Day 11- Helpless (Last Part)

18:13, 6 August 2016

"It's a promise we have to fulfill." She said.

"Promise?"

"Yea, a promise made 18 years ago. You see, my dad and I were broken at the time when we found out that you were about to come into this world. Your dad didn't have a job, we were in a rented house but the owner suddenly raised the rent too high so we had to leave for good, and believe me, we begged and begged to let us stay until your dad gets a job but that owner was as heartless as anyone could be, and we didn't have a place to go, we were in desperate need of help Erza. Then one day, your dad bumped into Gray's dad at a convenience store, they were classmates in senior high, not best friends but they knew each other well. Dad couldn't help but let out his feelings over a glass of whiskey, you know how he gets when he's drunk right, he can't contain his emotions that well, and so we became indebted to Mr.Fullbuster. He is a very kind, gentle and generous man. He helped us a lot really; gave us a house, gave dad a job in a company, gave us our happiness back, and then you were born. A beautiful red-haired young lady who colored our black and white lives."

"Mom, can you uh..get to the point please?" I asked. I didn't want to cut her off but I really want to know what made mom arrange my marriage with Gray.

"Sorry...I just got immersed too much..so yea, on a sunny day like this, your dad and I met Gray's dad with Gray and Mr.Fullbuster really had a liking upon seeing you and then out of the blue he said, "Listen Ed, I want your daughter to marry my son when they grow up. I want Erza to be my daughter-in-law." And that's how it ended. We didn't have any objection whatsoever cause we knew how much of a good man Mr.Fullbuster is, so your dad and he bumped heads as a promise and I can't believe the time actually came for you to become a Fullbuster."

For real?

And she had to fulfill the promise? Couldn't she break it? Couldn't she tell Mr.Fullbuster that his "daughter-in-law" needs time to think this over? They didn't even ask me if I like Gray or not! Plus it's just the second time I met him!

Ughhhhhhhhh!!!!!

You know what, I need to take this calmly...

Breath in and breath out-

"MOM!" I suddenly shouted, and she jerked back a little.

"Whoa there, don't raise your voice at me young lady, everyone's watching." She slapped my thigh and I took a deep breath.

"I'm sorry...but really..Do you need to fulfill this promise? Can't you break it?"

"No."

"But you didn't even ask me."

"I don't need to. I'm your mother and you have to do what I tell you to."

"But there's a thing called, 'My Liking' and 'Freedom'."

"Uh-huh, you have all the freedom you want Erza and about your liking, I know what you like and I know that you will like Gray as well."

"Mom-"

"I'm your mom. I know your likes and dislikes."

I faintly groaned, "I know you know but Isn't it too soon..I mean it would have been better if we get to know each other better before getting engaged." I wiggled my ring finger to her.

"You can get to know him now too, there's what-another month for a marriage."

"Wait what? You even decided the date?"

My heart was cringing, it was crying, it was shouting but I had to keep it all inside because she was my mom. There was no way I could raise my voice at her.

Seriously mom..why?

"Yea, June 15th."

"June 15th?"

"June 15th."

"June 15th huh..."

"It's gonna pass like the wind right."

"Mom..I need time to think."

"Take all your time, but my decision is set and you're getting married to Gray."

"Can't I do anything to-change your mind on this?"

"You could have but this promise thing will overlap with whatever you say so it would pretty much be useless."

She got up from her seat and so did I. "This coffee was weird..anyways, Gray might be waiting."

"Sure.." I sighed and we left the Cafe.

--

"So I see Mrs. Scarlet told you the heart-touching story?" Gray asked lightly chuckling.

"Yea..real heart-touching." I crossed my arms.

"I'm sorry but it was actually her idea of the "Ring thing".."

"Figured.."

"So..You're not angry or anything?"

"I am but there's nothing I can do right now..I can't argue with her, or my dad..so I just have to go with it right?" I looked at him and he looked at me back. "Can't you do anything?"

"Well...I'm stuck in this matter just like you. I tried arguing, but it was pointless...I know they want the good for me and I want the good for myself too but trying to change their mind has gotten me..you know deep into this marriage thing and they hurriedly decided everything before I could get myself a girlfriend."

"Oh man...Everything's become so hopeless and I feel so helpless!" I said and kicked a pebble.

"Not really..Maybe if you can spend some time with me, we might fall for each other."

I stared into his eyes, and I noticed that it was black. So jet black, so deep and so...sincere.

"Maybe.." I uttered.

There was silence between us, for seconds, for awkward moments.

"Should I drop you home?" He finally asked.

"Ugh no my mom is-"

"She already left."

"Wha-She already left?"

"Yea..I thought you knew."

"Wow mom..." I can't believe she planned all this just to get me to stay with Gray..

How childish can she get...

"Sure uh..yea let's go." I said and began walking.

"You seem disappointed." He followed behind me.

"Not disappointed, just confused and tired."

"Don't worry, eventually everythings going to settle out."

Huh..everythings going to settle out huh..eventually.

"Hopefully.."
