Chapter 7

Once we managed to find our way out of the subway tunnel it wasn't long until we came upon a medical base. The soldiers there told us reinforcements were needed at Shinjuku's Central Park, the soldiers there were being overwhelmed. After discussing it for a bit we decided it was best to head there first, since it would be only a small detour on the way to the defensive line.

Once there we immediately sprung into action, but the longer the battle went on the harder it became. We couldn't make a proper formation without Yu and Shinoa with us and it effected our fighting. "Behind you Kimizuki!" I warn as soon as I see the vampire ready to attack him from behind. I'm too far away to stop it, all the flashbacks of my previous comrades getting slaughtered are replaying in my head. Luckily though Yu's sword stops it. Left to me Shinoa's scythe destroys two more vampires. Yu cuts down the last vampire and turns to us, a bit confused. "Where are the rest of the vampires?" He asks, looking around. I can't stop myself from laughing."There are none left." Kimizuki says matter of factly. "The one you just killed was the last one actually." Yoichi adds, smiling.Yu looks around at all the clothing left behind by the dead vampires."Well damn you guys! That was awesome." He says, pride in his voice. We smile at him. "Now that we are reunited let's get going" I say, happy that we are back together, but at the same time a bit nervous at the upcoming battle. "Hell yeah, let's move! We're gonna kill every single one of those blood sucking bastards." Yu says enthusiastically.

When we turned the corner my eyes immediately landed on lieutenant Guren. He was in bad shape, bleeding and with two nobles standing right in front of him. The nobles soon noticed us approaching. "Shinoa, what's the plan?" I ask, slightly out of breath from all that running. It took her a moment to reply, "get into formation, we'll safe the lieutenant and immediately retreat!" She ordered. The five of us fell into formation. "Let's do this!" Yu shouted. Yoichi started firing arrows at the approaching foot soldiers that consisted of lower ranked vampires. He shot them down effortlessly. Those who managed to avoid his deadly arrows were soon slain by me, Kimizuki and Shinoa, while Yu went straight for lieutenant Guren and the blonde haired vampire noble who was about to pierce him with his sword. "You damn vampire! Get away from him!" Yu shouted. He struck out, his sword piercing the vampire. Blood splattered everywhere. But something was off. Yu's eyes widened and his expression turned into one of horror. I tried to run to him but was quickly blocked by another wave of vampires getting in my way. I took them out one at a time, swinging my cursed gear with deadly precision. "Activate the curse and kill him!" I hear Guren yell. I glance towards them again, it seems that Yu is speaking to the vampire."Hana behind you!" Kimizuki shouts. I turn around to see a vampire about to pierce me with its swords. Kimizuki manages to stop the attack in time, and killing the vampire in the process. "Are you okay?" He asks, looking at me over his shoulder. "I'm fine, but I'm worried about Yu" when I finished that sentence we both looked towards him. Guren had pushed the blonde vampire back, and was now scolding Yu. "What happened Yu, did you forget how to use your gear?" Shinoa asks while checking on Guren, who was coughing up blood. "No...it's just that... that's Mika... he's family." We all look at the blonde vampire. He's standing next to another noble, a whole horde of vampires behind them, ready to attack. I gulp, I glance at our own forces. We are clearly outnumbered. My attention is brought back when the other noble shouts out his commands. "It is decided, kill off all humans except for Yu." I'm shocked and confused. I didn't yet know Yu very well but I am aware of the fact that he had been a captive of the vampires when he was younger. He was the only one of his family to have survived and escaped, or so it seems. The blonde noble, Mika, looked at us with murder in his eyes. He would kill us without hesitation to get to Yu. "Looks like I have arrived just in time. Sorry for running late Ferid." A familiar voice calls out. I look to see Crowley casually strolling towards Mika, and their leader who I assume is Ferid then. Ferid... the name sounds familiar, could it be Ferid Bathory, the Seventh Progenitor? "Ah Crowley, I've been waiting for you." Ferid says happily. "It's him again" Yoichi exclaims, clearly nervous. A chill ran through me as I saw Crowley draw near, closely followed by those two female vampires from earlier. I made sure to take a couple of steps back, shielding myself from his view."Now that you are here the game I had planned won't be quite as much fun." Ferid says, casually talking with Crowley as if we weren't in the middle of a battle field. "But we could play a new one, I know, we'll capture the Moon Demon Company alive and turn them into livestock." He says sounding pleased with himself. "I can roll with that." Crowley replies, turning to look at us. I made sure to be as far back as possible, standing behind multiple people trying not to be seen by him, his promise still ringing fresh in my mind. I shudder. I feel stupid for feeling so affected by some stupid threat, but when it came from him it felt different, like he would do anything to make it come true. I would just do my best to stay as far away from him during battle, he would be too occupied anyway to focus on a single human.
