Chapter 16
20:36, 26 July 2015"What are we doing here?" I asked. We stood at an empty field, a few miles outside Central City. "We are going to talk." He said. "No." I mocked. "Audrey, you are 23 years old. You should be able to talk to me." He sighed. I took a few deep breaths. "What do you want to talk about then?" I sighed. "You've never been afraid of the Flash, why are you afraid of me now?" He asked. "I'm not afraid of you." I sighed. "Then what are you afraid of?" He asked. I'm afraid of loving you. "I don't know." I muttered. "You do know." He said, "Audrey, please be honest with me." I bit my lip. "I don't want to be in love with you." I muttered, secretly praying he didn't hear me. "What makes me so horrible I don't deserve love?" He asked, his voice slightly shook. "You deserve all the love someone can give. But what you do is dangerous, and I can't lose anybody else." I said softly. By now he stood so close I could feel his breath. "So I'm not allowed to do this?" He asked with a smile. He softly pulled me closer, and I felt his soft lips press on mine. "Maybe if you ask it really sweet." I murmured. He laughed. "I love your haircut, by the way." He whispered before softly pressing his lips on mine again. "I have no idea where we stand now." I muttered. "Great question." He said. He sat down on his knees and he grabbed my hands. "Audrey Genevieve Raymond," He started, "will you please go on a date with me?" I smiled. "I'd love to." He stood up. "Great, let's go." He said picking me up. "Wait here." He said, we stood in front of Iris' house. A few seconds later he was by side again, all dressed up. "Why did you do that?" I asked smiling. "For our date." He said smiling. He grabbed my hand and together we walked towards the city.
"I love this lasagna." I murmured. He chuckled. He was eating a large pizza with pepperoni, olives and jalapeños, his favorite. "I have a question." I announced. "Bring it on." He smiled. "At the field, you knew things about me. How?" I asked, when he said my age I was surprised, but he also knew my second name, that's crazy. "Caitlin." He smiled. "Another question, how did you get so fast?" I asked softly. "Around a year ago I was struck by lightning. That's also how I met Caitlin and Cisco." He said. "What's your life story?" He asked me. "Not interesting. I've lived with my parents and Ronnie. After we thought Ronnie died, I've lost contact with my parents." I said. "Why that?" Barry asked. "They lost their favorite child. I never was as smart or as good as Ronnie. I never cared. But after he died they decided I wasn't good enough to contact." I said. "That must be awful." Barry said grabbing my hand. "It's fine." I muttered. "Now, tell me yours." I said with a small smile. "My mother was murdered when I was a child. My father went to prison for her murder. I know he is innocent, but I can't prove it, yet." He said. "I can't even imagine how hard that would be." I said. Quietly we ate our food. "What are we going to do with Alex?" I suddenly asked. "We are not going to do anything. I will lock him up in the pipeline." He said. "He attacked me." I said softly. "You are safe now." He said, softly squeezing my hand.
"I had fun." I smiled. We stood in front of the apartment building. "Me too." He said. He leaned forward. "I don't kiss on a first date." I smiled teasingly. He pouted, but fast after that there appeared a cheeky grin on his face. I felt his arms around my waist and he placed many small kisses on my jaw. I rolled my eyes and turned around. I placed my hands in his neck, quickly I pecked his lips. "Is that everything?" He asked pouting. I smiled. "Good night, Barry." I said softly. "Good night." He smiled. He stood there, under the lamppost, the sky filled with a thousand stars. And that moment I fell a little bit more in love with him. I watched him speed away before I walked in.
