CHAPTER 20

Y/N's POV

After ending the call with Lisa, I went downstairs and saw Mom and Dad talking. I walked toward them.

"Mom, Dad... I'm going," I said.

"Where, sweetheart?" Dad asked.

"Just to meet our new neighbour," I replied.

"Oh, okay. Be safe and come home early," Mom said.

"Thanks, guys. Bye!" I said and quickly left—to meet Jungkook.

I went straight to his house like I always used to. Standing at his gate, I pressed the bell several times... but there was no response.

Maybe he went somewhere?

I was lost in my thoughts when I heard a familiar voice.

"Oh, Y/N, my dear, what happened? Do you need something?" Aunt asked.

"Nothing, Aunt. Um... where is the owner of this house?" I asked hesitantly.

"He left this house," she said calmly.

"What? Why?" I asked, shocked.

"I don't know, dear," she sighed. "Last time when I asked him why he was leaving, he just said he wanted to live in peace. Dear, I still don't understand what he meant."

"Oh... thank you, Aunt, for the information," I said.

My heart sank. I had hoped to meet him today... but he was gone.

"By the way, dear, why did you come?" Aunt asked.

"Actually, Aunt... when I heard about the new neighbour from you, I was excited to meet him. But he already left," I lied softly.

I couldn't risk her telling my parents the real reason.

"Oh dear, don't be sad. If destiny wants you both to meet, you will meet him," she said with a warm smile.

"Thanks, Aunt... I think I should go now," I said with a fake smile.

"Okay, bye dear," she said.

I walked back home quietly.

Inside, I saw Mom and Dad sitting together. I ran straight to Mom and hugged her from behind—just like I always do.

"Darling, what happened? You just left," Mom said.

"The new neighbour left... that's why," I sighed. "I'm going to my room."

I went upstairs.

I don't know why... but I felt like something bad was going to happen. Very bad. sigh Maybe it's just my overthinking.

It was night. Everyone was sleeping, but I couldn't. My mind was full of Jungkook. Why did he leave...?

Jungkook's POV

Riya... she is so caring toward me. Even after I hurt her, she still stays. Still tries to comfort me.

I was lost in thoughts when someone entered my room.

"Jungkook, back to earth," Riya said, snapping her fingers.

I blinked and came back to my senses.

"Come, I made dinner," she said.

I just looked at her silently.

"Jeon, where are you lost? Dinner is ready. Are you even listening to me?" she asked.

"Riya... You still love me?" I asked suddenly.

"Um... Jungkook, why are you asking this?" she said, confused.

"What if..." I paused, staring at her, "...I say I love you?"

She froze, staring at me.
