CHAPTER 14

Next Day — Y/N's POV

I woke up early, took a quick shower, and completed my morning routine. After that, I headed to the kitchen and started preparing my breakfast.

Y/n hair

Y/n makeup

Ding dong.

I froze. "Who came now?" I muttered under my breath as I walked toward the door.

When I opened it, my eyes widened.

"Mom? Dad?" "How are you, princess?" Dad said with a soft smile. "We're fine. Won't you let us come inside?" Mom added.

"Oh—yeah. Come in," I said, stepping aside.

We all settled in the living room.

"Wait, I'll bring water for you," I said politely. "Okay, dear," both of them replied.

I brought the glasses of water and we started with some light chit-chat... until Mom finally brought up the topic I was dreading.

"Y/N, you've grown up now. It seems like it's time for your marriage," she said gently.

I sighed. "Mom... I told you. I don't want to get married."

Dad exchanged a glance with Mom before speaking. "Y/N, we live outside Seoul. You stay alone here. It's not safe for a girl to live by herself. That's why we're searching for a suitor."

"But I don't like any of those men," I said, frustration filling my voice.

"Okay then," Mom said firmly. "If you can't choose, we will choose a groom for you."

"Mom!" I almost shouted.

"Dear, we first gave you the chance to choose your partner. You rejected everyone. So now just stay quiet and be a good girl," Dad said, his tone leaving no space for argument.

I clenched my jaw and looked away. "Let's... talk about something else," I murmured.

The room fell into a heavy silence.
