Chapter 1: Choi Dea
02:31, 11 September 2020"Oh gosh, I don't know why I'm so nervous," I giggle, fixing blue button up that went with my black skirt I had chosen as my first day of school attire. It was my first day of High School in a new neighborhood and, obviously, school. Jiwoo turns with a similar hint of happiness in her smile before agreeing. "I hear it's a great school. Better than the others that we could've gotten into," she replies, running her fingers through her straight, black hair that hung sharply at her shoulders. "It's still a miracle that we ended up together." "I agree. Imagine if we had to only see each other after school. I would not live to see the next day," I say, smiling brightly into the small mirror in my hand. We stood outside the building, older students talking and entering the familiar academy. Unlike us freshmen who barely knew the sight of the 5 story high school. "We better go. Don't wanna be those freshies that are late on their first day," she manages a weak smile probably from fear while I stash the mirror back into her bag. "Thanks," I sigh, catching sigh of tall senior girls and boys laughing and talking after a long summer of not seeing one another. "I can't do it." "Well, you kinda don't have a choice," she sighs as well before taking my hand in hers and pulling me towards the polished marble steps and into the common area with high ceilings and many students. "Well, damn. That's a good sign," she stares in awe at the large windows overhead, letting in the morning light and the sight of the ocean sky. "It's a start. I'm just scared to share a hall with some seniors," I breathe as she navigated us through many halls and stairs with a map each of us received. We probably looked like typical freshmen to the surrounding piers. She suddenly comes to a stop in front of a hall of red lockers, a few already being occupied by some people we had back in middle school. "Right, I'm 927." "I'm 869," I reply, finding her locker closer to the stairs while mine was at the end of the hall near a group of senior boys laughing about something. I couldn't help but lay my eyes on them for longer than expected. 'Since when did seniors actually look...attractive?' There seemed to be 7 all huddled around one another while staring at one in particular's phone. The one presenting the amusing screen was just a bit shorter than the rest with chestnut hair and bangs that fitted him perfectly. "Mm, I see you've found them," she sighs, allowing myself to shake out of my trance to see I was still beside her at her locker. "S-Sorry, what?" I ask as a taller one with blonde hair and a rounded face let's out a laugh before playfully punching another blonde who was a bit shorter and held the prettiest blue eyes. "A junior snapped me the other day. She's a friend of mine who apparently said that the senior boys here are absolutely terrible," she explains, slamming her locker shut and turning to face them while crossing her arms. "Apparently they are the biggest fuckboys in South Korea." "I doubt that," I breathe, my eyes still not removing from them. "They look...normal." "Attentive is what you mean," she immediately corrects, my eyes rolling in return. "Their names are Namjoon, Jimin, Jin, Jungkook, Hoseok, Taehyung, and Yoongi." "And they're seniors?" I ask, finally looking back at her to find her glaring at the boys. She turns back to face me with one eyebrow cocked in annoyance. "Yep," she presses her lips together just as the bell rings. "Right, English is first for me." "Oh," I reply, looking back at all 7 of them entering a classroom near where my locker was. "I'll just organize around lunch. I've got Algebra 2," I reply, people swarming past us left and right, trying to not end up late as most of them were freshmen. "Alright, see you at lunch," she waves before blending into the crowd towards the stairs leading up to the English wing. Pulling up my schedule on my phone, I read the room name of my first class. "284," I read aloud, beginning to walk forward while still looking down at my phone. That probably wasn't a good idea because I immediately run into someone, allowing my device to fall screen first. My head shoots up in anger to find a boy about a foot taller than me with ruffled hair in the beautiful shade of a dark, dark magenta almost. His hazel eyes glared at me through those small slits in his face, clearly looking just as angry as me. "Uh, do you mind?" I accidentally spit out, gesturing down to my phone lying screen first on the white marble still. Those cold eyes follow my hand before glancing back up at me after growing uninterested. "Maybe look where you're going, freshie," he mutters, his small figure, compared to the other boys, towering over me coldly. His hands were shoved in the pockets of his black, ripped jeans paired with white sneakers and a dark red button up that went well with his ruffled hair occupied by some bangs. One of his hands removes themselves from his jeans before bending down and picking up the purple cased phone. He cocks an eyebrow at the sight of my screen that was cracked right through the middle. My jaw dropped at the damage. "You'll wanna get that fixed," he mutters, holding out to me with his ringed hand that complimented his heavy wear of earrings. Small chains and crosses decorated his ears while silver bands with simple designs fit nicely on his long fingers. I take my phone, still speechless at his response. He suddenly turns back around, his hand now back in his pocket while entering the classroom in which the others did. 'He was one of them...' I wanted to shout to him to come back but when my mouth opened nothing came out. That made me angry, but not as frustrating as it was to have a broken phone that I was to fix when he ran into me. 'What is your problem?' I think to myself as I walk to the classroom across from theirs. As I opened the door though, it just occurred to me that I was that freshman who was late to their first class their first day. 'Great,' I think as every liar of eyes land on me. 'What a great first day.'
