Chapter 23: A Grave Misunderstanding

(Happy 10k babiiiiiiessz!!! Damn time sure flies fast! Today's song is gonna be "Maps" by Maroon 5!! It gives me shopping-in-the-mall vibes and I'm here for it so without hesitation, I present to you this chapter!)

Akali's POV

I smirked and laid flat on the floor of my room, panting and bathing in my own sweat like I'm melting on the floor.

Two days have passed since the Akatsuki tried to capture Naruto. And after I got back from that hospital, I didn't waste my time on other things other than training inside ID create and increasing the damage of my basic build. I've also been trying to find Item Builds that are as legendary as Manipulator's Cloak or Pollux's gift armor, but so far, none.

It's like I'm lucky enough to be treated like a pay to win player. Not that I'm taking a short cut of course. From all of my explorations in dungeons and battlefields, I've learned that each dungeons are filled with the following:

10,000 minions

1000 normal monsters

100 epic monsters

10 heralds

1 Eternal Boss

Minions are composed with this lineup, mage, fighter and cannon minions. Mage minions are 40 EXP, fighters are 50 EXP and cannon minions are 120 EXP. So let's say that I gain...no to be exact, I gain 310 EXP every minion wave, and there are a total of 10 000 minions in one dungeon, so I'm basically gaining1 033 230 EXP just by killing minions!!

But that's only one level up of course. Seeing as I was only level 70 after I ground mindlessly, without knowing this stats, I was a fool to even let one living being slide. Normal monsters gives 100 EXP each, and there were a thousand of them. To be honest, killing cannon minions was better but seeing that I have no choice, I killed the rest of the normal monsters, 1000 × 100= 100 000. Quite underwhelming after gaining a million on minions, but hey, it's still a plus.

Now, epic monsters and heralds have the same gain, 1000 EXP each. By the time I finished killing them, I gained a million EXP, so another level up.

Last is the eternal boss. This one was the hardest to fight, since it has it's own skills and it's own A.I. that knows how to calculate enemy movement, and I gotta say, I spent 95% of that two days killing all five eternal bosses which are classified as elemental drakes. Each causes exactly one million EXP, not adding the back up wyverns that it summoned every time it nears low hp. Damn. Damn I used up my energy, so to be honest, 12 hours is a fine rest.

To round up and estimate to the nearest value, I say I earned more than 17 million EXP in these 5 dungeons and because my level cap stopped growing larger for the time being, I jumped from 60, to 70, and now level 90!! The next extra level that I'm gonna get is at level 100, and I think I can reach that before Sasuke even leaves the village. That's if, the game master doesn't add duration on my bans.

I smiled in relief and jumped up, taking a bath after my sweat has dried off and changed into comfortable clothes. Today, I'll try and apologize to Juichiro. I didn't really get the chance to the other day and I was so occupied in training that it slipped my mind. And also because the dragons reminded me that I wanted to cook dragon meat for him.

"Hm.....this much......I know this goes well with rice...but what dish?"

I prepared the pan subconsciously and as I stared at it while it's heating.

"That was nice.....I haven't had a good swim like that in decades. You making fried rice?"

Pollux. He entered the room from the bathroom with a towel on his head and nothing for a shirt. I scrunched my nose in disgust.

"You bastard. Buy your own shampoo. You smell sickeningly sweet."

"Don't blame me if you use a men's body soap."

He said and stood beside me while I sauté minced garlic and onions in the pan with the heated oil. He looked at what I was doing and when he saw a small amount of the dragon meat on the side, he took one and ate it raw.

"Aaaahh"

He sounded and threw a chunk at me. Of course me not wanting to waste food, I caught it with my mouth and ate it.

"Good girl~"

He smiled with half lidded eyes. I threw him the nearest lemon that he of course caught. He then reached for a grater then grated the lemon on the rest of the meat, also putting soy sauce and snatching some garlic off of my chopping board. He mixed the rest with his hands and when he was finished, he wrapped it with plastic and put it inside the refrigerator.

"Sit down princess. I'm cooking."

"I didn't know that."

"Not because I'm a shark means that I eat everything raw. I took culinary shit you know?"

He smirked then put the fried rice in the pan, chopping what it seems to be spring onions as he cooked the rest, and finishing it with a dash of soy sauce and one egg, he topped the fried rice with the onions and set it aside.

My mouth watered in anticipation.

[I knew I should've asked him out the second I saw him.]

"And why the f*ck would you do that?"

[He's boyfriend material you know! He cooks, sings he fights well, he takes care of you but also teases you from time to time—

"He's also a narcissistic bastard who's always hungry and out for prey. And how are you not sure he's gay? Not to stereotype anything but he looks like His Hisoka looking at Gon when he eats sh*t"

I resisted the urge to shout "ew" when system ogled at the sight of a shirtless Pollux.

''He's kinda........okay. so sure. I'll consider it."

[OMG YOU'RE GONNA DATE HIM?!]

"NO! I MEANT I WAS CONSIDERING YOU DATING HIM! Wait actually no. I don't want you guys flirting inside my head. Ugh. The thoughts of PDA just makes me shiver."

"I can hear your thoughts from a mile away dumbass."

"Glad to know I can diss you anytime of the day."

He rolled his eyes and pulled the seat in front of me serving two hot fried rice topped with medium rare dragon meat. All together, it looks like that one dish from shokugeki no soma, but I dare not say it out loud.

