40. Cap's Little Girl
20:18, 21 November 2024In the past two years, I had physically matured but not grown in height. I was 5'3, which was small compared to my dad with the super-soldier serum. My brown hair now reached just above my waistline, and I had been wearing it in a half-up, half-down hairstyle while on the run. Wanda had gone to spend time with Vision in an unknown location, and we would retrieve her in about a week. I was reading on my Kobo while Dad, Uncle Sam, and Aunt Nat played a card game I didn't understand. Later, Aunt Nat and Uncle Sam went out to get us something to have for dinner. Dad and I decided to try and practise a few combat moves in the empty gym for a few minutes. We were only practising hand-to-hand combats. Dad threw a punch, but I blocked it. When he was not expecting it, I grabbed Dad's wrist and tripped him. This caused Dad to fall forward, and I pulled him over me. Dad landed on his back and groaned. I smirked proudly, then helped him up.
"Are you ok?" I giggled.
"Better than ever," Dad replied with a chuckle. He placed his hand on my cheek, and I nuzzled into it. When I opened my eyes, Dad had a smile on his face but tears in his eyes.
"Dad? What is it?" I pulled his hand off my face and held it in both my hands.
"Nothing, Baby."
I raised an eyebrow.
"There's definitely something wrong, Dad."
"You're just so grown up. When I met you, you were a little 11-year-old girl. Now, you're seventeen and beating me."
"Daddy, stop it," I shyly smiled. Looking back at Dad's face, I noticed his beard, "You know, you're starting to look a little bit like Uncle Thor with that beard."
"Am I?" Dad chuckled while stroking the sides of his beard. I laughed before we both got a text from Aunt Nat saying dinner was here.
Nothing lasts forever...
