.""I'm not leaving until we talk about this, Princess. Please, just let me explain." He said while reaching for her hands. "There's nothing to talk about, Naruto. You lied and told me you weren't apart of it anymore, and I gave you so many chances."

He tried to plead with her, "I know, and I'm sorry! You just have to let me explain that it wasn't what you think it is. I had nothing to do with that stuff! They weren't even after me!" "Then who were they after, Naruto?" She yelled back at him, and just as his lips parted to tell her the truth, they were interrupted by her friend knocking on her door, and opening it. "Hinata, we have to get to the hospital, something happened to Sakura."

Without any question, she grabbed her phone and walked toward her door, TenTen looked at Naruto as he watched Hinata walk away, "Aren't you coming?" "Y-yeah." In less than fifteen minutes, they were all walking into the hospital to see their friend. "What's going on?" Hinata asked Sasuke as he sat in the waiting room. "She had a seizure."

"A seizure? What the fuck?" Just as TenTen  asked that, Ino and Sai joined them in the waiting room. "So what happened?" "She had a seizure." Naruto answered, making Hinata roll her eyes at just the sound of his voice.

"A seizure? Is she okay?" Ino asked with an expression of worry all across her face, "She's okay, I think. They had to run a few tests, so I'm just waiting out here. Mebuki is with her."

"Where'd her date go anyway?" Naruto asked, "Yeah, where is Sasori?" Ino asked, "I took her home. She was very disoriented." "And she said she wanted to leave with you?" Hinata asked with a little more hostility in her voice than usual. "Hinata." Naruto said, making her look at him. "No, don't do that. Are we just gonna sit here and act like she'd actually want to leave with you after everything that happened today?"

Even Sasuke couldn't argue with her point, "That's what I thought too, but then she apologized and we just talked from there. I just took her home, nothing else." They all nodded, but Hinata still wasn't convinced. "Yeah, whatever. I just want to make sure my friend is okay. She's never had a seizure before." Before they could come up with their own answers, Mebuki walked toward them.

"Hey, you guys. All of her scans came out clean, and they're running a tox screen to see if it was drug related, but I doubt anything will be abnormal." They all nodded, though they all knew better. "They're only allowing two guest at a time, so you all have to decide amongst yourselves who gets to go."

"Thank you, Mebuki." Ino said while hugging her, "No, thank you. I'm glad she has friends here to support her." When her mother left, everyone waited for someone to delegate who would be seeing her.

"Okay well I think Hinata should definitely see her." Naruto said, making them all nod in agreement. "And me." Sasuke and Ino said in unison. "You can go, I'll wait." Ino said, and he nodded, "Thank you." As Sasuke led the way, Hinata was silent. "Are you okay?" He asked her, before they opened Sakura's door. She looked up at him, with tears already in her eyes, "Great."

"Hinata!" Sakura said in a raspy voice with a smile on her pale face. "My God, Sakura." Her friend said before hugging her. "What the hell happened?" Hinata asked her as Sasuke shut the door. "I-I don't really know. All I remember is talking to you in the bathroom." She nodded, "I'm sorry, by the way. I was really mean." Hinata shook her head, "Don't sweat it, you were right as always." Sakura laughed a little, before noticing Sasuke. "Hi." She spoke to him, "How are you feeling?"

"I have a huge migraine, but they can't give me anything because they're running a tox screen? I keep telling everyone that I didn't take anything." "And we believe you, it's just that they can never be too sure." Sasuke said while kissing her forehead. "Yeah, I guess. It was weird, because I did feel high, but it was very intense."

They both nodded, "A-and it really hasn't gone away. I-I don't know w-what to do." They both noticed her stutter, and before they could question it, her eyes rolled to the back of her head, as she had another seizure. "Sakura?" Hinata asked with her heart beating erratically, as Sasuke rushed out of the room to get help.

Once he came back with a nurse, in the matter of less than two minutes, she had stopped shaking uncontrollably. Hinata couldn't stop herself from crying, and the nurse sighed in annoyance while saying, "I'm going to have to ask you guys to leave while I page a doctor to examine her."

They both nodded before walking out of the room, "Hey, she's okay." Sasuke said while gently grabbing Hinata's arm, "You know what, Sasuke? Shut up. We don't know that. You're no help. All you keep doing is putting her in positions where she feels like she needs to relapse. Now look at her, Sasuke. Look at her!"

As she made a scene, their friends noticed from the end of the hall. "Hinata, I didn't even know-" He was cut off, "I guess we're all finding out new things tonight, huh? Does she know?"

"Know what?" Before she could answer his question, Naruto interrupted them. "Hinata, we're all just trying to help." "You're the last person I want to see right now, Naruto. You know what? The both of you should just leave, I will make sure she is okay.""What? No." Sasuke said, but Naruto just nodded.

"Okay. If that's what you need, then we will do that. Just tell someone to keep us posted, please." Hinata nodded before she walked away from them. "What the hell is her issue?" "She found out about everything."

"How?" They asked as they walked out of the hospital, and to Sasuke's car. Naruto sighed, "Hiashi has had some guys after him, and people were following us tonight." "Did anything happen?" "Yeah they shot at my car and stuff, but I was the only one hit, Thank Goodness."

Sasuke looked at him confused, "You were shot and you're saying that?" He shrugged, "It just grazed me, and besides, if anything ever happened to her. I don't know what I'd do." Sasuke just shook his head, "But yeah she thinks it was all my fault, and I don't know what to do."

"Me neither, you think she'll tell Sakura? She didn't tell her about Karin." He shrugged, "She was really upset, I don't know. I've never seen her that mad." Sasuke sighed, "I will just have to keep my distance." "Yeah me too." His friend agreed.
