I Know That You Love Me, Even When I Lose My Head

20:05, 8 September 2018

Heat.It was the heat that captivated them in each other. The heat coming off of the other's body, the heat that warmed them to the core of their beings. The heat of the other that became their own. They craved more of the heat.

Taste. It was the taste of the other that each boy was obsessed with. The new flavor of sweet and spicy saliva blending to create a taste on a whole new level. It was better than any food either of them would have ever eaten. It left them both starved for more, more of each other's sapor. It left one utterly helpless to the other.

Scent. It was the musk of the other that made both paladins infatuated with each other. Cool ocean breezes collided with fresh wood, creating a mix of the two smells that enveloped both males and drove their endorphins insane. It filled their noses and the air around them, it filled up the room around them with the newfound aura of lust that was pretentious to just them. Just the two of them.

Skin. It was the feel of smooth skin of the other under the pads of their hands. Cool to the touch yet burning hot at the same time. It was the muscles of Lance's speckled sohulders beneath Keith's fingers as he traced the Cuban's shoulder blades up to the scar that he got from the shot. It was was the the hard feeling of Keith's abs and his softer hips under Lance's palms as his hands traveled below the Korean's shirt and gripped his skin. Keith let out a gasp as Lance dug his nails into Keith's perfectly milky flesh and Lance took the opportunity to take the dominance that they both had been fighting for.

Lips. It was the softness and sweetness of their meshed lips that made the rest of the world melt away for the pair. That made time stop and the particles around them freeze up as their only focus was on each other. It was the spark that ignited when their lips connected that sent shivers and tingles up and down their bodies. That forced their brains to completely shut down with all but one thought.

Him.

His heat, his his taste, his scent, his skin, his lips, his everything.

Him.

The kiss was heavy, neither one of them wanted to part and lose all the things that the other was providing them. Neither of them wanted to feel the loss of Lance running his tongue behind Keith's teeth. Or the feeling of Keith lightly rubbing circles into Lance's scar and gripping it every once in a while. Or the feeling of Lance's hand running up and down Keith's abdomen while his other had traveled up to Keith's hair and tangled in it, yanking it a little a times. Somehow the boys ended up laid over the bed, Lance on top of Keith, but still neither one had broke the kiss, they just kept going with it.

Keith was still fighting for dominance over Lance and got it when he shoved his body against the Cuban's and flipped him over, taking advantage of his open mouth after making a shocked noise. Now he was on top and he took over hungrily, getting a feel for the inside of Lance's mouth, Lance didn't really fight back. They kept at it until Keith placed his gloved hand over Lance's chest and pushed himself away. Lance whined at the loss of Keith's mouth pressed into his, but soon started to gladly drink in the air around him. Though this proved to be a little difficult since Keith was still sitting on top of him, but he didn't mind, Lance quite liked the view he had of the Korean's flushed, lustful face hovering a foot over his.

"That was..."

"Wow." Keith finished for him.

Lance smirked. "Yeah, wow." His facemask was smudged beyond salvageable, his towel disappeared a long time ago, and his lips were swollen. Keith's face was completely red and had gooey blobs of Lance's facemask all over it, his lips fared no better.

For a while they just stayed like that, their faces close yet far apart at the same time as their brains started to slowly reboot, processing what just happened and trying to find an appropriate action to follow to make things not awkward.

So Lance chose to laugh.

It started out as small bursts of giggles but eventually grew into a bone shaking fit of mirth. Keith heaved a few more breaths with a confused look on his face, staring down at Lance with pure bewilderment staining his stormy irises. At some point he joined in, carefully chuckling along before an all out eruption of laughter burst from his mouth. Soon they were both just cracking up together, Keith had fallen off of Lance and onto his side, still facing the taller male as they practically choked on the air from excessive amount of chortling. Their faces were red and there were tears escaping their eyes from the heavy laughter, but neither cared.

"Ah god, what are we doing?" Lance asked after they had calmed down a bit, covering his eyes with his hand.

"I don't know! I was just following you!" Keith exclaimed, still on his side so that he could be facing him.

"I had no idea what I was doing! I just...I don't know." They fell silent after that, Lance looking at the ceiling and Keith gazing at Lance's face. Even with the messed up glops of his green facemask he still managed to look heavenly with a blush sprayed across his face adding to the mix of cuteness that was overtaking Keith.

