Chapter 10: Talking A Walk

A/N

When I do the 'italizes' in this chapter, it is what they are thinking. It would be important to remember that in this Chapter.

As the night moved forward,Astrid was wide awake. She was thinking about all those times when she was nothing but brutal and mean to Hiccup. She feels awful.

She stands up and decides to walk and explore the island more.

As she walks through the dark trees, she sees a small wooden cabin. It is really hard to spot but something about the night makes it easier to see.

Not knowing who or what is in the hut shaped cabin, she walks towards the door and walks inside. When she is in the hut, she hears a really loud and heavy breathing. 

She sees a Big Black Beast.

She walks closer and realizes it a dragon.She is defenseless but she does not give up a fight just because she has no weapons.

'But if I stayed... and tried to... show everyone how... misunderstood Dragons are...' says a voice in her head.  The voice is right. Dragons are misunderstood. Hiccup tamed a dragon and lives with one. But something about that voice sounds familiar. It sounds like...

"Hiccup." says Astrid.

"Astrid?" says a voice.

"How do you know my name?"  asks Astrid.

"Why are... you here?" asks the voice and sounds very familiar and Astrid cant put her finger on who it might be.

"I was just walking around and I found this hut. And I also cant sleep."

"Oh..."

"Yea and you never answered my question. Who are you?"

"You really... don't know... who I am... do you?" asks the man.

After hearing that, Astrid thinks hard.

The dragon: Hiccup trained a Night Fury.

The man's voice: Sounds a lot like Hiccup.

The Hut: Hiccup would be able to build something like this hut.

Th stammering: Hiccup stammers when he speaks Norse. He has been speakng Dragonese for Five years.

"Hiccup?" asks Astrid.

"Yep." Says Hiccup popping the 'P.'

"Why aren't... you sleeping?" asks Hiccup.

"I could ask you the same thing. And I couldn't sleep."

"Why... not?"

"So many things happened that are still processing."

"Yeah. I... understand."

There was moment of silence and awkwardness filled the air.

"So how's... Berk?" asks Hiccup

"Good. You know, everyone misses you. Mostly your father." 

All Hiccup could think was 'Yeah right! All I do is make messes and cause major problems. My father most likely doesn't miss me. He has always been disappointed in me. Everyone one has and always will be.'

"I doubt it. Everyone... has and always... will be disappointed... in me. I have been... a major problem.. to Berk. And almost... everyone hates... me. Even you... Astrid." He mumbles the last three words.

Astrid has a look of pure shock written across her face. She doesn't know what to say.

"I don't hate you Hiccup. Your wrong. But I will give you this. You do cause major problems but it is going to go away by leaving everything behind. Your friends Family. Everyone."

"As I... recall, you have... been mean to me... since we were... little. Ruffnut, Tuffnut, even my... own cousin. And Fishlegs... wouldn't even... talk to me. Toothless is... my only friend... right now. And Friends... don't threaten... to crop your... head off with... their axe. Friends don't... tease their... cousins. Friend don't... make fun of you... and make you life... worse then it... already is. Friends... don't be rude... to the most smallest, weakest, useless... person. I am... that... person."

"Okay. I admit. We haven't been nice to you at all. But you aren't small. You are at least a head taller then me. I feel small when I stand next to you. You are not weak. You have lived by yourself with Toothless for five years. You built this hut. You are not weak. And you are not useless. People are going to see a mistake they made during your life when you save Berk from the Red Death. People need you. They just don't know it yet. You mean something to people." You mean something to me. Astrid wanted to say that last sentence but she couldn't. Not know. Soon though.

As soon as Berk is safe, then Astrid will tell Hiccup how she feels.

The words 'You mean something to people,' sticks in Hiccups head.

'I mean something to people?'
