Chapter 9

"Before you leave for the day a couple of reminders. Our call time for tomorrow is 5:30 AM. Bring your own breakfast because it's quite a long trip. Tell your parents about this training camp. Also, DON'T bring your Hero Costume."

"Wha-

"Sensei?"

"Excuse me?"

A couple of remarks and gasps had filled the air across the room from the announcement that sensei just made. We had a couple of training camps or field trips in our class and one statement remained constant, "have your costume."

Except now.

"What do you mean sensei?" Jiro-san said.

"You'll find out when we get there. Class dismissed." Aizawa sensei said frigidly.

"Well that was new." I whispered to Iida-kun.

Iida-kun immediately sprang out of his seat, "No need to doubt! Our sensei knows what he is doing!" putting his fisted right hand on his chest.

Our class got quiet for a second then everyone just went back on their business.

Patting Iida-kun in his shoulder "Yeah, yeah Iida, we got it hehehehe." Kirishima-kun said while passing through.

I stealthily looked at Bakugo-kun beside him thinking he might say something but only ended up in disappointment when he didn't even bother looking. I shifted my gaze on the side of my seat to pick up my bag and get ready to leave. I didn't even notice that I was just shuffling my things round and round wishing that he was long gone and I didn't have to catch up to him when I get on the end of the hall to the dormitory. I mean why am I even thinking about that? Catching up to him? Looking at him? Why am I thinking of the most unnecessary things when it comes to him? I can catch up to him! I mean he's my classmate and we live in one dormitory. We literally use the same steps and the same road so why am I thinking too much about this?

I let out a big sigh.

"You're crazy."

"I don't think you're crazy Uraraka-san"

"Wha-Ah Iida-kun!" I swiftly looked around the classroom and noticed that none of my classmates were present even Deku-kun.

"You okay?"

"Where is everybody?" I asked despite knowing the answer.

"Well they already went back, I think that the others are going home to inform their parents about the upcoming Training Camp while the others I'm not really sure." He said smiling. He looked like he was so ready to leave. His bag on his shoulder and standing upright as to already lead me out of class.

"Did you notice Deku-kun?"

"Well you already said goodbye to him"

"I did?! When?!" Am I talking without consciousness now?

"Earlier he came up to you and was about to tell you something, I guess, but what was immediately cut off when you suddenly slammed your fist in your table."

"I did what?!" putting both of my hands in my cheeks.

"Well he thought that maybe you were thinking about something and decided that it might be for the best to just leave you alone for the day. He just told me to take care of you."

"Omygosh!" I slump back at my seat holding my face with the palm of my hands completely embarrassed.

What in the world am I doing?

"You know" he slowly pulled back his chair and sat down, "something seems to be bothering you." He continued.

I took a peek on him not sure if I can really open things up to him. Well this is Iida-kun we are talking about. Responsible, generous, kind, charismatic. I don't think there would be any problems at all. I let out a deep sigh and combing my hair back through my fingers.

"If you want you can say it like in a metaphor form. So that I won't really get the details just the gist of it." He said calmly.

"Well... okay... so I read this is in a book, about this dog-

"A dog?"

"Yes! A dog. And this dog he... well...he wants this thing...play thing... nope... toy. Yes! Toy!"

"This dog wants a toy."

"Yep! And he wanted this toy for so long for mo- years, years. Long years and finally got the toy. I mean wohoo! For that dog ha ha ha ha ha."

Iida-kun looks at me with a poker face.

I let out a cough.

"Well this dog. Finally got what he wanted he played with it, he chewed on it? Yeah, well whatever a dog does to its toy but then on day he saw this toy while passing by on a window."

"And he wants this new toy now."

"No! He doesn't! He still wants his current toy no matter what. This toy is the best, this toy is... the toy. He just can't seem to... no! Just sometimes he thinks of the other toy. Only sometimes."

I stare at Iida-kun with strong will trying to persuade him of or maybe persuade him of whatever that was. He returned his gaze at me neither one of us breaking until I kept thinking about that dog story and it becoming more absurd every second that passes by. Realizing it, sweat started forming on my forehead and my gaze started shifting from side to side trying to avoid Iida-kun's stare.

I don't think I can take this any longer.

"ALRIGHT!" I quickly stood from my sit and went over my table.

"What happened?"

"Okay. So that wasn't even the story I read. That's just absurd hahahahaha! So the real story that I read is about this dog-

"Alright"

"Well they're all about dogs!"

"I didn't say anything!"

"Yeah, I'm sorry" I slowly cowered back to my seat with my ragged breathing.

"You have to calm down Uraraka-san, you seem to be really affected by this dog story." Slowly patting my arm.

I let out a slight giggle with his comment. I really am taking this dog story too seriously.

"Can I try that again?" trying to put a strong smile in front of him.

"Hmmmmm, NO."

"Eh?!"

He started laughing quite loudly.

"Hmmmmmpphhhh..." crossing both my arms on my chest.

"You know I really think it's time for you to rest and maybe tell me the real dog story." Patting me in my shoulder. "C'mon! Let's go home."

"Thanks Iida-kun."

"Wasn't really able to help." We both smiled at each other and head out of the classroom.

-----------------------------

Getting ready for the training camp really took my whole day. Don't really know what to expect from it, getting excited, getting nervous, it's just everything. Now that I've realized it I haven't messaged Deku-kun yet. I don't really want him to worry about anything. Well not like he has anything to worry about. I got some weird ideas from Mina-chi and Tsuyu-chan what to bring on the training camp like Bubble gum, hairspray, powder or anything at all that they or I could think of. Well it still ended in lots of laugh and good luck before we said good night to each other.

I zipped my backpack up and placed it on top of my chair. I laid down my bed and looked at the clock. It seems like it's currently 11:27 pm so I thought that maybe a bottle of milk might do me good.

I steadily made my way downstairs to the lobby and to the kitchen. Going forth I went to the refrigerator and opening it oh so slightly so that it won't blind me. I quickly scanned the compartments and finally found a bottle of milk, more like the last bottle of milk. I slowly grabbed it trying not to topple the other bottles in front of it. I swiftly opened the cap leaving a faint light from the refrigerator and gulped my milk. I was about to go back when a wind blew through the door moving the curtains slightly and leaving a mark of moonlight underneath. I slowly made my way to the windows smelling faint newly gardened grass and just a hint of cinnamon.

"Petrichor"

I didn't even notice that it rained outside after being locked inside my room just talking to some of my friends about tomorrow. I wanted to go out there. Maybe feel the breeze that it produces or the smell it creates. But then he was there outside the window.

His back relaxed, his hair tingling from the moonlight. He was standing there unguarded, ready to fall if it must, holding a bottle the same as mine. And if I was that dog, and this is what he saw on that window, I don't think I could just pass by it so easily. I would stand here thinking, longing. What would it feel like to come up to it? Would I ruin it? Would I let it in?

But I'm not that dog am I?

And you're not a toy.

You're just a statue that stood on the right spot and was chosen from the others that could have stood there instead of you.

And I don't think I would choose that.

I stepped back from the window and took a deep breath.

"Good night Bakugo-kun." And I left.
