Chapter 1

"Damn, I'm going to be late for class again. " you dashed out the door of your apartment, bag in hand. This was a usual, you didn't even understand why you tried anymore. You always slept through your alarm and ended up reaching late to school.

"Ohaiyo." you smiled waving to the women as you passed by. " Ohaiyo!" you replied with a grin.

This was normal for you. Rushing to school on the brink of time. It was a wonder you ever got there at all. You giggled picking up your pace.

After just barely making it to class you sat through the first five minutes of your homeroom teacher lecturing you as about reaching on time. You weren't really listening. You just wanted the day to pass quickly.

The day droned on. It was lunch already. You stood on the roof looking out at the sky. You're eyes zeroed in when you heard the familiar cry break through the sky. You watched as a rip appeared, a masked monster forcing its way out. Your eyes moved to the left when you saw immediately after a flash of black and white cross your view. You smiled noticing the grey hair. In an instant the monster was taken down. With one slash of the man's huge sword the monster dissipated.

"At it again." you thought wistfully as the wind blew. You were just staring at the sky longingly. You were a junior now, but you remembered when Ichigo and the others had been here. Now everyone has grown up, pursuing different professions. You missed the days when they were still just teenagers, life was exciting back then. Fighting hollows, espadas, arrancars even the fullbrings. All the wars were pretty much over. It's not that you wanted another war it was just, now you felt sort of useless. You were pretty much like Orihime and Chad. A human that possessed a high level of spiritual pressure. When they were still here you would help them missions and so on, you knew of the soul reapers, visoreds, everything.

Back then you felt like you had a purpose, now you just spent your days drowning in school work and talking to ghosts. Not exactly exciting. You released one last sigh as you heard the bell ring for class.

"How fun." you grumbled sarcastically.

"Finally over!!" you cheered. You walked out the building watching as students formed their groups, talking with friends as they made their way home. Your eyes lowered a bit. If you were being honest, it wasn't the calmness you disliked it was the loneliness. When Ichigo and the others were here they were basically your only friends. Before you met them you were the freak. You could see ghost and hollows and you couldn't explain. Because of it you were always afraid to get close to anyone. You felt like you couldn't trust anyone.

But then you met Ichigo, Orihime, Chad, Uryuu even Rukia. You were so happy that there were others, you weren't alone anymore. But now they were gone. It's not like you stopped hanging out. You all still talked, but it was different.

Your hands gripped your bag as you walked through a park to get home.

"What's with the long face, did you get yelled at again. " you squealed at the voice, turning you gave the grey haired male a hard look. He just smirked. You frowned at the weird looks you got from people passing by. You grabbed the reaper's hand leading him to a secluded area.

"Damn it Kensei! Don't just appear like that! You know I'm the only one who can see you are you trying to make me look bad." He folded his arms looking down at you.

"Hmm, I took time out of my day to come visit you and this is what I get. Maybe I should just go." he turned his back and you rushed forward grabbing his hand.

"W-Wait! I'm sorry please don't go!" you winced slightly at how needy you sounded. He turned raising an eyebrow. His eyes scanned your form and you looked down with a slight blush, letting go of your hold on him.

"What's with you?" he asked. You shook your head. "It's nothing, don't worry." you said covering up with a smile.

"By the way I saw you today." you said happily. He smiled.

"I saw you too." You flushed.

" Are you alright? Why the hell do you look so bummed out." You turned your head. 

"You won't understand. You're a reaper, even when you were a visored you had a purpose. I..I don't know what I'm supposed to do. I do help with Hollows every one in a while, but this town doesn't need me too. They've got you guys." Kensei wore a confused expression. "Where did this shit come from. Have you been sniffing some crap from Urahara? " an irk mark pulsed on your head as you spun around about to punch him in the gut. He caught your hand giving you a hard stare. You froze looking up at him.

"Are you lonely?" He asked seriously. Your eyes widened. You pulled away from him. "That's ridiculous." you turned your nose. "I'm not pathetic. " you grumbled. Kensei gave you a side glance. "That's good. I won't be visiting as much." he turned and you looked up longing. "Things are still being worked out. Losing Yamamoto took a toll. As well as some of the other captains. We're still getting back in groove so I'll be busy for a while. " You bit your lip. When he was looking back your way you gave a closed eyed smile.

"That's good that things are coming back into place. I understand though. Must be kind of a nuisance for you to always visit me." you scratched your head. "Sorry about that. " you laughed. You just hope Kensei couldn't see behind your facade. "Yeah." was his only reply.
