Chapter 17: This Might Help Or Make It Worse

Lockwood Mansion

Hayley walks over to Tyler and pours her shot in his mouth. She wipes her thumb across his bottom lip and sticks her thumb in her mouth. Klaus enters the room.

"Well, don't let me interrupt."

"I didn't know you were here."

"Clearly." Klaus takes a drink from a bottle of alcohol he brought with him.

"I just popped round to celebrate Dean's successful retrieval of the vampire hunter. Yet when I arrived, I learnt that not only was Dean unsuccessful, but that Elena killed the hunter."

"Well, maybe if you had let Dean use force on Connor instead of sending him in on a suicide mission."

"Maybe you should mind your business, wolf girl."

"What do you care if Connor's dead anyway?"

"I have my reasons. They've ceased to matter. Cheers."

Klaus raises the bottle of alcohol and takes a drink. The Ophira comes into the Mansion. 

"Wow your drunker than you were in the 20s," Ophira says to Klaus, then turning to Hayley. "And that says something." Hayley laughs

"I thought you were at home Ophira."

"Well I didn't want you to forget that Elena killed that Hunter, killing hunter = hunters curse. So why don't we go make sure your doppelganger doesn't killer herself."

"Your probably right." Klaus answered walking towards her and the door. There's a knock at the door. Tyler goes to answer it. Caroline enters with a box of stuff. 

"I brought your stuff. Old laptop, your jersey, the charm bracelet."

"Care, this isn't a good time."

"Just take it." She shoves the box into Tyler's hands. Klaus places his bottle down and walks over to Caroline.

"Caroline." Caroline looks at him and folds her arms across her chest.

"By the break-up drama unfolding before me I assume you've met Hayley." Klaus states. Caroline says nothing. 

"All right, come on, let's go. Let's leave them alone. Your talents are needed elsewhere.

"For what?"

"I think you've got more important things to deal with, mate." Klaus, Ophira and his hybrids leave. 

Stefan answers a call from Klaus.

"I don't want to talk about it." Klaus is outside, walking through a neighborhood.

"Well, I can't imagine why, what with you ruining all my plans for a hybrid filled future."

"Well, it wouldn't have happened, if you hadn't sworn me to secrecy." Stefan looks at Damon. Damon nods.

"Well, life's full of ifs, Stefan. But let's accentuate the positives, shall we? The hunter was one of five; we'll find another. It may take centuries, but we've got nothing but time, right?"

"You're using your calm voice today. Who's getting killed?"

"Not you, if that's what you're worried about. But I am concerned about your beloved." 

Ophira grabs the phone and asks. "Have the hallucinations started yet?"

Then hands the phone back to Klaus. Stefan and Damon look at each other.

"What do you know about that?"

"I'll tell you. Where are you?"

"I'm at her house."

"How convenient, so are we." Klaus knocks on the door. Stefan hangs up his phone. Stefan opens the front door and walks outside, past Klaus and Ophira. They follow him.

"You know, this would all be a lot more civilized if I was just invited inside."

"It's bad enough I'm out here talking to you. What do you know?""Here," Ophira says to Stefan holding out a vile of black liquid. "This might help the hallucinations of make them worse, Gaulish is tricky like that use at your own peril." Stefan took the vile. 

"I killed the original five hunters, remember? When one kills a hunter, there's a bit of a consequence."

"What kind of consequence?"

"The hunters were spelled by witches to kill vampires; if you prevent one from fulfilling his destiny then he'll take you down with him." Ophira explains.

"What do you mean? Connor's dead."

"I mean, Connor's death won't prevent him from making Elena his final vampire kill. She'll need to come with me now. I'll lock her up, keep her away from any sharp wooden objects." Klaus comments.

"She's not going anywhere with you."

"Well, if we leave her alone, she'll take her own life before the day is out."

"She's stronger than that."

"Is she?" Ophira asks.

"Believe me, it's for her own good." Klaus states.

Elena runs to the front door. Damon follows her.

"Elena!"

Klaus and Stefan are still outside. They hear the front door open and Elena runs onto the porch and stops. 

Klaus super speeds towards her "Imbolus," Ophira casts and Elena freezes. Klaus grabs Elena and Ophira, and leaves.
