"y/n, what are you still doing here?"

you raised your head, meeting satoru's figure by the door.

"i have to send an email, and my mind literally doesn't work anymore" you sighed.

"just let it go. you can do it tomorrow" satoru laughed.

"you're right"

"of course i am"

you sent him a look, making him send a smile your way. you rolled your eyes, before you started turning off the devices around you.

satoru was watching you with a smile on his face, as he stood by the door. he was falling faster everyday, and it was getting harder to hide it. he wanted to take you to his house, but he was afraid of the outcome.

you, on the other hand, didn't know what you were feeling. you ignored and avoided every emotion, pretending that it was never there in the first place. but, you couldn't ignore nor avoid the way your heart jumped when his eyes met yours.

no matter what, you stuck to your rule. you didn't want to let go and do something that would lead to destruction, since you didn't even acknowledge your feelings.

the two of you stuck to your rules, but you wanted to go against each other's. satoru wanted to kiss you, and you wanted to go to his house. and that would be the start of destruction.

he took you back to your house, and as if it was a ritual, he closed the door behind him. after months of it, it had become something he was doing instinctually.

instinctual was the way he followed you to your bedroom.

instinctual was the way he had your back against the wall.

instinctual was the way he removed your jacket, while kissing your neck.

instinctual was the way you held on his shoulders.

instinctual was the way he leaned closer, despite your voice trying to stop him.

and instinctual was the way you pushed him away and slapped him.

satoru was falling

falling

falling

until he met the ground with such force it broke everything in him. it broke him.

he touched his red cheek, eyes meeting your tear-filled ones.

"y/n, i- i'm so sorry!"

you held the hand that slapped him closer to your chest, as you stared at him.

"get out of my house"

"i'm so-"

"that agreement of ours is over" you interrupted him.

"y/n, please listen to me"

"get out of my house, now!" you said, voice shaky and full of anger.

he lowered his head, another apology slipping past his lips, before he walked out of your room and soon after out of your house.

you could feel and hear your heart break in million tiny pieces, as you slid down the wall. more tears left your eyes, while you cried- every single part of your body aching along with your heart.

every emotion you once felt towards satoru disappeared in an instant, leaving you empty once again. you felt stupid to think that he was different than the others. stupid to trust him. stupid to even cry about it.

you got up and grabbed your phone -tears still in your eyes- as you texted maki;

not even a minute later your phone chimed, and you turned it on;

you didn't know if nobara knew anything. you didn't know if maki ever told her your situation with satoru. either way, you'd have to explain the new situation.

you didn't have to wait long, since you heard the front door unlock. footsteps were coming towards your bedroom, yet you didn't have the strength to get up from the floor.

maki and nobara walked in, their eyes falling on your form; you were hugging your knees close to your chest, your head resting on them while you cried.

"hey, what's wrong?"

"i shouldn't have trusted him, maki!"

"what did he do?" she asked, kneeling in front of you.

"he tried to kiss me"

"oh, what an asshole" nobara said, kneeling next to you to hug you.

they helped you up and you explained to them whatever happened.

"okay, the question is; do you like him?" nobara asked.

"no. i feel stupid i even allowed myself to feel something, in the first place" you replied, wiping the tears off your face.

"we've said that millions of times; it's not stupid to feel. you're a human. you have emotions" maki said.

"and because of them everything is ruined"

nobara and maki looked at each other, sadness in their eyes for you. you held nobara's hand, your eyes locked on the engagement ring.

"nice ring"

"you've told me that ten times already in the past three weeks, but thank you" she laughed.

"please, never allow me to cry over a man again" you said, looking at them.

maki laughed and nobara snorted, making a smile make its way to your face. they hugged you, maki's smile fading once you couldn't see her.

she thought that satoru could be your second chance in love. but, once she walked in your room and saw you crying, she knew you froze your heart as fast as you did at first.

she was left with no choice but to talk to him. find out why that destruction happened, when things were just perfect. so, once she walked in the company, she knocked on his office door.

she pushed the door open, before quickly closing it behind her. satoru raised his head to look at her, a pair of black round sunglasses covering his eyes.

"didn't know you had a sun in here"

"haha really funny" he faked laughed.

"what do you want?"

there it was; the old satoru gojo that hired her. the satoru gojo before the agreement with you.

"why did you do that yesterday?"

"this doesn't concern you"

"it does, because y/n is my friend. and now she's hurt, because she trusted you"

when satoru heard the past tense in the word trust, he felt a dagger stabbing him in the heart. but, nonetheless, he didn't say anything. maki sighed, before she walked closer to his desk.

"you like her, don't you?"

he tensed up for a second, before he relaxed. he ran a hand through his hair, before he removed the sunglasses.

"is it bad that i do?"

"what's bad is the dark circles under your eyes"

"yeah, no shit. i spent the whole night in here, working"

"that's... not okay" she said, as she sat on the chair in front of his desk.

"what i tried to do was not okay, either" he answered, shrugging his shoulders.

"why did you even try it, then?"

"i was acting without thinking. i wanted to kiss her way before i realized i was falling for her. once i realized, i knew that sooner or later this would be the thing to ruin everything"

maki stayed silent, before she massaged her temples.

"even if i understand why, i can't help but say you fucked up"

"i know" he laughed.

"the right thing to do is talk to her"

"she won't even let me"

"that's true. but if you give her some time, maybe she will" she said, getting up.

"how much time?"

"are you willing to wait for her?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.

"yes"

"then give her as much time as you think she wants"

she watched as his eyes widened for a second, before he slowly nodded his head. he put his sunglasses on again and gave her some documents.

