Hyemin tried to ignore the stares of her fellow schoolmates when she stepped into the school. 

What is up with everybody...

What bothered her was how weird her best friend was acting. During the whole weekend, they haven't talked at all, with Jiwon replying very dry responses to her texts. In addition to that, Jiwon didn't walk to school with her as usual.

And that made her overthink whether she did something wrong or not. The whole walk to school she thought of any reason why Jiwon would be mad. 

As if it wasn't bad enough, everyone's gaze was drawn to her as soon as she entered the school. She worried whether she had something stuck on her face, but there was nothing there when she checked.

Hyemin strode to the classroom, shrugging her thoughts away. She went to the bathroom since their stares made her feel quite uncomfortable.

Unfortunately, luck wasn't on her side today. Seeing who was in the bathroom, Hyemin wanted to turn back around but someone spoke up. 

"If it isn't Ms center-of-attention," Areum smirked, folding her arms and walking towards her. 

Hyemin concluded that it definitely was not worth it to argue with someone like Areum so early in the morning. She turned around to leave but Areum's next words made her stop in her tracks.

"Who would've known. I thought y'all hated each other or something." she rolled her eyes. 

Before Areum could say another word, the bell rang signaling that classes were starting. Hyemin had so many questions running through her mind at the moment. 

But she assumed Areum was mistaken or something. She turned around and began walking in the direction of her class, but she quickly realized she wanted to take something from her locker, so she reversed paths.

She had only been here for an hour and already wished she could leave. She had no idea if Jiwon had arrived yet because they were in different classrooms and they didn't come to school together today.

Hyemin punched in her lock code and her hand reached for her earphones. 

By now, the hallways were cleared and everyone was in their respective classes. Everyone except Hyemin. 

So you can imagine she got the shock of her life when someone's hand slammed the locker beside her. Turning around, she was met face to face with a rather angry-looking Park Sunghoon.

"Park Sunghoon? What-" 

"Why are people saying we're dating?" He frowned. 

Hyemin choked on air if that was possible. She couldn't believe what she was hearing right now. Was that why everyone kept staring at her earlier?

On the other hand, Sunghoon was evidently furious. When he arrived, the first thing he heard was that he and Kang Hyemin were dating? If it were any other girl he wouldn't be as mad. 

But Sunghoon immediately assumed that Hyemin was the one who spread the rumors. So when he found out from Jay and Jake, he went around the entire school looking for Kang Hyemin.

"W-who said that?"

"I thought you were the one who was spreading the rumors?" Sunghoon asked, confusion written all over his face. 

Hyemin poked her tongue into her cheek and furrowed her eyebrows, "Yah Park Sunghoon, how shallow do you think I am? Why would I even spread those rumors, especially if my dislike towards you is so obvious." 

She could not believe he'd suspect her. Out of all people she had to be stuck in this mess. With her rival at that. She just wished she could disappear at the moment. 

Why do I have so much bad luck?

"Then who the hell is spreading those rumors?" He sighed frustatedly and ran his fingers through his hair. 

Something in her guts told her that a certain someone had something to do with this. 

"Hyunwoo..." She muttered. "What exactly did you tell Hyunwoo last Friday?" She spoke up.

"I just told him to leave you alone and said he'd be in trouble if I ever saw him near you again," Sunghoon explained half of it. 

"Where did Jay and Jake hear it from?" she questioned.

"From Areum I think." 

A flashback of their interaction earlier came into her mind. Then she pieced the pieces together.  

"He had something to do with this. He probably got mad and possibly said something to Areum then." 

"How are you so sure?" 

"I dated him for years, I know what makes him mad and this definitely did." 

"Well whatever it is I'm denying everything and you will too." Sunghoon simply stated. 

Hyemin was about to agree but then a thought struck her. If they denied the rumors, would Hyunwoo start bothering her again? 

This all started when Sunghoon told him to stop bothering her so it was obvious if they denied this, he would start bothering her. 

She just had a tick-free weekend and the thought of it all going away, she really didn't want that. 

God, can't I just live in peace?

"Wait. If we do that, then Hyunwoo's gonna start bothering me- Ah never mind." She shook her head.

He stopped in his tracks. In a sense, he knew she was right. And he did feel a tad bit guilty since perhaps he wasn't being 100% honest when he was explaining it to Hyemin. 

"After school. I-LAND cafe. Be there." was all Sunghoon said before walking away. 

Hyemin stood there, so many questions running through her head. For a while, she forgot she was already late for her first class but when she finally remembered, she hurried to her class.

Once the bell rang and it was time for lunch, Hyemin rushed to her best friend's classroom. A smile made its way to her lips when she saw her in her seat.

"Hey. Were you busy during the weekends? Because-"Hyemin couldn't even finish her sentence since Jiwon slammed her book shut loudly. She knew her best friend was giving her the silent treatment but why?

Is she mad?

Jiwon got her wallet and left the classroom, leaving Hyemin there all confused. Jiwon headed to the library and Hyemin followed her there. 

It was really strange as her best friend never missed lunch. But now she was in the library? 

Hyemin on the other hand was starving due to skipping breakfast this morning. 

"I'm gonna go eat lunch so if you're looking for me, I'll be in the cafeteria." She spoke up, breaking the intense silence between the two. 

She got up and walked to the cafeteria. She groaned at how tiring today has been and it was just the beginning of the week. 

to some of yall who came from daisy lemme explain some thangs;

so basically the things that are happening rn is happening at the same time in daisy chapter 40. 

so that's why in chapter 40, there were rumors going around that he and hyemin were dating.
