33-Final Battle

22:21, 7 October 2018

There was a cut on my face still. Matt had stitched it up but it still was it was still on my face. Bruce was looking at it now, his thumb carefully running over it. He and Fury has just showed up. Greeting had already been made, hugs and all.

"You're saying Matt did this?" Bruce asks, a little amazing. I nodded, smiling as I look up at the doctor.

"He's blind, not incapable, Bruce." I say with a chuckle. Bruce nods and pulls his hands away before pulling me in for another hug. The scientist was very...emotional at the moment. I pulled away and let my hair back down, covering the stitched up wound.

"Enough of that. Tell me what's going on." I say, leaning against the counter of the bar. Fury and Hill had already gone off together, to do what? Who knows. Bruce sighed before telling me everything.

-

Bruce and I both stood as Tony and Clint landed. I walked past Clint, helping my brother secure the cradle into the lab. I once again ignored Clint, whose mouth was opening to talk to me, and walked with my brother to his bedroom. As soon as the door shut, he wrapped his arms around me.

"How are you? Are you okay?" He asks, rubbing my back.

"I'm okay. Well I'm not but I'm fine at the moment." I told him, pulling away and sitting on his bed. He sighed and nodded, grabbing some clothes and changing in the bathroom.

"You can totally stay here or go back to the mansion if you need more time." Tony says from the bathroom before walking out. I shake my head, wrapping my arms around myself.

"I'm not weak, Tony. If I run away again then I am weak. And I hate being weak." I tell him and he sighs again. Tony and I walk back to the lab and I try to ignore Clint, who is sitting on the cradle.

"Anything on Nat?" Bruce asks, looking obviously worried.

"I haven't heard, but she's alive or else Ultron would be rubbing in our faces." Tony says as I follow him, my bare feet hardly making any noise. I can feel Clint's eyes on me as he hops off the cradle.

"It's sealed tight." He says, wanting to say something because we can all see that it's sealed tight. I walk to the cradle, resting my hands on it.

"We gonna have to break it down from within." I tell them, trying to look at what's inside. Tony turns to look at Clint.

"Any chance Natasha might leave you a message outside the internet? Y'know old school spy spy stuff?" Tony asks and I walk over to Bruce, who is looking at a screen.

"There's some nets I can cast....Yeah I'll find her." Clint says before walking down the stairs. Tony looks at me and I mouth thank you.

"I can work on tissue regeneration while you fry whatever operational system Cho implanted." Bruce says to Tony as he hits a few buttons. Tony rubs the back of his head and my eyes are already widening.

"Yeah about that.." Tony says and Bruce and I both glare at my brother.

"You never learn, do you?" I ask, covering my face with my hands.

"No." Bruce says, walking backward as Tony walks forward. I sit down on a lab stool.

"You have to trust me, guys." Tony responds.

"We kinda don't." I retort, pinching the bridge of my nose.

"Our ally? The guy protecting the military's nuclear codes? I found him." Tony says before hitting a button on a remote. JARVIS appears and my eyes widen.

"Hello Dr. Banner and Miss Stark." The AI says, making me smile.

"Ultron didn't go after JARVIS because he was angry. He attacked him because he was scared of what he could do." Tony explains as I walk over to JARVIS, "So JARVIS went underground. Scattered, dumped his memory, but not his protocols. He didn't even know he was in there until I pieced him together."

"So you want us, to help you, put JARVIS into this thing?" Bruce asks, motioning to the cradle. I look at the two men, a headache already forming.

"Noooooo! Of course not! I want to help you two put JARVIS into this thing." Tony says with a smile, looking at both of us. I groan.

"We're our of my field dude. You know bioorganics better than anyone." Tony compliments and I shut my eyes.

"You are assuming that JARVIS's operational matrix can beat Ultron's?" I ask, looking at Dr Frankenstein in front of me. Bruce and I already know that we are going to do whatever Tony says. So after arguing a bit more, we give in and become the mad scientists we are.

-

"This framework is not compatible." Tony says as he types away. I lay on the floor, fiddling with wires.

"Genetic coding is at 97%. You have got to upload that schematic in the next few minutes." Bruce says just as I get up from the floor. I hear the sound of heavy boots just as I turn around to see Cap and the Maximoff twins. A chill runs up my spine and I step backwards, away from Wanda. My baby.

"I'm gonna say this once." Steve says, his eyes on Tony. One of my hands lights on fire as Wanda looks at me. Her eyes widen when she sees the fire.

"How about nunce?" Tony asks, obviously pissed. I'm pissed. Steve knows better than to bring the twins here.

"Shut it down!" Steve commands and roll my eyes, my blood boiling.

"Nope! Not going to happen, Rogers." I snap, glaring at Steve when he looks at me. His eyes soften slightly before hardening again.

"You don't know what will happen." Steve says and Bruce finally speaks up. I'm not the only angry person here.

"And you do? She's not in your head?" Bruce asks, pointing to Wanda. The small woman comes out from behind her brother.

"I know you're angry." Wanda says, looking at Bruce and then me, "And you have every reason to be mad at me."