But what are you doing? What am I doing? This is so wrong, so confusing, so...so irrational, yet I can't get enough of this. I don't want this red-hot feeling to ever go away, Keith thought to himself as he took in the light freckles on Lance's nose that peeked out from under the ruined facemask.

"Lance...what are we?" Keith asked somberly, trying to catch his ocean blue eyes with his own stormy purple ones.

"I'm not sure. What do you want us to be?" Lance questioned, looking at Keith from the corner of his eyes.

"Well logically, I want to be your friend."

"And, illogically?" Lance shifted so that he too was laying on his side so that he could look the shorter boy in the eye.

"Illogically, I want to do this again. I want to keep kiss-kissing you," Keith stuttered, "and I want to maybe do more-more than that, only if you want to though! But-but yeah, that's what I want."

Lance stated unblinkingly at him.

"Wh-what? Sorry was that too much? God I'm and idiot don't listen to me I just-"

"I want that too," Lance cut him off, reaching a hand out to brush a thick strand of Keith's hair out of said paladins eyes. Lance loved Keith's eyes, they were the most interesting color he had ever seen in his entire life. A stormy gray mixed in with a violent purple color creating a deep, soul ripping shade of beauty. "I want to kiss, and do more than kiss, and I only want to do that with you."

Keith blushed, "but...but I don't want to be just friends with benefits or anything. I want a real relationship with someone I can trust to hold my heart and not smash it to the ground. So if you only want my body then I'm not giving it to you, but...something tells me that's not the only reason we both want this illogical thing." Keith reached up to Lance's hand which has been rested in his face and curled his own finger over it.

"I'm okay with that. I don't want you for-for your body, even though it's a nice perk-" Keith scowled by didn't say anything "-and I'll never break your heart, I promise. Let's do this, let's make an us," Lance whispered, still looking Keith in the eye.

"It's not that I don't want this, it's just...are we rushing into this? I mean, we just kissed and suddenly we decided to be a c-couple?" Keith asked, stammering as the unfamiliar words fell from his mouth. It's not as if Keith has never been in a committed relationship before. But before that day, Keith never thought it, as even the smallest possibility, that he and Lance would ever date. In fact, if you asked Keith from a while ago if he ever thought that he and Lance would be close friends in the future he probably would've laughed in your face.

Or asked who you were and told you to fuck off.

More probably the latter.

You fucking creep, how did it even get so far into space?

"Well...isn't that what's supposed to make this so illogical?" Lance asked in a hushed tone.

"No, what's illogical is that's at some point, for some reason, I fell for you," Keith said, matter of factly.

Lance drew his hand away from Keith's and placed it over his bare chest, "you wound me babe!" he said with a play hurt look in his face.

Keith's face burned but he rolled his eyes anyway. "Oh please, you can handle that. And 'babe'? Is that what we're doing. I don't think I want to sign up for this Lance."

"'Oh please'," Lance mimicked, "don't act like you don't love it!"

Keith just looked away and grumbled something.

"Uh what was that? I couldn't hear you buddy," Lance teased.

"Don't ruin the moment!" Keith growled, glaring at the Cuban.

"Mm, I don't think that's what you said~" Lance pushed.

"Well tough luck trying to figure it out, cause I won't tell," Keith grumpily whisper shouted. Lance just laughed lightly at him.

"I can get you to spill within the next ten seconds," Lance said smugly, confidence painted across his face as bright as sunlight.

"I'd like to see you try," Keith challenged. Lance just smirked (once again oh my god) and quick as a flash had climbed on top of Keith, sitting on his stomach so that the Korean wouldn't be able to move properly. And just as Lance anticipated Keith tried to wiggle away, but he wasn't able to, he might've had more skill than Lance, but the Cuban was undoubtedly stronger than him.

"Then don't take your eyes off of me," Lance spoke huskily. Keith's eyes practically bugged out of his head but he was at a loss for words, so he just nodded.

Lance leaned over, his mouth hovering just above Keith's ear. "C'mon, say something Samurai."

Keith's mouth went dry and his mind went blank, it was almost as if Lance had cast some sort of spell over him, causing him to flush on struggle to get out from under the taller male again. Lance giggled at Keith's futile attempts to escape.

