Chapter 40

Crowley's POV

I watched her as she cut down one vampire after the other. It should upset me seeing her kill my kind but I couldn't help myself but feel pleased. I would have killed these cockroaches myself anyway for having been the cause of Hana's nightmares.

Watching her use my blade however was the highlight of it all. I noticed immidietly it had been heavy for her to handle, it is after all designed to be wielded by a vampire, which have ten times the strength a human has. But she managed non the less. She got more used to its weight the more she used it. Eventually she finished off the soldiers and was left with only the nobles.

Vlad had started begging me for mercy but I ignored him. He had brought this onto himself. The only reason he was still alive now was because my little mouse wanted to finish him and I was more than pleased to comply with her wish.

What suprised me however was that she asked me to step out of the room while she finished off the nobles. Why she had asked me that I wasn't sure, maybe she was afraid that I would change my mind on her killing them if I saw her do it since they were nobles like me. But I couldn't care less even if they were higher ranked than I.

I wanted to show her that she can trust me and I obeyd her requist without arguing. I left the room and closed the door behind me. I leaned against the wall, staring straight at Chess and Horn.

They looked displeased.

"Speak" I commanded. I wasn't in the mood to have to pretend they weren't happy.

Horn took a step forward. Her hand resting on her heart as she spoke.

"Lord Crowley, it is just, how do I say this." She started off, not sure how to proceed without angering me to much.

Chess stepped in instead, always the one to act before thinking things through.

"How can you let that human kill our kind, with your own blade?" She asked, slightly panicked.

I closed my eyes and let out a sigh. I had gone over it with them a million times already.

"That little human in there with my blade is my mate if you forgot about that. She may do as she pleases for all I care." I reply to them easily.

This seemed to displease the two females even more.

"But my lord, what if she decides to use your weapon and your hospitality against you instead?" Horn questions, always carefull on how she phrases her words.

I understood her meaning though. They were concerned that Hana would try to kill me and escape if I gave her too much freedom. It had crossed my mind. But seeing her struggle with the weight of my blade assured me that she wouldn't be able to use it against any of us. Her movements would simply be too slow to be able to suprise us.

I told them as much and they seemed to breath a little easier at that.

That's when the screaming started. Ivon had been screaming for some time by now but it had recently stopped. Now it seemed like my little mouse had finally started on Vlad. I savoured in the sound of his screaming. I had listened to it the past two days as well but hearing it again, knowing my little mate is the cause of it makes it sound that much more wonderful.

As I had told Hana earlier, I had been occupied with Vlad while she had been unconcious. I had made sure to torture him in every way I could imagine before handing him over to Hana. I had restrained myself from touching the other vampires, in case they weren't the ones involved in her attack. That had been unnecesary in the end it seemed because all of them had been guilty.

I had ordered Horn to send a message to Ferid telling him Vlad and Ivon had left the building willingly, wanting to go out and take revange on the humans. It wouldn't be hard to convince Ferid that they had been killed in action after that and nothing would be able to trace their deaths to my mate.

Finally Vlad's screaming stopped. I gave Horn and Chess a look and they left. I waited, I would only enter when Hana was entirely finished in there.

"Crowley?" Her voice drifted through the door. Almost too eagerly I opened the door separating us. The room was empty except for her, holding my blade in her hands. I stopped, waiting to see what she would do with it. Would she try to kill me now?

She looked between the sword and me, clearly thinking about it. But her common sense must have won because she soon handed me her sword.

"Thank you, for letting me borrow it. And for allowing me this bit of vengeance." She says quietly, avoiding eye contact. Her heart is hammering hard in her chest. She's nervous or embarrassed.

I couldn't stop the huge smile from creeping up my face. If giving her a weapon and letting her kill som low life vampires was all it took for her to be happy then I would let her do it every day from now on.I was about to suggest it when she walked past me, not waiting for a reply. I quickly followed, curious to see what will happen next.

While walking she spoke, not looking back at me.

"Which room am I to return to?" She asks, almost shyly.

"You can decide for yourself. The room you woke up in today was my room but I don't use it often." I tell her, hoping deep down she will choose that room. I know she wouldn't escape, she still had her human leader here. And maybe if I made her stay with me more comfortable I can get more time to let the bond settle in.

She humms, thinking about it. Either intentionally or unintentionally, she is already walking towards my room, I follow not saying anything. She opens my door and goes inside but stops before I can enter. She turns around gives me for the first time since I have met her a cheeky sort of smile, and says,"You said you don't use the room often, then go do something else, I'm tired." Before closing the door in my face.

I let her. The sort of half smile she just had given me was swirling through my mind. She was getting more comfortable around me which was a huge success. I couldn't stop smiling from ear to ear as I made my way to my office.
