More Than Enough
11:13, 21 August 2021Ginny was deadly nervous, Florence could tell. But through those nerves, determination, courage, fire and bravery shone through. A true Gryffindor. Florence fixed a strand of Ginny's hair before tracing her jawline.
"I love you, okay?" Florence whispered. "It's going to be okay. You'll still have me and I'll try to be enough-"
"You're more than enough," Ginny said quickly, giving her waist a squeeze. "I love you, Flo." Florence smiled and pressed a kiss on Ginny's cheek. After Ginny had come over yesterday and after they had made up for some lost touching, the two women had talked for hours and hours.
They went to sleep at four in the morning and when they woke up around eleven - Florence called in sick to work - they continued talking. They talked about the things that were said that had hurt them, they talked about Ginny accepting herself, they talked about Florence's job, about how they had spent their days while they were broken up and just about anything that had come into their minds.
It was great to have Ginny back. Florence finally felt peaceful again, whole. Ginny made her feel whole. She was sure that this time it was going to be different, this time it was going to be open. No more secrets, no more hiding.
This time it was going to be as serious as they had always wanted it to be.
This time it was going to be forever.
"Thanks for coming with me," Ginny said, turning around to the mirror once more. She was wearing her favourite jeans with a long-sleeved jumper that had a small rainbow heart on the left side of her chest. It had been Florence's but three months into their relationship Ginny had claimed it and Florence let her. She loved it on Ginny more than on herself.
"Is the jumper too much?" Ginny asked, biting on her bottom lip. Florence stepped up beside her, looking at Ginny via the mirror. She rested her hand on the small of her back and shook her head.
"I love it on you. If you don't feel comfortable in it, wear something else. But it looks great. You look great. Gorgeous like always," Florence said, pressing a soft kiss on the back of Ginny's neck. "They won't be bothered with this tiny rainbow heart, baby."
"I know," Ginny sighed and fumbled with her sleeves. "Sorry, I'm just... just so nervous." Florence nodded and hugged Ginny tightly.
"I know. But you can do this. I'm right there with you. So is Ange, right? She loves you still. She'll stand up for you too in case something does go badly," Florence reminded her. She wanted to say it was going to be okay because she was sure it was, but Ginny had asked her not to say that because she was uncertain about that promise.
"Yeah," Ginny nodded, hugging her back tightly. "We should go though." Florence kissed her softly and pressed one more kiss on her forehead before letting go of her.
"Let's go, love," she said, holding out her hand. Ginny took it, smiling softly before they apparated to the Burrow together. Ginny let go of Florence's hand immediately again, but Florence didn't mind.
"Sorry... after I will take it again if you don't mind?" Ginny apologized softly. Florence smiled at her. She wanted to hug her again but knew that wasn't the best option now.
"I know, Gin. It's okay. All good, I promise. Let's go in, okay?" Ginny nodded, sighing in relief before walking towards the door. The Burrow looked exactly like how Ginny had described it. The tall, wobbly building was surrounded by nature and there were chickens and pigs wandering around.
Ginny stepped inside and Florence followed closely. The feeling of home immediately greeted them both and Florence felt all warm inside. It was crazy that something that is merely a house had this effect on her. This only meant that the people inside were indeed as loving as Ginny had always described them to be.
"Ginny!" Mrs Weasley exclaimed, hurrying over to her daughter and giving her a hug. Ginny got greeted by her entire family, who were scattered around the kitchen and living room. Florence too got greeted openheartedly, especially by little Victoire, who came waddling her way at a fast pace, screaming happily.
"FLO!!!" Florence chuckled, lifting the small child up. Victoire started to fumble with her braids immediately and Florence glanced over at Ginny, who shot her a loving smile.
They all sat down at the kitchen table, which had been enlarged. Florence had handed Victoire back to a very pregnant Fleur. It was a little cramped but it felt cosy and Florence did not feel out of place at all. "So, Florence! What makes you join us? Not that we mind, of course!!" Mr Weasley asked her.
"Oh, erm, Ginny asked me to join!" she said. It wasn't a lie, Ginny had asked her to join, but the reason why wasn't hers to tell. Arthur gave her a short nod, granting her a kind smile.
"Why have you gathered us all together, Gin?" Fred asked before filling his plate with food. Florence knew Mrs Weasley was an amazing cook and she was excited to start eating too. Ginny looked down at her empty plate, a few strands of her red hair falling in front of her face.
"Gin?" George asked her, a worried tone in his voice. He was sitting next to her and reached over for her hand. Florence knew Ginny was closest to George. He was the only one allowed to call her Ginevra and also the only one she had almost come out to earlier.