"I guess I've finally made the ever-so-stoic Keith Kogane a speechless, flustered mess," Lance spoke lowly into Keith's ear, causing the smaller male to shiver. Lance trailed his hands down Keith's chest and to his sides, moving his face slightly so that he was staring right through Keith's eyes, almost as if he were piercing the red paladin's very soul. Then he poked Keith's sides harshly. Keith gasped as Lance let his fingers dance around his sides and found a ball of nerves. Keith let out a yelp and started laughing uncontrollably as Lance tickled that spot mercilessly.

"Sto-I can't! Lance I can't breathe!" Keith wheezed.

"It will all be over if you just fess up what you said Kogane!"

"Never!" Lance tickled him even more harshly than before, of that was even possible, and Keith chortled even harder, if that was even possible, until he patted (hit) Lance's arm to signal for him to quit it before Keith killed him.

"Ready to talk Red?" Lance asked, still not getting up from wis straddle position over Keith.

"Fi-fine! Just...never do that again, ever!" he cried, tear stains across his cheeks and his entire face flushed a bright red. His hair was also sticking to his neck and head due to the light sweat that he worked up form squirming around under Lance.

"As if you didn't enjoy that in even the slightest way."

"No. No I didn't."

"Then why are you smiling like an idiot?"

"Why are you an idiot?" Keith retorted.

"Watch it mullet, I still have the upperhand here," Lance warned, lightly pressing the pads of his tan fingers into Keith's sides again. Keith scowled as a shiteating grin found a home across Lance's lips. "So, what did you say?"

"I said, um, I said...I said that you should...um..."

"We haven't got all day, I'm giving you five more seconds Keith."

"Well it was the name..."

"One..."

"I was just, saying that..."

"Two..."

"It was cute but, that's not what I said, I just..."

"Three..."

"Okay now that I'm thinking about it, it wasn't that bad but..."

"Four..."

"I mean what I'm trying to say is..."

"Five...!"

"I asked you to call me something in Spanish if you wanted to give me a pet name!" Keith cried, true fear of being tickled by Lance again shined in his eyes.

Lance froze up, the evil glimmer that swept across his face traveled to an expression of confusion, then realization, then amusement, and finally to a smug one that Keith wanted to slap off of his face. His cute little freckled face.

Or kiss it off, Keith wasn't so sure right then.

The only thing that he was focused on was the fact that he just embarrassed himself over something related to Lance for what felt like the umpteenth time in the past few days.

"Do you like it when I speak Spanish?" Lance wiggled his eyebrow, making Keith feel a fluttering sensation in the pit of his stomach.

"Well-well..."

Lance chuckled. "I don't think I've ever really spoken Spanish on this ship," he continued, leaning over again so that they were nose to nose. "Do you want to be the first?"

"I mean, you speak it more than you think ya know, subconsciously. I used to do it when I was little, a problem for bilingual people I guess," Keith breathed, trying but failing to keep his voice level.

Lance paused, "really? Huh. That is weird mi amor," he smiled.

"Are we dating now Lance?" Keith had to ask.

"Well we shouldn't start it off like that mi amor. How about like this, Keith Kogane, will you do me the honor of being my boyfriend?" Lance asked, finding Keith's hand and kissing his knuckles.

God I'm going to lose my mind.

"Y-yes. I would like that," Keith blushed, glancing back and forth between Lance's lips and eyes, almost as if asking for permission. They both leaned in, lips barely brushing up together before alarms went off.

"A planet has sent out a distress signal! Paladins, get to your lions immediately!" Allura called.

Both boys groaned, but Lance quickly got off of Keith and ran to grab his armor as Keith made his way to the door.

"Hey Keith-" Lance grabbed his arm "-can we not tell the others just yet?" Lance asked.