"Oh we are way past angry. I could choke the life out of you without even turning a shade." Bruce practically growls and I stalk forward. I know my eyes are glowing red by the fear in hers.

"Damn straight I have a reason to be mad at you. You showed me my dead baby. I want to burn you alive right now. Give your brother a reason to call me a monster." I growl, both my hands covering in white flame. Pietro stands in front of his sister and I raise my eyebrow, "What, cat got your tongue now?"

"Banner, Peyton." Steve says, trying to reprimand us. I glare once more at Steve.

"Oh am I not allowed to be angry, Steve? Not a damn bit?" I snap and he winces. We all continue to argue until a blue blur runs around the room and unplugs everything. My eyes widen and I grow even angrier.

"No no go on. You were saying." Pietro comments and before I can tell him anything, a shot goes off and the boy falls through the floor.

"Pietro!" Wanda shouts and stick my foot out, tripping her. Clint murmurs something and I walk away from Wanda.

"I rerouting the upload." Tony says, moving towards a screen. Steve throws his shield and it almost hits Tony, but he deflects it with a gauntlet before blasting Steve, sending him flying. Wanda is going to do something, but I grab her before Bruce can. I wrap my hand around her small neck. I know Bruce is standing behind me.

"Piss her off and she'll burn right through your neck." Bruce growls and tighten my hold, eyes glowing red. Tony and Steve are fighting, I know that, but I'm focused on Wanda Maximoff. Her eyes are wide as she struggles, her hands scratching at mine.

"Hands at your sides." I say in a sing song voice. She does what I say, her eyes widening even more. Suddenly, Thor appears and I'm distracted. She sends me flying back but I quickly catch myself. Thor jumps on the cradle and lifts up his hammer, lightning sparking.

"Wait!" Bruce yells, but Thor does not listen. He sends the lightning straight into the cradle. Everything is calm for a moment, until the cradle bursts open and Thor is sent flying backwards. I drop to cover just a humanoid figure jumps out of the cradle. He looks at us, a little worried. Suddenly, he flies to Thor and Thor throws him out of the glass wall of the lab. Steve and I jump out of the lab, but Thor signals us to stop. Everyone else makes their way towards us as the thing lands in front of Thor. Flames disappear from my hands and I just watch, curious.

"I'm sorry. That was...odd. Thank you." It says to Thor, making a cape for itself.

"Thor, you helped create this?" Steve asks, a little grumpy. I walk towards the creature.

"I had a vision. The whirlpool that sucks in all creation and life and at the center, that." Thor says, pointing to the stone in the center of the creature's forehead.

"What? The gem?" Bruce asks. Thor turns to us a bit more.

"It's the mind stone, one of the six infinity stones. The greatest power of the universe, unparalleled in its destructive capability." Thor tells us and I nod. All of us are very confused.

"Then why would you-" Steve is cut off by Thor, who is obviously talking to us like we are children.

"Stark is right." Thor interrupts. My eyes widen and I look at my brother, who mouths I told you so.

"Oh it's definitely the end times." Bruce murmurs and I try not snort.

"The Avengers cannot defeat Ultron." Thor says before getting interrupted by the thing.

"Not alone." The "Vision" tells us.

"Why does your vision sound like JARVIS?" Steve asks and I roll my eyes.

"We configured him with JARVIS's matrix. To create something new." Tony says, moving to stand next to me as Vision looks at us.

"You think I'm a child of Ultron." He speaks, looking at Steve now.

"You're not?" The star spangled man asks and Vision shakes his head.

"I'm not Ultron, I'm not JARVIS, I-I am." It tells us and Wanda steps forward.

"I looked in your head and saw annihilation." She says and the Vision smiles at her.

"Look again." It tells her and Clint laughs. I glare at the archer.

"Their powers, the horrors in our heads, Ultron, they all came from the mind stone. It's nothing compared to what it can unleash. We need him on our side." Thor comments and Steve looks at the Vision, we all do.

"Are you? On our side?" He asks.

"I don't think it's that simple."

"Well it better get real simple, real soon." Clint tells Vision, which earns him another glare from me.

"I am on the side of life, Ultron isn't. He will end it all." Vision says and I lean against my brother. I think of Matt as his smell from the sweater I'm wearing fills my noise. If we die defending Earth, Daredevil knows how I feel.

"What is he waiting for?" I ask, my voice soft.

"You." Vision responds.

"Where?" Bruce asks.

"Sokovia. He has Nat there too." Clint tells us and I know Bruce is mad because Clint kept it to himself the whole time.

"If we are wrong about you, if you're the monster Ultron made you to be..." Bruce trails off. Then Vision starts to monologue and I don't really pay attention until he hands Thor is hammer.

"We need to go." Vision says and everyone, including myself, is shocked. Thor's eyes are wide as he takes his hammer from Vision. Vision walks I away and Steve clears his throat.

"Three minutes. Get what you need." Steve says and I move past everyone, heading to my room. I make my way into my closet and into the secret lab. I quickly pull the new and finished suit on. I leave Matt's clothes folded up on one of the tables as I pull my hair up and away from my face. Knives are shoved into secret sheaths, my boots are strapped onto my feet. I swipe on some mascara and dark red lipstick for the hell of it before walking about of my rooms, locking everything up. I walk towards Steve, Bruce and Tony. My heeled boots alert my presence, making the boys look at me.

