Thirty five
03:25, 27 December 2016Riley got home and ran up her stairs.
Thankfully it was just black leggings, and a shirt. She got freshened up, and put on black knee shorts and a band vest. Wiping her shoes and fixing her hair, she managed to get done within the hour.
Still a bit of time though.
She grabbed her phone and made her way down the stairs, before she grabbed her purse.
"Riley?" Her dad called, and she stopped in her tracks. Turning towards the living room, her dad was walking out into the hallway. "Whats up?" She asked him. He smiled at her, before nodding. "Where you headed?" He asked.
"Out. With the girls." Riley told him. "Oh nice..." He cleared his throat. "Is...there a problem?" She asked. "No, not any problem." He began. "Um...your mom...and I were just having a conversation about this whole...situation earlier" He then told her.
"She at Aunt Jayne's again?" Riley asked, knowing the answer. "She went for tea. Look, honey...I don't want to seem like I'm the bad person here." He then sighed. "I just want, whats best for you. We had our hearts set on UWM! Its a great college for you" Her dad grinned. Riley stared at him.
"Dad...I was fifteen. I've changed a lot since then" She sighed. "You're still my daughter" He smiled. "I wanted to go there because the campus looked cool. I walked around with day after curly hair from plaits, I wore bootcut jeans with sneakers, and I was sure I was going to marry one of the Jonas brothers." She told him sarcastically.
"...Camp rock was your favorite movie..." Her dad looked away. "Exactly" Riley nodded. "...You werent worried about me marrying Nick Jonas" Riley scoffed. "Nick Jonas wasnt in the same city as you" Her dad turned to her.
"Oh come on dad..." Riley turned away, as she laughed silently. "I'm not going to leave and elope" She told her dad. "Riley, I'm your dad okay? Of course I have trust issues. I'm supposed to worry, and protect you!" He told her. "You dont have to worry, I'm a good judge of character. If I didnt think my friends were cool...I would not speak to them" Riley sighed.
"Riley, trust me you're not going to be around this Levi kid forever okay? You're going to graduate, and grow into a whole new environment with loads more people" He told her. "He'll meet other girls" He told her wide eyed.
Riley looked at him, rather offended. "Dad, he's not a fuckboy" She laughed. "Language!" He warned her. "You dont even know him! You think he goes around and hooks up with all these girls!" She folded her arms. "He's a teenage boy, I know!" Her dad nodded. "All teenagers think they will be together forever" He then continued.
"You dont know anything, you're just kids. You think that love is...some game. You dont stand a chance with this, we were just like you" He told her. Riley stared at him.
"As in you and mom?" She then realized. "...Riley" Her dad began. "No. Dont you dare stand there, and tell me this. You did this, instead of panning things out and discussing things you left and cheated. You, dad! You ruined it. Instead of being a man, and taking the heat, you took the easy way out!" Riley told him.
"So dont you dare, say that all boys and Levi are bad because you are just as bad!" Riley pointed. "Honey..." Her dad sighed. "Forget it! I'm going out" She turned and headed out.
