Chapter 4

The vampire's smirk grows as we draw near. I will wipe that stupid smirk from his face soon enough. When we get close he moves, and fast. He is behind Shinoa, holding his sword high, ready to slay her, but luckily Yu blocks it with his own sword. "Not bad for a human" the vampire says. Kimizuki his behind the vampire in a moment ready to pierce the blood sucker's heart, however without looking behind him the vampire moves aside. Almost making Kimizuki and Yu collide into each other. I see an opening and I charge towards him, I lash at him with my staff which he easily blocks with his sword. I push all my weight into my weapon but he seems unfazed by my attempt at breaking his defense. He could easily throw me aside with his strength but instead he lets me try to break through. He gives me a broad smile, his fangs flashing and his eyes seeming to light up. He inches closer to me, I push harder against his weapon, now trying to get away from him. But it's no use, in a deep and low voice so only I could hear, he says in a cocky manner, "I figured you would come to me first". If my eyes could throw daggers then he would have two of them driven right into his stupid head right now. "I'm only here to turn you in to ash you blood sucking bastard" I reply with as much venom as I can muster. In reality I am shivering, ever since his eyes landed on me the hairs on the back of my neck have been standing up and my nerves are starting to tingle of his close proximity to me. I finally can't take it anymore and jump out of the way, giving Kimizuki the opportunity to run up to him and attack while Yu attacks from the other side. Finally the vampire's attention draws away from me and I feel like I can breath a little easier. I try to keep my distance this time, standing near Yoichi just in case I need him, or he me.Sadly it isn't long before my two comrades are thrown aside and it's Shinoa's turn to have a swing at him, every movement she makes with her cursed gear is one carefully calculated. Yet it isn't long before she too is send flying across the pavement. I grit my teeth, holding my staff ready to attack again, but Yoichi stops me. "Hana please stay back here, I have a bad feeling about him, the way he looks at you makes me believe he is after you for some reason." He says, all the while aiming and shooting arrows at the noble. His shots would have been perfect if it weren't for this noble's excellent dodging and parry skills. I take a step back reluctantly as I watch Yu and Kimizuki attack again. Shinoa had come to stand protectively in front of me trying to catch her breath. "This isn't good, we haven't even been able to scratch him, at this rate I don't know if we'll make it." Kimizuki screamed out in pain as the vampire's sword cut into his arm. My anger rose inside of me, I won't let my new squad die. I won't allow it. I run past Yoichi and Shinoa, not stopping when they call for me in desperation. I'm running up behind the vampire who is trying to pierce Yu with his sword, I take a leap and as fast as I can I swing down at that cocky blood sucking idiot of a noble. My blade barely misses his mid-clavicle as the vampire stepped aside, he had barely any time to fight of Yu and at the same time dodge my attack. But it didn't matter that I almost had him, I missed in the end. He now turned to me, his red eyes blazing, yet he seemed amused rather than angry. He is grinning now from ear to ear, showing of his sharp fangs. A shiver ran down my spine as he takes a step closer to me. But luckily an arrow goes flying past, forcing the vampire to retreat a few steps. I take my chance and retreat also, making my way back to Yoichi and Shinoa. "I don't get it, he's not attacking you" Shinoa mutters as you approach her. "What?" I ask confused. "It's true, he attacks us with the intent to kill us, but he goes only into the defensive when you attack" Yoichi says. I look behind me to see Kimizuki is back on his feet and at the moment occupying our enemy together with Yu, but ever so often his red eyes goes to me. A chill runs down my spine again. "Look out, above you!" Yoichi suddenly shouts. Yu and Kimizuki jump back and I look up just in time to see two female vampires land next to the noble. Appearance wise I would say these two were also nobles. "Shit" I curse under my breath, we couldn't even beat him alone, now there are three of them."This is it guys, we're really in a bad spot now. We need to fight at full power, let your demons take over almost completely." Shinoa commands us. I ask my demon to share more of her power with me to which she happily complies, she is just as thirsty for vampire blood as I am apparently. We all get ready to fight once more.