"Yeah, I want us to be more solid before we do," Keith whispered before slipping out of the room, down to his, changed, and ran back to his lion's hangar probably at a speed that was faster than that of a regular human being.* * *"Thank you again for responding so quickly paladins, we are truly grateful that we can safely uphold you all to the promise that you made to protect us. My people and I do sincerely apologize for the false alarm, when we saw that Galra cruiser we panicked but it utterly ignored our planet. We do make ourselves resourcefully camouflaged though, they might've thought that we were a dead planet They did when the first of the rise of the Galra Empire came here," the planet's apparent leader said to them. The planet's name was lost to Lance but all the aliens were ridiculously tall, had musty tan skin, and each with a variation of sized and shaped horns. All of them had dusty golden eyes though, with coal-black irises. Those were obviously the native people, but there were also a small mix of just random aliens as well. Lance just shrugged it off, probably people from other planets that just lived here.

"As, compensation, for all the trouble we've caused you, please, stay for the night as we hold a modern earthy themed festival for the great paladins of Voltron! We have people organizing it now, please stay, we have a lot of travelers that landed here when the Galra came into view that have taken quarters for the night, you are free to take the remaining but there are only four."

"Oh I don't think that we could impose in such a way," Shiro replied at the same time that Pidge said "thank you that would be amazing!" They both looked at each other.

"Pidge..."

"Hey, I'm not the only one who wants to get off of the ship for awhile! Besides, it's good diplomacy, meeting with other planets that are with us in the fight against Zarkon. And, they're throwing an entire festival for us Shiro, it would be a jackass move to not attend our own festival. Not to mention lame, incredibly lame," Pidge reasoned, adjusting her glasses like the smart(ass) paladin that she was.

"She's right you know Shiro. I believe Matt said something about an old rebel base that's stationed here as well. And the diplomacy thing was correct, we need to show that we can relate to others on a personal level and not just be isolated as Voltron. We need to show that we are no gods, that we are just as capable of getting hurt as the coalition but we put that aside to stand up against the Galra," Allura added in, she might be very serious about everything, but even she needed a break from the castle every now and then.

Shiro sighed, but he still smiled at his team. "Alright-" he turned his attention back to the planet's leader "-thank you for being so hospitable, I think I speak for my entire team when I say we would love to spend a night here and attend the festival you have so kindly arranged for us," he said.

"That's very well, I will have an escort take you to our guest quarters at the castle," the leader said, gesturing to one of the other natives to walk the paladins away from the Castle of Lions and towards their supposed rooms for the night.

"Here you are, I hope you enjoy your stay here paladins, I apologize that we have no other available rooms for such great-"

"Please, we are no different then any other people. Thank you for the rooms though, we will accommodate," Allura said, holding her hand up in front of her with a polite smile. The alien smiled back at her and nodded lightly before stepping away from the paladins. "They're all unlocked just so you know," the native said before disappearing behind a corner.

"Okay so...how are we going to split up the rooms?" Hunk asked.

"Right, I say that we number off the doors on paper, put them in a container, and then pick a slip to see which one of us gets which room!" Coran suggested, twiddling his mustache between his thumb and his forefinger.

"That's a great idea Coran! Paladins, help me find some things and we can get started!" Allura beamed.

A few minutes and a lot of rummaged through the rooms later, everyone met back up in the hallways with the slips and a bowl to keep them in.

"So who's going to go first?" Lance asked.

"Well I'll keep a number between one and twenty," Coran said before closing his eyes and taking a pause. "Shiro, you'll go first."

"Wait but aren't we supposed to guess the number?" Shiro asked.

"Why? I already have it in my head," Coran said, pointing to it.

"It's whatever Shiro, just go ahead," Lance sighed.

Shiro got room number two.

Lance got room number three.

Pidge got room number one.

Hunk got room number two.

Allura got room number one.

Keith got room number three.

And finally, Coran got the last room for himself. Room number four.

"Well, I suppose that settles things, come along Pidge, let's get settled in before the festival. Maybe I can dress you up!" Allura called excitedly, taking ahold of Pidge's hand and dragging her into their room before the smaller girl protest. The only thing that Pidge was able to let out was a small yelp of objection before the door to their room shut with a loud bang. Small screeches could be heard through the walls and slight commentary from Allura as well that caused the guys outside to laugh.

"Well I think that's that. I'll also go in, maybe change out of this armor then head out. Keith, Lance, don't kill each other," Shiro chuckled, walking into the room that he was to share with Hunk. Hunk just smiled at them and followed the black paladin.