"I just..." she started, choking on her words. Florence reached under the table, placing her hand on Ginny's knee unseen. Ginny moved her hand towards Florence's and grabbed it tightly. "I need to tell you something."
"Ginny cry!!" two-year-old Victoire blurted out. Everyone laughed softly, even Ginny did. Victoire crawled over several laps until she reached Ginny's, placing her small hands on Ginny's cheeks. "Gin cry."
"No, no. I'm not crying," Ginny said. Her whole family, their partners and Harry and Lee looked at her worriedly. Victoire stroked Ginny's cheek. "I'm okay, love." Victoire nodded and cuddled into Ginny.
"Ginny? Is everything okay?" Molly asked carefully. Ginny looked at her mother and bit her bottom lip. Florence could only imagine how fast her heart was beating right now.
"I was going to tell you a little later into dinner but... I might as well do it now," Ginny said, sighing deeply. Florence gave her hand a soft squeeze and shot her an encouraging look. Ginny looked at her and smiled softly. Florence could see in her eyes that she was thinking, 'She's worth it. She's worth everything and more.'
Ginny looked over at her family. George, Fred, Angelina, Lee, Harry, Hermione, Ron, Percy, Molly, Arthur, Bill, Fleur and even Charlie. They all had worried looks on their faces and Florence was more certain than ever that there was no way that Ginny was going to receive the same treatment she had all those years ago.
"I'm... I-" Ginny sighed and let go of Florence's hand. She sat Victoire down on George's lap and stood up. She raised her chin and pushed her shoulders back, straightening up her posture. She took a deep breath.
"I'm a lesbian."
No one said anything. Their concerned gazes faded and made way for happy ones. They all seemed relieved that Ginny's announcement was nothing to be worried about. Florence was smiling at her, proud of how her girlfriend had handled it all. Fred let out a laugh, breaking the silence.
"Well, Gin. Thank you for telling us and I'm proud of you, but can you sit down? My potatoes are getting cold," he teased her, shooting her a wink. She looked at him, her lips parting slightly. She seemed to be in shock at the neutral, happy looks on everyone's faces. Fred noticed and stood up. He walked over to her, giving her a tight hug.
"On a serious note... I love you, Gin. If you were afraid that this was going to change that, then you were wrong. I just want you to be happy. If you love women, so be it. Just gives us another thing that we have in common and can talk about," he told her. Ginny hugged him back, closing her eyes for a moment and letting out a soft sigh of relief.
Angelina shot her a wink and Ginny smiled in return. Bill, Ron, Percy and Charlie stood up too, hugging their little sister and telling her the same thing Fred had; they still loved her just the same and they were proud of her for telling them.
Fleur, Hermione and Lee hugged Ginny too, telling them once again the same thing, just in their own words. Harry hugged her too, reassuring her that her sexuality would never make him love her any less - platonically - and that she was still Ginny, and that she could now 100% be and show herself.
Her parents, who both had to wipe away some tears of pride and joy, hugged her tighter than any of the others had, continuously telling her how much they loved her, how proud they were of her and that nothing was going to change.
George was the only one left. He was staring at his plate, not moving an inch. Ginny looked at him, sucking on her bottom lip. Florence knew his reaction frightened her. Florence herself was confused at his reaction. He had never shown any type of hatred towards her and he knew that she was a lesbian too.
"Georgie?" Ginny asked softly. "I'm... I'm still me. I haven't changed. Please don't... please don't be... I don't know, angry?" He turned to face her and immediately stood up, handing Victoire over to Lee, who was seated next to him.
"Angry?" he asked, his voice shaking. Everyone was looking at him suspiciously, wanting to make sure that he was not going to invalidate Ginny or treat her badly. "Why... Why do you think I would be angry about you being a lesbian?"
"Because... Because you didn't say or do anything," Ginny said, taking a deep breath. George nodded, understanding her reasoning. He scratched the back of his head.
"I'm not angry. I promise. I love you just as much. I just wish..." he sighed. Lee looked up at him, giving him a nod that Florence understood better than anyone. Oh. "I just wish that I had been as brave as you sooner."
"What-"
"I'm bisexual," George blurted out. "And I'm dating Lee. I've been dating Lee for... for three years." Lee nodded proudly, beaming with joy. Everyone was looking at them with dropped jaws and twinkling eyes.
"Oh," Ginny said before laughing. She launched herself into her brother's arms. George chuckled and lifted her up. "Oh, George! You scared me, you twat!! Merlin's beard! So Lee's not just Lee, but he's Lee." George laughed and put her down again.
"Yeah. He's my Lee," he said, turning around to his boyfriend who offered him his hand. "I'm sorry that I didn't tell you guys sooner. I was just... I guess I was just scared." Ginny nodded.