"please give those to her. at least, she will think that you came in here because i called you"

she took them from him, before making her way to the door.

"i hope you can fix this" she softly said.

she didn't only want him to fix the situation, but she wanted him to fix you. he was slowly doing it, before he messed it up.

maki wanted nothing more than your happiness. she was disappointed because the people you associated yourself with only brought you down.

but it wasn't the same with satoru. no matter the things that happened, you were more lively than ever. the last time maki saw you like this was when the two of you were in high-school.

"i brought you some documents. i suppose you have to sign them" she said, once she entered your office.

"thank you"

maki couldn't see the pain that existed in your eyes and your smile some hours ago. once she left, though, that was when you let the mask fall. you looked through the documents and signed them, before leaving them to the side.

you didn't want to take them to satoru's office, because you simply didn't want to see him. you thought of calling maki to do that for you, but that would be childish. you sighed and got up, before you exited your office.

you walked towards his office and you were about to knock, when his door opened. you stood in front of him, your lips slightly parting, before they went back to your neutral expression.

he stared at you through the black lenses of his glasses, and even then you were beautiful. you were looking up at him with red tinted eyes, making him hate himself for being the one who caused them.

"i just signed them"

four words. to everyone else, they would just be minor. but to satoru, they were important. because you talked to him.

he took them from you, his fingers touching yours for a second. he was surprised that you didn't pull away, but he didn't know that you were burning up.

you tried to keep the burning from going to your face. you hated it. you hated how a millisecond of his skin coming in contact with yours pulled that reaction out of you.

your fingers were burning. the places on your neck he kissed just the night before were burning. you felt like your whole body was on fire. everything but your face.

it was stupid. you felt like a high-schooler that made eye-contact with her crush. but you weren't a high-schooler. and you didn't have a crush.

"thank you"

the softness in his voice would have your eyes softening, but not anymore. the only thing it did was to stab you right in the heart. without saying another word, you turned around and returned to your office.

you rested your back against your door, looking at the skyscrapers out of the window wall. you took a deep breath, holding it for some seconds, before you exhaled.

"who the fuck wears sunglasses inside a building, anyways?"

"y/n, do you want to go for a walk?"

"the reason behind it?" you asked, raising an eyebrow.

"jeez, i can't even go out with my best friend, now?" maki said, rolling her eyes.

"i know it's something else, maki. you said it in that way"

"fine" she laughed, shaking her head.

"yuta came back and he wants to meet"

"it's been a month since you proposed?!"

"it's gonna be. tomorrow"

"wow... time flies" you said, in which she agreed.

"so, what do you say?"

"sure! let me just turn that stuff off"

she helped you by putting some documents in their folders, while you took your things.

you walked out of your office with her, noticing satoru who just left his office. you ignored him, as you turned your head to the side. he was glad he was wearing his sunglasses, or else you'd be able to see his bloodshot eyes.

satoru hardly cried. but for you, he did. cried because he hurt you. something he promised himself he'd never do. he shallowed the lump in his throat, before he walked to the bathrooms.

he removed his glasses, meeting his tired eyes. he splashed some water on his face, slightly rubbing his eyes. they were aching, but he told himself that he deserved all the pain.

he didn't know where you went, but even if he did, he couldn't do anything. maki was right; he had to give you time. he didn't know how much time to give you, because he was impatient and he wanted to talk to you.

while satoru was thinking hundred different things, you were talking with yuta. you didn't know he had changed that much; his hair was in a middle part, his face was sharper, he was way taller and his body was more built.

you and yuta used to be really close friends. but because of his studies, he moved away for several years and pursued a career in his major. the last time you saw him, was five years ago, at his fiancée's funeral.

you were thankful that, back then, you had a break from university. you had spent it with him, trying to make sure that he wouldn't do anything stupid. you were scared that if you left him alone, he would take his own life.

you knew that it was totally hard for him, but you couldn't fully understand. he knew her ever since he was five, and both of them had fallen in love with each other. two little kids who fell in love at a park and promised to marry one another once they got older.

they grew old together, and once they reached the twentieth year of their life, they decided to get married. they didn't care that they were still young, because a love like theirs could only get stronger with that bond.

not even two months before their big day, a car accident happened. a car accident that killed rika orimoto. the day she died, the biggest part of yuta died, too.

the yuta you had in front of you, at that moment, wasn't lifeless. his eyes shined and he was alive. you were proud of him, because he was able to move on from something so traumatic. maybe not completely, but mostly he did.

"you've... changed. so much" he said, looking at you.

"it's only normal, yuta. you've changed, too"

"i remember seeing you on tv some time ago, i couldn't believe that it was you"

"actually, i couldn't even believe what i was watching and listening to"

"fun times, huh?" you laughed.

"oh definitely" maki said, sarcastically.

"those are in the past now, though" yuta said, gaining your attention.

"the good thing is that it's over and you're free"

you softly smiled, as you nodded your head. maki excused herself, to answer her phone, leaving you alone with him.

"you're with anyone, right now?"

"no?" you answered, but it came off more like a question.

"why? are you interested?" you added, raising an eyebrow.

he leaned his elbows on the table, his eyes meeting yours. you grew nervous, quickly looking away from him. you didn't want to show him that he made you nervous, but you couldn't put a leash on your emotions· they were acting however they liked.

your eyes looked back at yuta, looking at his features more carefully. he winked at you in a way that had your cheeks burning up, much to your dismay.

"we could totally hit it off! if you know what i mean"