"Well I'll see you boys within the varga," Coran said before turning and walking into his own room, leaving the two boys alone in the hallway. The rooms that they were given were in a private hallway, even though they said they didn't need special treatment, there were no other rooms on the level that they were on.

"So..."

"So."

"Should we go in now?"

"Yeah, that would be the proper thing to do right now."

"And wouldn't be the proper thing to do?" Lance asked kiddingly.

"Well, that would be to finish what was about to happen earlier when you asked me-" Keith lowered his voice "-to be your boyfriend."

"So, we are keeping this hush hush."

"Well you wanted to."

"Mm, we'll do what you choose this time."

"I chose to keep this to ourselves. I choose to keep you to myself," Keith answered seriously. Lance could feel his body start moving without the consent of his brain. He pushed his lips to Keith's moving back quickly to open the door to their hotel (hotel?) room and shove them both inside. Keith reached his hands around Lance in time to shut the door just before Lance pushed Keith up against the wall and pulled away just enough so that they're lips were no longer connected.

"Sorry, was that okay?" he asked. Keith nodded and snuck his hands up from Lance's back and to his neck pulling him down, craving the heat that the taller male gave to the core of his being. It made his brain short circuit and his heart pound so fast that it felt like he was running a marathon. The same musk and infatuation with the blend of tastes hit them both like a truck, neither wanting the sensation to end. Then there was a knock on the door.

"Blue and red paladins Lance and Keith, we have some traditional earth clothing that you might want to wear to the festivities," someone (most likely a native) called form the other side of their door. Both of them practically jumped away from each other. They were blushing like crazy but before it seemed like an unreasonable amount of time, Lance went to answer the door, thank the alien for the clothes, and walked back to Keith with the garments.

"I'm guessing the red one is for you," Lance handed the Korean one pile of clothing.

"Thanks."

Awkward.

Lance cleared his throat and pointed to another door in the room that he presumed to be the bathroom, "I'll go change in there, you can in here."

"Uh yeah, sure," Keith replied, not meeting Lance's eye.

As Lance walked into the bathroom he took a moment to slide down the door and groan into the outfit in his hands.

Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuwhyuuuuuugh... Lance thought in self pity. After he was done whining to himself Lance finally took a proper look at the items in that he been groaning into. They looked like some regular earth clothes to him, maybe a different style then what he would normally wear, but he could pull anything off.

Lance pulled off his paladin armor and set it neatly on the sink counter before putting on the other clothing that he was given. It consisted of regular skinny blue jeans, a turtleneck with no sleeves, a black cloth jacket, and weird gray slipper-like shoes, Lance checked himself out in the mirror, pointing finger guns at himself and winking before messing with his hair and walking out, his confidence boosted from the outfit that he had on.

"Hey Keith, look at your beautiful boyfri-" Lance trailed off when he took a look at Keith.

"What?" Keith asked with a blush. He had on a pair of tight ripped black jeans, an oversized red sweater, and the same type of shoes as him. "Does it look bad?"

"No! No, it looks...you look amazing. Damn you're a handsome man, how have I not noticed this before?" Lance gawked. "I am so lucky to call you my boyfriend." Keith blushed an insane shade of red, ducking his head and walking over to the blue paladin. Keith placed his head on Lance's chest and brought his hands up to the Cuban's face, squishing it.

"You...don't just say that! It's, embarrassing," Keith muttered.

"Why? Are you embarrassed to be my boyfriend?" Lance asked, trying not to sound hurt, but his cheeks being squished together made it hard for him to talk at all.

"Don't ever think for a second that I would be embarrassed to be called your boyfriend!" Keith looked up, still resting his sharp chin on Lance's chest. "I'm just not used to it. But I'll get used to it, I swear! And-and you're the one who looks drop dead gorgeous!" Keith called almost pleadingly, tightening his grip on Lance's face.

Lance smiled sweetly at the shorter male before closing the distance between them. This kiss was different, it more sweet than lustful. It was just them, holding each other as their bodies did the talking. Lance brought his hands up to drown them in Keith's raven hair, letting the Korean take dominance over him as they moved in perfect harmony. He didn't let his hunger take over his senses, he just let a blissful sense of pleasantness surround them. It was calming, serene. Sure there was the heat, the smell, the taste, but everything seemed to have a fresh, rosy, touch to it. Lance pulled away first this time, gazing into Keith's eyes with the most starstruck look in his own.

