Demitra's pov

Auroras family is here. There's young cousins running around the house, her aunts and uncles scattered throughout every room. Her home is warm and cozy. With candles and the smell of homemade food.

Even if I wanted to, I just can't stop smiling. At first I felt silly because of it, but over the time me and my sisters have been here, I've embraced the incredibly warm and safe feeling I get from Aurora's home.

And not too far from that subject, Aurora herself has been infected by the cozy energy. If I'm being honest, I think she is the source of the infection.

I look to where she is now, pulling a tray of cookies out of the oven. She's helping her family bake in the kitchen while me and my sisters sit across from Auroras brothers in the living room. We're all getting to know each other, with the hum of conversations on the other side of the couch between Auroras family.

She's wearing a short cream sweater dress, with brown fuzzy socks and her hair in two messy braided plaits from when her 5 year old cousin did it.

As if sensing my eyes on her, Aurora turns around and locks eyes with me, her lips spreading into a warm smile. They aren't painted pink tonight, and her natural rosy color just has me aching to finish that kiss we almost had a few nights ago even more.

Hand in hand with said little cousin, she enters the living room with her magical glow trailing behind, and sits down. Right next to me.

I bite my lip and adjust in my seat, telling myself the tension between us has settled down. For tonight, at least.

Macy, her cousin that has her same brown hair and brown eyes, is giggling in Auroras lap as they play beak a boo. After a while Macys mom takes her away and her chocolate lab has replaced her in fighting for Auroras lap.

Chris and both of my sisters start giggling over something he said, but I don't hear it. I'm too busy trying not to freak out over what the girl next to me is saying.

She giggles, hoisting the big dog into her lap. "Good girllll" she says in that high pitched, dragged out way people talk to animals.

I run a hand over my face. I'm helpless. Gosh this is so embarrassing, am I really getting turned on by words meant for a dog?

Aurora turns towards me for a second, grins, and then turns back to Brownie. "Go lick Demitra's face, yeah? Yeahhhh, good girl. Go lick Demitra's face."

Brownie obeys her orders, but who am I kidding, I almost did too, and crawls over to me. I start immediately laughing as the dog slobbers all over me. "No! Bad Brownie! Go back to your mommy."

I turn my head, seeing Aurora staring at me with a red face. Oops.

"DINNERS READY!!!" Auroras mom calls from the kitchen.

Auroras pov

A few hours later, me and Demitra are outside in the freezing cold, taking Brownie on a walk. And every time I look at the dang dog, all I remember is how Demitra called me mommy.

It's not awkward between us. And after all our interactions in the past week, I definitely expected it to be. But it's comfortable, walking with her. The world is silent, left back at home, and it's just me, Demitra, and the street lamps. And of course Brownie.

"So you're a fan of us?" She asks into the pitch black air, her breath fogging up in front of her. I like the sound of her voice. It's calm and slightly raspy and teasing and sweet.

I nod. "Yeah, since day one. I went and got crumbl right after your first video." I laugh slightly at the memory, and Demitra whips her head towards me, a grin pulling on her lips. She scans me from head to toe and looks back to the road.

"I'm a fan of your channel too. I wasn't before, but ever since the who knows our sister best, I have." She says, and I have to focus to keep my feet from stumbling. So right after I get on the channel, that's when she's a fan?

"Maybe Brownie can meet Romeo and Gigi one day." I laugh. And then Brownie chooses to take a poop on someone's yard, and I give an expecting look to Demitra, holding out a plastic bag.

We talk like that the whole walk. And it's addictingly peaceful out, my feet don't even want to carry themselves to my heated home.

But eventually they do, and as soon as me and Demitra have settled, Eliana pulls me aside.

Everyone is still in the living room, a football game played on our TV. But me and Eli are in the hallway, my stomach twisting at the possible things that might come out of her mouth.

"What's up with you and Demi? I mean have you guys ever recovered from the dress drink incident? I feel like there's this—"

She stops talking because my face is beet red. I know because I can feel it, my whole body temperature increasing every word that comes from Eli's mouth.

"Eli I.." I look away and half cover my face with a hand. "You can't tell anyone this."

She nods three times, seriousness laced in her eyes.

"I like Demitra. Like, like like."

Surprise flickers in her eyes for a millisecond, before dwindling into amusement. "You know, I think she likes you too."

Hey guys, long authors note be warned.

I've been really struggling on this book lately, I have no motivation to write whatsoever and every time I try to type, the chapter never satisfies me.

I've been gaining so many ideas and motivation for a squid game fanfic, so I was debating on totally discontinuing this one to go work on that.

But I decided I don't want to do that to all my amazing wonderful supporters, so I will be finishing this! Even if it's not the best T-T

But thanks so much guys! The story will be finished in the next day or so, because I want to start my squid game one as soon as possible.

Tysm for all the love ❤️
