Face To Face

07:14, 19 May 2025

The warehouse was thick with silence, broken only by the echo of their footsteps. Derek’s eyes never left the unsub’s figure, a dark silhouette etched against the flickering overhead lights.

“You don’t know what you’re dealing with,” the unsub sneered, voice cold and venomous.

“I know enough,” Derek said, steady and calm. “You’re finished.”

The unsub laughed, a hollow sound. “You think you can protect her? That little woman’s just a weak link.”

Derek’s jaw tightened. “She’s stronger than you’ll ever be.”

Suddenly, the unsub lunged forward, a flash of movement. Derek reacted instantly, blocking the attack and driving the man back.

The fight was brutal, a clash of raw strength and desperate survival.

But Derek’s training, his determination—and his heart—gave him the edge.

As the unsub faltered, Derek grabbed his arm, twisting it until the man dropped his weapon.

Panting, Derek pressed his gun to the man’s temple.

“This is over.”

The unsub’s eyes burned with hatred, but there was defeat there too.

Behind Derek, footsteps approached.

Makayla stepped into the light, now recovered but still guarded.

She met Derek’s gaze, and for a moment, words weren’t needed.

He stepped aside as the team cuffed the unsub.

Outside, the night air was cool, a sharp contrast to the heat of the fight.

Derek reached for Makayla’s hand.

“Babygirl,” he whispered, “you’re safe now.”

She squeezed his hand back.

“For the first time in a long time.”
