Chapter twelve - I said I was sorry
05:21, 24 September 2014Jesy's POV
I woke up in the morning because of the sunlight streaming thought the blinds. I sat up. "Jesy?" asked a voice behind me.
I ignored it, knowing it was Perrie. "Jesy it's me," the voice added. Wait, that wasn't Perrie's voice. I turned to look at her bed. It was Leigh-Anne.
"Where is..." I started to say. But I didn't even want to mention Perrie's name. "She's sleeping on my bed. I slept here over night," Leigh-Anne explained.
"Why?" I asked. "She couldn't bare seeing you sleeping so upset after what she's done," she continued. I nodded.
Then something caught my eye. It was a few sheets of paper fallen down near my guitar. I picked it up and sat on my bed. On the paper, there were six lines of writing.
On top of it, there were music notes of some tune. "What's that?" asked Leigh-Anne. I shrugged and read the lines of writing out loud.
"She captures her reflection and she throws the mirror to the floor, her image is distorted screaming is it worth it anymore? No-oh-oh... are you scared of the things that they might put you through? Does it make you wanna hide the inner you? You're not the only one so let them criticize... ah-ah-ah-ah... you're untouchable when you realize, oh-oh-oh..." I read out loud.
"Wow," Leigh-Anne breathed. "Sounds like a song," I said. "If it's a song, then that would be enough for one verse. Maybe you can play the guitar according to the tunes on that paper and sing it," she suggested. She picked up my guitar and handed it to me. She went and sat next to me on my bed.
"Maybe you should sing the first two lines. I'll sing the next two. And we can both sing the last two lines together," I instructed. I was a little worried that my singing voice would sound weird in the morning.
Leigh-Anne nodded and grabbed hold of the lyric sheet. I started playing the tune once. The second time I played it, Leigh-Anne started singing the first two lines. She sounded perfect. I sang the next two lines.
We finally both sang the last two lines together. When we were done, I smiled to myself. We sounded amazing. Leigh-Anne smiled too.
Then her face lit up. "Jesy! We should come up with a chorus for this!" she suggested. I nodded and smiled even wider. One problem. Leigh-Anne and I have never written a song before. But we should really give it a try.
"Hmm... well this song so far is about how you should not be unhappy about your self and how you look," she thought out loud.
"Yeah. It should be about thinking positive. Changing your life to a positive one," I added. "That's it! Changing your life!" she said loudly.
"Change your life, oh oh, change your life..." I sang quietly. Leigh-Anne tilted her head to think. Then she moved it back straight.
"Change, change your life... change it all..." she sang. I scrunched up my nose and smiled. "Too much 'change' in one line," I said. She giggled. "Something that rhymes with change and fits in that line," I suggested.
We thought for a while. "Take?" I asked. "Change, change your life, take it all..." she sang. "I like it!"
"We will always be together, just us all..." I sang. "That should be the next line!" Leigh-Anne said happily. "So it's... change, change your life, take it all... we will always be together, just us all..." she sang.
I felt something wasn't right in the second line, but I didn't bother with it. "Maybe after that last line, we should sing the first line again," thought Leigh-Anne out loud.
"Hmm... the next one can be like, you're gonna use it to become what you've always known," I said. "Yes! That's great!" she complimented. She wrote down our lyrics for the chorus so far on the piece of paper.
"Leigh, I think we should change the second line a bit," I told her. "How?" she asked. I thought for a while. "Maybe something to do with staying together like... we're gonna stick together, know we'll get through it all," I sang to her.
I thought she wouldn't like it, but her smile grew wider and she nodded quickly. She re-wrote that second line down. "Try playing the guitar and singing our chorus," she instructed. I nodded.
I started playing the guitar while Leigh-Anne and I started singing. "Change, change your life, take it all... we're gonna stick together, know we'll get through it all. Change, change your life, take it all... you're gonna use it to become what you've always known..." we sang together.
"Something isn't right with the music though," I said after we were done. "Maybe experiment with the sounds of the guitar a little," Leigh-Anne told me.
I nodded and played with the guitar strings. After a while I sang the chorus with a suitable tune. Leigh-Anne wrote my little tune down onto the paper. "Let's try that," she said.
We both sang our chorus while I played the guitar. It sounded perfect.
Then the two of us realized that we weren't down for breakfast yet. We both quickly left our things and rushed downstairs.
Jade was in the kitchen and Perrie was on the dining table. Her plate had a stack of pancakes, but it looked like she hadn't had a bite yet. Her head was resting on one hand and she was poking the top pancake with a fork on the other.
"Good morning, Jade!" I chirped, not worrying about Perrie. At the corner of my eye, I saw her head snap up and look at me.
I decided to forget about it and sit on the stools at the kitchen bench. I quickly ate up my breakfast. After that, I flopped on the couch and continued reading a book of mine.
Perrie's POV
I sort of expected it. To see Jesy ignoring me and pretending I wasn't there. She only said good morning to Jade.
I couldn't even eat because of my mistake I did yesterday. Why did I ever kiss Colin back? I hate him. But right now, I didn't really care about him. My mind kept wandering off to Jesy.
