Day 23- Threaten

23:40, 17 September 2016

"And that would be 19 bucks, good sir." I said and handed him his plastic bag.

"Thank you, and here you go." The man in black suit handed me the change.

"Thank you sir and have a great day!"

Promptly, the man received a call and left the store.Another customer came with me with a bouquet of flowers.Today's actually quite a busy day and I have no idea why. And the best thing is, the manager promised to give me double the salary once he comes back from his vacation to Hawaii.

"That would be 12 bucks, ma'am." I tied a ribbon around the stems and handed it to the beautiful looking lady.

"12 bucks....and thank you." She gave me the change with a smile.

"Have a great day!"

"Excuse me, uh...could you leave your post for a while Erza-San?" The customer said.

Wait, how does she know my name?

"How do you--?"

"The badge." She chuckled.

"Oh...uh, but I can't leave my post right now, there is no one to care of the store except I...but, why?"

"The thing is, I wanted to talk to you about something."

Hold on, now that I notice her, I think I have seen her somewhere before...

"About what?" I asked.

"Well, if you would have a cup of coffee with me, maybe we could talk then."

I looked at my watch, 2:36 P.M. In half an hour, Mirajane would be here for her shift so maybe I could be free then...

"Is it important?"

"To be honest, yes and I would like you to accept my invitation since I'm quite a busy women." She raised her brows.

"O-Kay...Can you wait for half an hour?"

She looked at her watch and sighed, "maybe."

"Cool, then please wait at the Cafe across, I will be there at three."

"All right Erza-San, but please do keep this mind that this is an unavoidable matter and that its necessary that I talk to you without further delays."

Seriously? What could be so important? Did I do something...?

I hesitantly nodded and she left the store after giving me a faint smile.

--

"Arigatou Mirajane for taking over. I'll be back in another hour or so."

"Daijobu Erza, I bet you have something important to take care of so, go."

"Thank you Mirajane!" I hugged her and dashed out the store.Directly, I headed to the cafe across and noticed the lady in pink hair sitting near the window seat while reading a book.

I walked over to her, still confused as to what "important matter" she wants to talk about and knocked the table a few times.

"Oh," she raised her head in slight surprise and smiled at me, "hey again, have a seat Erza-San." She placed her book beside her and folded her palms.

"Um...may I know who you are?" I asked sitting across her.

"I thought you might have recognised me by now..." She frowned.

"I do think I have seen you somewhere."

"Well, it's quite a pity that you don't remember such a lovely face but anyways...I'm Meredy, Jellal's fiancé."

"Eh?!" I jolted up from my seat with a loud bang on the table, "Meredy-San?"

"Oh my, you seem surprised." She chuckled.

So that's where I saw her! At the restaurant with Jellal! What do I do now? Do I act like I don't know Jellal? No, but obviously, she might know that I'm related to him so that's why she wants to talk to me but I can't just tell his fiancé that I love her fiancé! UGH!!!! Should I just run away from here?

"Please Erza-San, you are embarrassing me, have a seat, will you?"

I looked around and noticed a few people looking at me in a strange way. I bowed to them for creating a nuisance and sat back.

"Uh...Meredy-San, I don't want to get to the point but...what do you want to talk about?"

"It's actually good to get to the point and I like people who get to the point," she laughed, "Anyways, getting to the point, I don't want to be rude, but I want you to stay away from Jellal."

"Eh?"

"I know how close you both have been getting lately. You going to his house and he asking you out for dates. I'm not stalking or anything but you know, things like these just can't be hidden no matter how much you try them to hide."

"Wait, you are mistaken here, there is nothing going on between me and--"

"Yea yea, I was expecting that dialogue but seriously Erza-San, a girl can't hide her emotions. The way she feels for man," she drew closer to me and whispered, "Her eyes tells it all."

My eyes widened, and throat went dry.

This Meredy women...what is she?

"I'm sure you're no illiterate to know the meaning of fiancé, right Erza-San?"

"Listen Meredy-San, I don't want to lie to you now, so I will be honest here. Yes, I like Jellal...I like him very much, and you know a girl in love won't back down until she has the guy she loves." I crossed my arms.

"Oooo are you threatening me?" She scoffed.

"No, I don't mean any harm to you. I'm just saying that it's on. I didn't want this but--" I got up from my seat, "unexpectedly, you became my rival and now there's no turning back, only of course, if you decided to let go of him."

"For a middle-class girl, you have a lot of attitude and over-confidence." She smirked, "Well, I would love to see you take Jellal away from me."

"And I would love to see you see me do it."

Meredy laughed, grabbed her book and got up, "It was nice meeting you, though I didn't like the threatening part but you seem fun to be around with. Let's meet again next time, hm?" She wore her sunglasses and walked past me.

For a few seconds, I stood still. Confused, blank, and expressionless. What just happened? Did I just started a war between a wealthy lady whom I don't even know?

I crashed on my seat and took a long, deep breath.

I can do it, right? I can win Jellal's heart! I can show her that even a middle-class girl can win the heart of the man she loves!

I HAVE to do this...

There's no turning back now!

Meredy, it's on! The rivalry between you and me...It's so on!
