Chapter 3

Third Pov

It's been a few months since they landed in Middle Earth and took up residence by Bilbo. It's been hard for them to adjust to their new lifestyle. It was harder because they were so used to technology so they had to learn how to live without it. They had certain jobs they did everyday. Lilith was in charge of washing the clothes and hanging them out to dry. Kate was incharge of the dishes and washing up. Renée made up the beds and cleaned around the house.

They all helped Bilbo with the garden and shopping. They had to wear different clothes because they couldn't walk around with their clothes due to it being so much different from the rest. They didn't want to stand out any more than they already do.

They managed to get the jobs that Bilbo was talking about not too long after he told them about them. Kate and Renée worked at the tavern and they were able to adjust to that very quickly. They didn't need to work everyday. They only worked 3 days a week because they were still newbies so their boss took it easy on them.

Lilith was babysitting for her neighbour, Maria. Maria was worried at first but after seeing her with the kids she knew that she had nothing to worry about. She became good friends with Lilith and also met Renée and Kate one afternoon when they came to visit Lilith.

They all became very good friends and would often visit her and have tea with her. Bilbo became a father figure to the girls which they all loved as their fathers were unknown to them.

Lilith never knew her father as it was a sore topic for her mom. Kate thought that her dad was already dead as she also lost her mom at a young age due to a sickness. While Renée lost her parents in an accident.

So the girls started to see Bilbo as a father figure and they grew to love him. He was patient and kind to them since they arrived at his door. They also thought he was also very funny.

It kind of reminded them of Kate.

Renée's Pov

I was busy cleaning the counter at the tavern that Kat and I work at because we had a big crowd that couldn't hold their liquor and made a huge mess. Luckily I managed to clean the counter and even the surrounding floor.

Since I was done with my shift and so was Kate we made our way to Maria's house to help Lilith with the little hobbit she babysits. When we got there we saw Maria carrying some bags trying to open the door. So I went to help her to find her keys when Lilith opened the door and we all packed away the groceries.

"Thank you Girls. You are all such sweethearts. I hope you two haven't been working yourselves too hard at the tavern, Renée and Kate. Hmmm? And I hope that the kids behaved and didn't cause much trouble for you, Lilith. They've been more energetic these last few days."

"We haven't been working ourselves too hard, Maria but thank you. Hey, Lilith, we will be waiting for you at Bilbo's while you finish up."

"Kay, I'll see you in a bit, girls." She responded to me as both Kat and I made our way to Bilbo's. Kate stayed in the garden as she loved nature and I made my way inside to tidy up.

Lilith's POV

I shake my head as the girls leave. And then turn my attention to helping Maria with her bags. I start chuckling at her whilst packing the food away in the pantry.

"Oh they've definitely been energetic but it keeps me on my toes. They were angels. I put them to sleep. Hopefully they will actually stay asleep for a while."

We both laughed, knowing that soon those little rascals will be up and about soon but that's what childhood is for. I looked at the time and realised that I had to get back to Bilbo. I hugged Maria and left to head to Bilbo.

I spotted Kate in the garden with her eyes closed. She's been doing that a lot lately. I'm worried about her. She seems to always zone out when Renee and I talk. Now that I mention it, Bilbo's been acting weird lately too. He keeps looking at Kate with curious eyes and if I'm honest, they look alike. Their eyes are the same, their mouths, not to mention their sense of humour.

The only difference is that Kate has darker hair and is more skinny than Bilbo but they could pass as father and daughter. I wonder. What if Bilbo is actually her father. It would make sense.

Bilbo said he lost his wife and daughter when his daughter was two and Kate was two years old when she was brought to the orphanage. The only problem is that she was in our world and Bilbo was here.

I walked up to her and sat by her legs. I felt something hairy touch my arm. I looked and noticed there was hair on the top of Kate's feet. My eyes widened. This can't be some coincidence. Hairy feet, shorter than the rest of us, looks like a female Bilbo but with dark hair and she's beginning to eat like him too. I think Bilbo is her father. But first I need to tell Renée. Maybe she sees the connection and if I'm right, we need to tell Bilbo and Kate.

