Toothless's POV

Rider was hurt. He hadn't moved in three days. His heart was still beating and he was still breathing, but he hadn't opened an eyelid for three days. It was horrible what those waterdragons did to him.

They didn't make peace. In fact, they made the conflict between us even worse. It wasn't their place to take him away from the island.

I promised myself that if I e er saw those two dragons again ,and they hurt Rider, I am personally going to rip their throats out.

I looked away and then, out of the corner of my eye, I saw a movement. I quickly looked and Rider was still laying. He didn't move.

just when I was about to turn away again, I heard him groan.

Rider's POV

I woke up. Everything hurt. Then I remembered what happened. It was probably the worst dragon ridin experience of my life!

"where am I?" I started to sit up, but Toothless pushed me down by jumping on me and licking me in the face.

"you know that doesn't wash out!" I laughed. it seemed like years since I have laughed and it felt good.

"Thank gods, Rider! you really had me worried there."

"where are we?"

"Somewhere the vikings won't find us and this time, we don't fly over berk. They are scary people."

"I have to go back. I have to make peace between dragons and vikings. I need to find someone and show him or her that dragons aren't what they seem. it's our only hope. And it has to be someone that will make a big impact on the people."

"No! I don't want to go anywhere near that island again!"

"Then don't. I'll find another dragon to take me there."

I walked away.

Pretty soon, Toothless was right beside me.

"I'm going to regret this, aren't I? "

"Probably. "

"Look, you can get yourself into trouble, but as your guardian and friend, you're not going anywhere without me."

"You aren't only my guardian and friend, you are my most trusted adviser and my brother."

I climbed on his back and we were off.

Astrid's POV

I was on my way to the woods. Those poor trees were going to suffer my wrath.

I couldn't believe that I was the next heir to be chief. Why couldn't they just track down Hiccup and make him chief. Oh wait, He was a crazy vigilante, taming dragons and things and he refuses to come even close to Berk unless he has to. And he even rides on the back of a night fury. A night fury!

I was snapped out of my thoughts when I heard an unmistakable night fury roar. I looked up in awe. In the distance, I saw a black shadow with another figure on it. It must be Hiccup. He has the last night fury. He was getting closer.

When he was really close, I decided to run. the dragon got his claws ready to grab and before I could scream, he picked me up and flung me over so that I landed on his saddle.

"Let me down! "

"No! Just give us a chance to say what we have to say and we'll leave you alone!"

"I don't want to listen to anything you have to say!"

"Fine, don't listen, but see what we have to show you."

I slowly opened my eyes and saw that we were right above the clouds. I reached out and touched the whispy wet clouds and for once in my life I felt free. Free from my parents, free from being the future chieftess if Hiccup didn't agree, free from everything.

"Ok. I've got to admit, this is pretty amazing. "

"This is what I have been discovering for twenty years. And what you vikings have been missing for tree hundred generations."

"Hiccup-"

"My name is Rider. Not hiccup. I am no son of Stoick the vast. I am anything but, a viking."

"Rider, you have to go back to berk. Please. We need a chief that can bring peace between dragons and vikings. Nobody but you can do it. You have to change his mind about dragons. Ans I can promise you, It won't be easy."

"Im not going back. But I do have a plan. I'm going to change the minds on berk one by one. Starting with the future chieftess. And then, the chief's wife, then the chief himself. You can't tell anyone about this. Your life on berk won't be safe if you do."

"Is that a threat?"

"No. It won't be me who will be endangering your life. "

"Who will it be?"

"There are people out there whom find information about dragons valuable. And they would do anything to get it. Believe me, I know."

For a moment his face looked whithered as he stared into a far away distance. As if he had been through much more things than what could possibly fit into twenty years. For a moment I understood what he had been through. People had tortured him and kidnapped him. Dragons fought over him and with him. He had been through wars. He was crowned as prince of the dragons. He had been through what people would consider twenty lifetimes worth of events. Good and bad.

"Thank you" I said.

"For what?"

"For showing me that there are alot more to dragons than dangerous creatures. They truly are amazing! You are the most interesting peron I have ever met. "

"Thank you too. For showing me that vikings' minds can sometimes also change. They are not as vicious and dangerous as I thought they were."he said.

We turned around and before I could say 'dragons are amazing creatures' we landed back in the woods.

"Turns out neither of us were right about each other." I said. He smiled fainly.

I smiled back. When I climbed off, I heard a twig break. The next moment, all hell broke loose. A heavy net was dropped on toothless and hiccup and vikings surrounded us.

"So, you actually decided to come back." Said a strong voice that I recocnised as Stoick.

Rider tried to struggle his way out of the net, but only tangled himself up more. Stoick pulled out his sword and walked towards Rider.

I covered my mouth in shock as Stoick pulled Rider out beneath the net with a sword to his throat.

"I never thought that my son could be as weak as to be kidnapped by dragons and be to cowardly to come back."

Rider's POV

"You are calling me a coward and a weakling? Why don't you look into the mirror, Stoick? You have been too weak and cowardly to stand up and try to make peace with dragons! And you're calling me weak and cowardly? "

"I could kill you right now, boy."

"Then do it, dad. Let's see how strong you are. Let's see if you can kill your own son! You know why I stayed away? Because I knew that nobody here was capable of change! Come on then dad! Kill me! Murder me! Your son! The prince of dragons! See if that stops the war! Do it!" I yelled at him with a tear rolling down my cheek.

"What are you trying to pull?"

"Nothing. I only came to make peace. Ask Astrid. She has seen the wonders of being a dragon. I showed her that there was more to a dragon than violence and fighting. If you don't believe me, ask her yourself. If she doesn't telk you that she has seen the other side of the picture, you can kill me."

"I will not kill you, Rider. I am not like that. But I do want you to come home."

"I'm sorry dad. I can't. I will never change, I am a dragon. But if the two of us declare peace, I will try to bring every single dragon and come live near berk. Alfa can make an island a little farther from here and I can come visit. "

"Rider, I don't want you to come visit. I want you to be the next chief of berk."

"I will think about it."

"Come Rider, we must get you ready for the ceremony. The ceremony of declaring peace between dragons and vikings. Send your dragon to go get the bewilderbeast. For tomorrow, you will become one of out allies."

I looked at toothless. I didn't know whether I should send him or not. I didn't know what these people would do to me if I did.

"Rider, what do we do? They want you to stay and for me to go. Should I call Alfa and tell him that you are making peace withthe vikings? Then he will be here by tomorrow morning. "

"Yes, go call him. But as quickly as you can. I don't know what these people will do while you're gone."

"I will go as fast as my wings can carry me."

Toothless took off and I was stuck with the vikings.

I looked at Stoick and we left. Back to the village.
