Attack on Titan: Escape from Certain Death/ Kiyomi and Nanaba/ Part 2

23:09, 19 August 2018

Kiyomi has met Nanaba before. But all their meeting’s were quite brief. Usually it was when the opposite squads would meet up with each other. Or right before a mission outside the walls would break out.

The two never really got the chance to introduce themselves as of yet. They barely knew anything about each other.

All Kiyomi knew about Nanaba was that she was one of the higher up, experienced soldiers along with Mike and Levi.

All Nanaba really knew about Kiyomi was that she was an inexperienced soldier who hadn’t been on as many expeditions outside the walls.

Eventually Nanaba wanted to break the silence. The silence would just keep everyone feeling uneasy. At least, Nanaba felt that she would feel uneasy without any conversations. After all, she knew there was a possibility that Titans could be lurking inside this castle. But the idea didn't come across Kiyomi’s mind yet.

“My names Nanaba. What’s yours?”

“Kiyomi.” she introduced herself.

“Kiyomi, huh? Its a pleasure to finally know your name. Do you remember me? We haven’t really been in any of the same squads before, but we have bumped into each other.”

“Yeah. I remember you.”

Eventually silence overcame again.

Things felt a bit awkward….

Kiyomi wanted to be able to talk to Nanaba, but she really didn’t know what to say or ask. But then, Nanaba had to say the wrong thing…..

“So...you are aware of the fact you should draw your swords in case something happens.”

“In case….something….happens?” Kiyomi moved her head to the side in confusion.

“Please don’t tell me….your unaware of the fact that Titans can very well be trapped in here with us?”

“WHAAAT!?!!?!!” Kiyomi screamed, her voice echoing throughout the entire castel.

Immediately Nanaba slapped her hand against Kiyomii’s mouth to try and shut her trap.

“Sssh--!! Quiet! You’ll catch their attention wherever they are.” Warns Nanaba.

But suddenly...the two heard a cry that sounded a lot like a Titans from another room.

Loud footsteps could be heard coming closer and closer….

Nanaba immediately grabbed Kiyomi into the wall behind another, trying to get the two hidden from sight.

“U-Um..!” Kiyomi felt a bit awkward in this situation.

“Shh! Try to stay quiet. Let’s hope they won’t find us.”

….

The Titan came and sniffed and looked around. Luckily it’s senses weren't very strong at all, and it wandered away.

Nanaba sighed in relief.

“Thank goodness….it got away. Hurry, let’s go!” Nanaba took Kiyomi’s hand and the two started heading out really quickly.

The sunset started lighting the halls as they ran through.

“By now the scouts would be leaving inside the walls….” Kiyomi mentions, worriedly.

“Don’t worry. It hasn’t been too long. Just not so long ago, we were just outside with the others. I'm positive they are still there.”

The two eventually found a big room filled with tables that had documents and other important-like papers scattered on them, and there were also book shelves stacked with books.

There were also windows.

The two went in and Nanaba said to Kiyomi…

“Make sure to close the door behind us so no Titan’s surprise us and walks on in.”

“Ok.” Kiyomi obeys and closes it.

Nanaba presses her hands at the window and peeks through.

Her eyes widens in disbelief.

The scouts….they were gone. Not a single soldier left. And there were so many other Titans still out there….

Nanaba was left in utter silence. What were the two to do now?

“Um….Nanaba? Are you ok? Hey…” approached Kiyomi.

“The others….they’re gone. Not a trace of them left. Only Titans….”

Cold silence lifted in the air between the two.

….

....

“W-What’ll we do?” Kiyomi’s voice began shaking.

Nanaba could tell from her voice and expression that the thought of being left behind, trapped inside a castle and being out in titan territory while the others fled back into the walls, terrified her.

Nanaba placed a gentle hand on the other girl’s shoulder, trying to calm her.

“It’s going to be ok. Im going to find us a way to get out of here. Don’t worry. We’ll make it out and survive, I promise.”

Nanaba’s words helped reassure Kiyomi that all would be ok and that they would get out of this in once piece.

But if only Nanaba could believe her own words she just spoke out…

“Let’s go.” she says.

“Ok.”

The two got out of the room and started exploring the castle, trying hard for a way to escape.

Nanaba then spots something over by the right.

“Hey. look at that. It’s…..an underground room?”