"I get it. I was too," she said, patting his back. "But now we can be open about who we love." George nodded, smirking. He glanced over at Florence and then looked back at Ginny.
"Who do you love, Gin?" he asked. Ginny smirked, looking over at Florence. She placed her hand on Florence's shoulder proudly.
"Flo. I'm in love with Flo. We've been erm... We've been together for a little over a year," she explained shortly. Everyone laughed again, nodding, finally piecing everything together about both George and Lee's situation as well as Ginny's and Florence's. Everyone hugged George, providing him with the same words as they had provided Ginny with, and congratulated the two newly-revealed couples.
They all fell silent again when Charlie stood up.
"Would it be too much if I came out today too?" he asked, scratching the back of his head. Everyone's jaw dropped once more. The looks on everyone's faces were priceless and Ginny's courage seemed to have seeped into her brothers.
"Go on, Charles!" Fred encouraged him.
"I'm ace. Aromantic and asexual," he said. "Which means that I don't feel sexual or romantic attraction. To anyone. And that's fine with me." He shrugged his shoulders. "I never felt the need to come out because well, you all know I'd rather spent the rest of my life with dragons instead of focus on a relationship already but yeah, if my siblings are doing it, I might as well tell you too."
"Well, it's fine with us too. We just want you all to be happy," Arthur announced, standing up for a third time that afternoon to hug his son. Once again similar words were shared, this time with Charlie.
"Well, anyone else wants to announce something or can I eat now?" Fred asked jokingly.
"Well... actually," Hermione started, grabbing Ron's hand. Ron nodded, a smile forming on his lips. "I'm pregnant!"
"That's not a sexuality, Hermione," Fred said in all seriousness before bursting out in laughter. "Kidding! I'm so happy for you two! I'm going to be an uncle again." Ron and Hermione shared a bright smile while everyone congratulated them.
"See?" Florence whispered in Ginny's ear. "They love you all the same." Ginny smiled at her and kissed her on the lips, hard and lovingly. It was as if she had been waiting to do that for years. It was nice, to have Ginny kiss her without fear, without a single doubt in her mind and without the thought of her family perhaps not accepting her sexuality.
"I love you," she whispered. Florence felt the blood rush to her cheeks.
"No PDA at the kitchen table!" George announced, smirking at the two women. They all snickered softly before finally diving into the delicious food that Mrs Weasley had prepared for them. They chatted a little bit about their relationships, the pregnancy and the whole coming-out one after the other part. It was a dinner filled with love and loads and loads of jokes.
"Hey Ange, you haven't hugged Gin yet," Fred said to Angelina. Angelina chuckled softly and shook her head.
"I know. But I already knew," she said. Fred gasped, his eyes widening. "Oh no, mister!! Don't even think about it! You knew about George and didn't tell me either!! I promised Ginny I wouldn't tell you!"
"Okay but I only knew because I walked in on George and Lee snogging! Several times!" he said. The whole table laughed as George and Lee's cheeks grew red. "They need to learn how to use a lock! That's never happened to us." Angelina gasped, slapping his chest, laughing.
They spent the rest of the evening laughing, talking and playing games. It was fun and Florence felt incredibly at home with the Weasleys. They loved her too and Ginny was happier than ever. She felt free. Free at last.
It only took a week before Florence's flat was put on the market and the two women were busy moving her stuff into Ginny's flat. It didn't feel weird at all. It felt like the most normal thing ever and it was. This is what they had been waiting for for a while now.
Florence was putting her last few things in a box when Ginny walked into the now empty bedroom. It was strange. Florence had lived in this flat for four years. It had been her home for four years.
Well, since she had met Ginny, it hadn't been her home anymore. Ginny was her home now. Ginny was home. A place feeling like home was no more, Ginny felt like home now.
Ginny leaned against the doorframe and looked around at the pale walls. "It's a bit odd, isn't it? To empty out the place?" she asked. Florence nodded and taped the box shut with the flick of her wand.
"It is. But I couldn't be more excited. It's strange but... I've been waiting for this for a very long time," Florence replied, standing up. Ginny nodded, looking her up and down.
"Me too," she said, letting out a sigh of joy. Florence smiled at her, her heart skipping a beat. If there was one person for everyone, she was sure that Ginny was hers and she was Ginny's. There was no doubt in that.
"Are you ready, love?" Ginny asked. Florence looked at the room once more time before picking the box up and walking closer to Ginny.
No more secrets. No more hiding. Loving and living openly without fear and without secrets. With Ginny. With the love of her life. It had all she had been wanting. All she had wished for. All she had ever dreamed about.
"Ready."
