🔥CHAPTER 3🔥

*-*Meliah's POV*-*

Study period, I found myself sitting outside, staring up at the clouds, lost in my thoughts, Steve was nice enough to invite me to study with him and Nancy, but I declined that offer as nicely as i could, steve was my best friend yes, but it doesn't mean i had to take a liking to his girlfriend, her behaviour from the begining had me angry, i was so trapped in my own thoughts, i didn't notice someone sitting down next to me.

"Hey there princess." Billy's voice pulled me back, I didn't look at him, but i did acknowledge his presence. "Why aren't you with your fan club?" Was the first thing I asked.

"That does sound like a good time, but I'd rather sit here." He says, lighting his cigarette, I look at him from the corner of my eye.

"Why tho?" I questioned him.

"That's not something you have to worry about sweetheart." He says with that stupid smirk on his face once again, shaking my head I look back up at the sky.

"Will I be seeing you at the party tonight, princess?" Billy speaks up breaking the silence once again, he really had to stop with the pet names.

"I don't know, maybe, I'm still debating." I mutter softly, which was true, one part of me was telling me i should go and enjoy myself for once, and the part in the far back of my head told me, i shouldn't waste my time.

Billy sat there with me in silence until study period was over, when the bell rang he got up, walking away without say anything, it made me wonder who he really was, what was really hiding behind that smirk, he's always wearing on his face.

The rest of the day flew by without warning, and people didn't waste time to go home immediately as soon as school ended, to get ready for Tina's bash, but i took my sweet time walking when i met up with a few familiar faces.

"Meliah!" A younger male voice calls from behind me, I quickly whip around to see Mike, Lucas and Dustin.

"Hey there boys. I love your costumes." I say, they were dressed up as the Ghostbusters, looking adorable, but their expressions went sad. "What's wrong?"

"Nobody else dressed up this year." Dustin speaks up sadly.

"I don't get it everyone dressed up last year." Mike states in frustration, they had me smiling at the small things they were worrying about.

"Look at it this way guys, you aren't like the others your unique, so you shouldn't feel bad that you were the only once dressed up, own it."  I told them, making them smile, the three offered to walk me home first, what little gentlemen they were.

*-*Billy's POV*-*

I was patiently waiting for Max to arrive, so that we could go home, seeing her skate this way, taking her sweet time, did anger me, some of us had things to do.

"You're late again." I spoke up staring ahead hoping to catch a glance of the brunette who didn't find me worthy of her attention, but she was nowhere in sight.

"Yeah, I had to get catch-up homework." Max says, just making up another excuse.

"Jesus. I don't care. You're late again, and you're skating home. Do you hear me?" I state, taking a pull from my cigarette throwing it to the ground stepping on it, and then i got in the car.

I drove fast, because it was the only moments where I felt like myself, everyone else only saw me as a jerk driving on the road, the radio playing in the background as I sped down the road sure was a bliss.

"God, this place is such a shithole." I state, and it was, I'd rather be back in California, than here, in my opinion this place had nothing to offer me.

"It's not that bad." Max says softly, her words trigger something inside of me.

"No?" I ask, rolling down the windows I inhaled the air deeply covering my nose. "Mmm! You smell that, Max? That's actually shit. Cow shit." I stated, maybe I was a jerk, but I didn't care.

"I don't see any cows." Was my step sisters only response, as she rolled the windows back up.

"Clearly, you haven't met the high-school girls." I stated, they would literally anything to throw themselves at me, except for that one brunette girl, whose name i still didn't know, and from what I've seen she didn't seem interested in any guy at school for that matter. Max's silence had me scoffing.

"So what, you like it here now?" I asked her.

"No."

"Then why are you defending it?" I questioned her again.

"I'm not." She says, looking at me.

"Sure sounds like it." I stated looking ahead of me.

"It's just we're stuck here, so... " Max speaks up, trailing off.

"Hmm. You're right. We're stuck here. And whose fault is that?" I asked, I could feel the anger building up inside of me.

"Yours." I clearly heard her mumble.

"What'd you say?" I ask her, licking my lips trying to hold it in.

"Nothing."

"Did you say it's my fault?" I questioned expecting her to give me an honest answer, but all I was a "No.", and that was the last straw.

"You know whose fault it is." I say, keeping my voice calm.

"Say it."

The more she stayed quiet, the faster I started to drive down the road.

"Max... say it."

"Say it!" I yelled, her silence angered me so much that I ended up going even faster down the road, not caring if I drive even over a little animal, slamming my steering wheel to the beat of the song playing on the radio.

"Billy, slow down." Max suddenly stated, sounding a bit panicked, just ahead of us were a bunch of kids walking with their bikes along side the road.

"Oh, these your new hick friends?" I mockingly asked her.

"No! I don't know them." Max says, but by the tone in her voice, I could tell that she did know them.

"I guess you won't care if I hit 'em, then? I get bonus points, I get 'em all in one go?" I asked her loudly, she turns her body towards me, "No, Billy, stop. It's not funny." She says, but I only gave her a deadpan look, revving my cars engine.

That's when I notice a familiar brunette also with the bunch of kids, I wanted to slow down, but I didn't.

"Billy, come on, stop it. It's not funny. Stop!" Max yelled from next to me, but her yells where deaf to my ears.

"Billy, stop it!" Max yells once more, grabbing my steering wheel, turning it to the left, the car's tires could be heard screeching against the road as we miss them, by a few feet.

"Yeah! That was a close one, huh?" I yelled, adrenaline running through my body, I could only laugh in amusement, knowing full well if that brunette sets her eyes on me, she might just want to kill me, meaning she had a reason to show up at that party.