"Are you girls ready yet?" I ask, raising an eye brow. Steve chokes on the water he was drinking as I make my way to jet.

-

Wanda and I have the same job when we land in Sokovia: get everyone to evacuate. Everyone knows by know of my powers of influence, and if they didn't, they know now. Hundreds of people listen to my singsong voice as they leave their homes. They move past me peacefully, all of them in a trance. The people of Sokovia do not put up a fight, they just leave. This isn't their war, it's ours. We get there in the early morning and everything is fine, until Ultron bots start to climb out of the ground. People start to run and scream, especially as the robots start to fire at me. I shout and use my much stronger powers to melt them into puddles of metal. Suddenly the ground shakes and we rise. I ignore Ultron as he speaks, melting more and more robots. A blur blue runs past me.

"Cap, you got incoming." Tony speaks over to comms as I continue to usher people out whilst fighting.

"Incoming already came in. Stark, you worry about being the city back down safely. The rest of us have one job: Tear these things apart. You get hurt, hurt them back. You get killed...walk it off." Steve says to all of us as I lean against the wall to catch my breathe.

"Aye aye, Cap." I respond before flying upwards to take down another bot, wrapping myself around it's body and melting it. Two more robots grab me and throw me against the roof of a building. I groan, looking up at the sky. Pietro grabs me suddenly and runs me back to the ground.

"There. After this, we get drinks?" He asks with a smirk. I give him a look and he wiggles his eyebrows.

"I have a boyfriend." I respond, taking down a few robots, melting them. He sighs and helps me.

"I guess no drinks." He chuckles and runs off. I roll my eyes and fly away, looking for someone to help. I land beside Steve, helping him take down a lot of bots.

"Alright we are all clear here." Clint says and Steve and I beat the shit out of the robots.

"We are not clear! We are very not clear!" Steve responds, making me laugh as he kicks his shield into one of the robots. I grab two heads and melt them before helping Steve up.

"I made you a helmet for a reason, Rogers." I grumble at him and he smiles at me.

"How else are you going to see my pretty face then, Stark?" He asks and I shake my head.

"You're a dork." I respond and he yanks his shield out of the robot. Steve runs away and fly off the take down another load of robots.

"The next wave is going to hit any minute. What do you got Stark?" Steve asks and I try to listen as I take cover for a moment.

"Well nothing great. Maybe a way to blow up the city. That'll keep it from impacting the surface as long as you guys can get clear." His voice sounds very grave. I swallow hard.

"I asked for a solution, not an escape plan." Steve responds. I pull my hair back a bit tighter.

"The impact radius is getting bigger every second. We have to make a choice." Tony tells Steve and I realize fully what he is saying. I close my eyes for a moment, forcing myself to come to terms with the situation. I fly up and suddenly, I see a helicarrier.

"Holy shit!" I cry out, smiling.

"Fury, you son of a bitch." Steve says, happily.

"Ooo you kiss your mother with that mouth?" Fury responds and I start commanding people to climb onto the transports. I get lost in it once more until Tony's voice fills the comms.

"Avengers, time to work for a living." Tony says as he flies past me. I sigh and fly up, following him and the rest of the Avengers to were the core is. We land and immediately start fighting, all of us feeding off one another.

"If Ultron gets a hand on the core, we lose." Tony says, pointing to vibranium hunk of machinery. Ultron flies in front of us.

"Is that the best you can do?" Thor yells and I sigh. Ultron beckons thousands a robots to follow him.

"You had to ask." Steve mutters to Thor, making me smile slightly.

"This is the best I can do. This is exactly what I wanted. All of you against all of me. How can you possibly hope to stop me?"  Ultron asks. I look at my teammates.

Like the old man said. Together." Tony says just as thousands of robots move towards us. And we do what we always do. We fight, out backs to the core. We do what we can, but we make shit happen. Some of robots attempt to leave after the Hulk send Ultron flying. I vaguely hear what's happened before I fly after Ultron.

I know it's dumb and I regret it when I land in front of Ultron.

"I'm glad you followed me, Peyton." Ultron says as he lands, skidding to a stop. I swallow hard and I can vaguely hear Tony calling my name.

"You aren't going anywhere, Ultron." I yell at him. The robot laughs and turns to me.

How was I supposed to see the metal rod in his hand?

"You're the true monster here, aren't you? How many people have you killed with that power of yours? Making shoot themselves? Stab themselves? Wanda told me what your greatest fear was, your baby dying. Monsters like you shouldn't be able to have children." He practically growls at me. I notice the rod too late. He throws it at me and it lands in my lower abdomen.

I'm in so much shock that I don't scream. The blood spreads from the wound and my hearing makes me feel like I'm under water. I think I see Tony blast Ultron away as I fall to my knees. I think he cuts down the metal rod before he lifts me up. I don't know because I can't tell. Black spots cover my vision and my cheeks are covered in tears. Tony is calling my name, but its muffled again. His faceplate sliding up to reveal his scared face is the last thing I see.