I kept poking my pancakes with my fork. I looked up when I heard a voice in front of me. It was Jade. "Pezza, don't you want to eat?" she asked softly. I sighed and shook my head.
Before she could say something else, I got up and went upstairs to my room. More like mine and Jesy's room.
I was surprised when I saw Jesy's guitar on the bed. It wasn't there before. Jesy must have decided to finally start playing it again. But then I noticed something else.
Beside the guitar, was sheets of paper. I picked it up. It was of my song. What's it doing here? What's more surprising is that underneath my first verse, there was a chorus.
I didn't want a chorus. I wanted to write this song by myself. I read the new chorus to myself. They were pretty suitable lyrics.
There was a new tune next to it. I sat on Jesy's bed and picked up the guitar. I played the tune a couple of times by itself before I started singing the chorus. I soon realized the pace of it was slower than the first verse. Wow.
I sang the full song and played the guitar. It was amazing. A perfect song.
"Wow, that's so beautiful..." a voice breathed from the room doorway. It was Jade again. I really didn't feel like talking to her or anyone else, so I went over to my bed and lay down.
I turned my head to the side and watched Jade as she went over and picked up the lyric sheets. "Did you write this?" she asked me in amazement.
"Only the first verse. I don't know who wrote the chorus," I replied softly.
Jade picked up the guitar and played the tunes. Then she started singing the song. Gosh, her voice was so beautiful and angelic.
"Can I write a second verse?" she asked me. I sighed. "Sure," I replied. She excitedly nodded and picked up a pencil which was just nearby.
I said nothing else and stared up at the ceiling. My mind wondered off to Jesy. Soon enough I felt a tear forming in my eye. I quickly blinked it away.
Jesy and I are still together, I know that. But she hasn't forgiven me yet. For the billionth time, I though about the way I acted and how much I regretted it.
I soon went out of my thoughts and heard Jade's sweet voice singing to herself while playing the guitar.
His body starts to flicker like nobody wants to know his name
Just another soul with feelings but nobody's there to feel the pain... no, no, no
They can rip you, bring you down, down to their size
But they will never get to the heart you hold inside
I smiled at her lyrics. They were perfect. And so was her voice. I kept listening to her singing.
You're not the only one so let them criticize, ah-ah-ah-ah
you're untouchable when you realize, oh-oh oh
Those last two lines were the ones she had repeated from my first verse. Jade kept playing the guitar and singing the chorus which was already written.
When she was done, I turned to look at her and smile. "By the way, Leigh told me that she and Jesy wrote the chorus," she informed me. I nodded. They did a good job.
Jesy's POV
I was so bored this afternoon. Maybe I should take a short walk outside. "Hey, I'm going to take a walk outside!" I called out to the girls before I left.
I closed the front door of the flat and turned around. In front of me was a girl who looked around my age. She had brown eyes and pure blonde hair. The girls arms were crossed in front of her and she didn't look happy.
"What?" I asked her. "Where you singing in your flat before?" asked the girl in a super high voice. She must be one of those extremely rude girly girls who wants everything her way.
"Yes, I was..." I answered her. "Well stop it! I hate it when people sing! I stay in the flat above you and it's killing my ears! I would like to go to work in peace!" she screeched.
I realized she was dressed in a waitress's uniform with a badge that read 'Priscilla.' "Um I don't know how you can hear me sing through my ceiling and your floor, but I don't care about your dying ears. I'm going to keep singing," I spat back in her face.
I pushed past her and walked away. Outside, I walked through a park. Ten minutes have already gone past. Wow, that was quick.
I decided to walk back to the flat, when I heard puffing and panting behind me. I spun around and saw Perrie. She looked like she had just ran here.
"Perrie! What are you doing?" I asked. She walked up to me. "Jesy... I'm so sorry!" Perrie breathed. "Sorry for what?" I questioned.
"For that kiss with Collin. I swear, that was the biggest mistake of my life! I didn't mean to!" she told me.
I rolled my eyes and was about to walk away when Perrie stopped me again. "Jesy - please! Just please forgive me! I can't stand it when you don't talk to me. I miss you so much," she admitted.
Tears were now falling from her eyes. I sighed. "Then why would you kiss Collin back?" I shouted at her all of a sudden.
"Jesy, I didn't mean to! I told you, I'm so sorry! I didn't know how to react to him kissing me!" she cried. "Then why didn't you just pull away?" I snapped.
"Jesy, Please! It wasn't that easy!" she answered. Tears were streaming from her face, making her makeup go messy.
I looked into Perrie's eyes. I could tell she really meant what she said. "Please?" I heard her cry softly.
It seriously tugged on my heart strings. My faced softened and I pulled Perrie closer towards me. I hugged her and she tightly hugged me back.
"Promise me that you'll never, ever do that again," I whispered. "I promise," I heard her reply. We pulled away from the hug and I looked into her beautiful blue eyes.
She looked back into mine, and we were leaning closer again. She connected her lips to mine, and we were soon locked in a kiss. Gosh, I missed her kisses.
We pulled away and I looked into Perrie's eyes again. "I love you Jesy," she whispered as I wiped the tears off her face. "I love you too Perrie," I answered.