I got up and walked into the house, looking for Renée. I found her in her room, listening to music on her phone. I closed the door behind me. Renée noticed me and turned her music off, curious about what I had to say.

"Okay what's up? You have that serious I-just-discovered-something-crazy look. Is everything okay sis?" She looked at me with concern.

I hate that she knows me so well. "Ren, do Kate and Bilbo seem alike to you? I mean they sound alike, they act alike, they even look alike despite Kate having darker hair. I just can't seem to get it out of my head."

Renée stayed quieted, probably thinking about the likeness between the two. Her eyes widened in shock as she looked at me, nodding. I knew she had the same hunch I did.

"HOLY SHIT⁈ How did I not see it? They are literally the same person with just a few differences. But wait, how would Bilbo be her father if he was here and she was on Earth this whole time? It's impossible." She paced up and down trying to figure it out.

I realised something. The cave. The cave must've been some kind of portal. Maybe that's how we got here.

"The cave. Think about it. Before we entered the cave, we were back home but after we swam in the pool, we miraculously ended up here, in Middle earth. Maybe it was a portal or something. What if someone brought Kate to our world after finding Kate's mom dead? What if Bilbo's wife is Kate's mom? That would make Katherine a hobbit and Bilbo's daughter. I mean, Bilbo said he lost her when she was two and that's the same age that she was when she was taken to the orphanage before mom and dad adopted her. Maybe we can find some baby pics or something around the house and see if we're right. I know Kate has a baby picture in her bag so we can compare the two."

Renée nodded and we went to Kate's room. We found her bag next to her bed and looked through it. We found the picture we were looking for and studied it very carefully. We went to the living room and found a picture of Bilbo's daughter and we gasped, covering our mouths with our hands. It was identical. Katherine was indeed Bilbo's daughter. We were right. We had to tell them.

We waited until Bilbo came home from shopping. Kate helped him pack away the food in the pantry, laughing at something Bilbo said. I made dinner because I wanted to introduce Bilbo to the kind of food we had back home. Thankfully I still had the recipe on my phone and Renée helped me.

Renée's Pov

We all sat down at the dinner table and I looked at Lilith and nodded.

"Um Bilbo, we have something to tell you and Kate, this involves you as well."

They looked at each other with confusion and nodded for us to continue. Lilith then explained that we noticed them acting alike and how they had some of the same features.

I brought out the two pictures and put it in front of them, hearing Bilbo gasp.

"We think Kate might be your daughter Bilbo. You said you lost your daughter when she was two and that was how old Kate was when she landed in the orphanage. We think that the cave we were at might have been some portal and someone may have taken Kate through it after they found your wife dead as a way to protect her. It's just a theory though. We could be wrong."

I explained as I looked at them.

Bilbo had some tears running down his face and Kate was still in shock, my guess was she was taking it all in. Bilbo then looked at Kate and the picture before shakingly taking her head in his hands.

Kate looked at him with so much emotion,

"My little angel. Is it really you? My little Kate. You look so much like your mother. I knew there was a reason why you felt so familiar. My precious baby girl."

Kate and Bilbo were crying from happiness as Bilbo pulled her in for a hug. Kate gripped his shirt and cried on his shoulder while Bilbo rubbed her head, whispering how happy he was to have his daughter back.

Lilith and I just smiled and let a few tears fall without a care. We then walked to their side and hugged them tight. Bilbo got his daughter back and Kate finally found her father. We stayed like that for a while before letting go and finishing our food, Lilith washed up and I dried off and packed away.

Bilbo and Kate were talking in the living, catching up after being apart for so long. Lilith and I joined them and we all began telling stories about our childhood. We laughed and smiled.

Before we knew it, we were in bed with smiles on our faces. We reunited a father and his daughter after being apart for so long. Now all that's left is for some unruly dwarves and a mysterious wizard to show up. I wonder how that will go.

Awwwww Bilbo got his daughter back and Kat found her father. Happy tears guys, Happy tears. That was emotional to write. I tried not to cry a little inside.  Anyway whose ready for the next chapter. That chapter were it all begins. OR basically where Bilbo doesn't realise how badly he wants to murder Gandalf and dwarves. I know I'm cruel but It is what it is. See y'all in the next chapter.