"That was different."

"Good different, or bad different?"

"Good different for sure. I don't think I could ever get tired of kissing you. This way or any other," Lance whispered, pressing his forehead to Keith's. They stayed like that for a moment, just the two of them smiling together, they might've 'started' dating earlier that day, but to them it felt like they had been devoted to each other for years.

"We should get going, the others are probably wondering where we are," Keith sighed, pulling away from Lance's embrace. He felt oddly cold without Lance's arms around him. Or Lance's lips on him. Keith shivered despite the fact that he was wearing a sweater, craving to reach out and hug Lance and never let him go, but he ignored the urge and pecked Lance's cheek before walking to and out the door without looking back. Keith smirked as he heard Lance let out a small groan before walking out behind him.

"Well look who finally decided to show up!" Pidge snarked, folding her arm in front of her. She had on a green crop top and low rise black ripped jeans that resembled Keith's, except hers had green leaf embroiderys on it. She was also wearing a gray sweater-jacket and it looked as if Allura had forced some golden eyeshadow onto the little gremlin as well as some shiny lip gloss. Pidge did not seem all that thrilled about it. In fact she looked half pissed.

"Aw Pidge, don't be upset! I for one think it looks fine!-" Pidge scowled darkly at him "-But then again you look fine without any of that...I'll just stop talking now." Hunk said, looking away from her 'I can kill you with this single look' gaze. Hunk himself had on blue jeans, a black shirt, and a yellow vest that was stiped with different shades of the color. He also had on his usual bandana and innocent smile which was more of a  nervous grin at the time being.

"Oh relax Pidge! You look lovely! And look, no dresses, that was the compromise! Besides, we haven't done anything fun in awhile, why not dress up, we don't know when the next time we'll ever get this opportunity will ever be!" Allura exclaimed, clinging onto Pidge's hand with an enthusiastic glimmer in her blue eyes. Pidge just sighed and bowed her head in defeat, not wanting to upset Allura when she was so happy. Nobody did, she was too scary.

Allura simply humphed in victory and let go of Pidge's arm, bouncing slightly as her beam radiated from her face. Her hair was tied up in an elaborate braid that spread out and flounced at the end. She had on a light pink dress that stopped mid-thigh and had baby blue flowers etched into it. She was also wearing a white leather crop top jacket and black leggings. Lance whistled lowly and gave her a shiteating grin that caused Keith's heart to drop a little, that was until Lance hooked their pinkies together.

"Well I guess we can take off. Coran said that we should enjoy ourselves as he doesn't feel up for partying," Shiro said. The man was wearing a tight fitted black T-shirt with a dark purple stripes on it. He was also wearing blue jeans and had no jacket on.

"I'm not stoked about the outfit, but what are we waiting for? Let's go already!" Pidge yelled, grabbing Shiro's and Allura's arms before marching off as if she were about to storm a castle.

"Uh guys, wait up!" Hunk called, jogging after them.

Lance and Keith just smiled and held hands as they walked off together, following their teammate. * * *The 'festival' was more of an outdoor nightclub. There were lights strung up along the trees in the forest where the party was that reflected the colors of the natural gems that grew in the trunks. The ground was made up of darkly colored grass and there were tables upon tables with different foods and drinks. Incoherent modern music from earth played behind the buzz of the festivities as people stalked around, either dancing, chatting, or eating.

"Alright paladins! Let's go make some acquaintances so that we don't come off as isolated, there is still some work that needs to be done! But don't forget to have fun!" Allura called over the music before waving and disappearing into the crowd.

"But I don't wanna talk to other people! They don't get me! I just wanted to lose my shit with you guys!" Pidge groaned.

"How about we split off and meet up every once in a while to check up?" Shiro suggested before walking off in one direction.

Pidge groaned again but also walked off, Hunk followed and left the blue and red paladins alone.

"I suppose we also have to go mingle?" Lance asked, letting go of Keith's hand.

"But I'm bad around others," Keith replied. "You should know that."

"Hm, I guess, then why don't you stick with me? I'm sure everyone would rather that than you picking a fight," Lance held his arm out for Keith to take. The Korean snorted but didn't say anything else.
