37. Crush?
13:30, 20 November 2024The five of us were currently sitting in our hotel room at a two-star hotel. Although the hotel sucked, we were able to get a room with two beds. One bed for the girls and one for the men. I was lying on one of the beds and looking up 'Spider-man in Queens, New York" on YouTube. I was curious about who the mystery hero was. Dad sat down next to me and looked at my phone.
"Have a little crush, huh?" Dad asked, and I sat up immediately.
"What?" I protested, "Absolutely not! What gave you that idea?"
"Sam said you two were flirting a little bit."
I looked over at my uncle Sam to glare at him before explaining myself,
"Spider-man, or Peter, seemed to find me interesting, so I tried to get in his head. I don't even know who he is. For all we know, he could be a 30-year-old man." I crossed my arms with a stern pout on my face. Dad chuckled at me and shook his head. I noticed Aunt Nat and Wanda trying to hold in their giggles but focused on what Dad said,
"I doubt that he is that much older than you. He didn't sound or act like a 30-year-old."
I softened my expression when Uncle Sam joined in the conversation,
"I also heard Tony refer to him as 'Kid'."
I sent him a softer glare than the first time, still upset about him telling on me, and then turned to Dad again.
"Honey, if you have a crush, then you have a crush. You're fifteen. It's normal."
Feeling slightly uncomfortable with the discussion topic, I stood and offered,
"Does anyone want anything from the vending machine down the hall? I can text you what options there are."
They all agreed, and I stepped out into the hall. Once I arrived at the vending machine, I leaned my back against the wall and let out a breath of air. Did I have a small crush on Spider-man? Maybe. But what were the odds of us meeting again when I was currently a fugitive on the run? Not to mention, I probably wasn't even his type. I gave up thinking about what seemed like the impossible and focused on getting everyone snacks from the terrible selection.