I took a spoonful of rice and meat, ate it and in no time, we were enveloped in silence as we ate his cooking quietly.

"You're a good housewife. I should've made you do this a long time ago."

"Again with these kinds of compliments. If you want to praise me, say it directly."

"You're not a dog Pollux. You don't need praises like those.....unless......."

Without thinking or saying anything, I immediately pounced at him, tackling him on the ground and pinching the bridge of his nose.

"Whose the best boy huh? Who's bestest best boiiii"

"Me HAHAHAHHHAHAH!! ME! MEEEE!!!"

H suddenly transformed into a small version of megalodon, rolling over back and forth as he laughed his stomach out.

"You're addicted."

I laughed and ran away as far as possible, trying to get away from the shark God's wrath. Hey, at least he knows I learned right?

"You braaaatt!"

When I no longer felt him chasing me, I slowed down to a walk. Ah damn. I should've finished that fried rice first.....I'm still hungry.

I sighed and put my hands in my pockets. I still want to level up....but....ah wait wait waaaaiiit!! I forgot! A natural dungeon! I still haven't found Konoha's natural dungeon! Yosh! I think I'll be level 100 in 5 days or so!!!!

I smirked and left the streets and down to follow the worn out path towards forest of death. It has to be there, since where would you put it if you were the game master? I wouldn't even be surprised if the cave that team 7 stayed on was the natural dungeon. The wind felt good on my face as I ran excitedly through the thickness of Konoha's forests.

"Akali! Hey!"

I stopped running and looked back. It was Jhin, carrying a guitar on his back and panting heavily when he caught up to me.

"Should I buy you weights? Your stamina is, forgive my French, absolute sh*t."

He glared at me through deep breaths as he crushed my hand that he held to balance himself.

"So.....why did you call?"

"Suzaku-sensei.......he..wants us to sing in his..engagement to Miria-san."

"Ha! He finally has the courage to ask her out huh?"

He nodded, now quite rested.

"Let's go to our house. I have a studio and sensei is also waiting there."

"Yeah sure. Lead the way."

"Oh well. This won't take long. Right?"

Before I even realized it, we were at the doorstep of Jhin and Juichiro's house.

"Damn. Are you rich?"

"Better believe it."

He smirked and guided me through a modern Japanese house, with all the updated electronics and all.

"Hey b*tch boy. You gonna ask out Miria-nee?"

I smirked as I sat in front of him, Jhin sitting beside a frowning Suzaku.

"Yes. And Jhin already told you, I want you two to serenade her while I propose."

"Yep. So have any song in mind?"

I asked which earned me a long awkward silence.

"I.......I was thinking you could make one?"

My face got serious. I leaned on the table and stared at him directly. He sweated bullets.

"And when will you need this song?"

".....later...7:00 pm..?"

"Wait sensei, as much as I wanna make it harder for her, later seems so urgent. Shouldn't you have told us earlier?"

"Wow I feel loved."

I rolled my eyes to in which he answered with his tongue out.

"That's the problem. I've been trying to locate your whereabouts 5 days ago. I haven't found you anywhere in Konoha. Not even in your apartment."

He sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose.

"Look, I don't know if I'll ever be ready if I don't do it now. And I don't want to make her wait any longer. So please?"

I stared at him for a little longer before sighing. I chuckled.

"Yeah sure. I already have something in mind. Now let me and Jhin do our magic."

"Me?"

"Yes you. We're gonna duet this out. You sing right?"

"How did you—"

"You have your own studio for Kami's sake. Any idiot would immediately assume that."

Suzaku chuckled at the both of us then bid his goodbyes. Now for the main part.

"Hey system. Any requests on a serenade?"

I thought as I looked at Jhin who was already trying a couple of chords and blending them together.

I said and was about to leave when he asked

"Where are you going?"

"I'm gonna print something so that you could get the tune of what we're going to sing. Wait here. I'll find my way back."

I didn't wait for his response and vanished, entering the nearest comfort room possible and pressing yes on the mini game tab.

I was yet again enveloped in pixels as I was transported to another world, now it's a Greek God's bedroom. Or so I thought it looks like. I didn't waste time and quickly went through everything and cleaned it finding the paper with lyrics on a box full of.......I'd rather not say.

"Nice. Now to memorize this."

I was transported back to the bathroom, so I quickly snuck out and slipped inside the studio.

"You done?"

"Yeah. Here have a look."

He placed down the guitar and took a good look on the paper.

"Did you make this?"

He asked with his brows furrowed. He then placed it down the table and started mimicking the chords he sees on each stanza.

"The chords? No."

"How about the song?? Did you write it?"

".........you could say. Why do you ask?"

"Let's see........you're not exactly a loving type. Or at least I haven't seen that part of you yet. And this song is...like how you don't deserve someone because they're perfect? I bet you'd rather write a song on how perfect you are instead."

"Oi! I get that I'm a b*tch but I'm not a narcissistic b*tch. Plus, there's someone I like too you know?"

"Hah. You? Liking someone? Let's hear who that person is."

He said and stopped strumming, looking at me with a challenging glare. Hm....he's right tho. But I'm in too deep to back down so I need a comeback.

"There is someone. That someone was the girl you saw on chunnin exams."

"The one that almost killed Kiba with a kunai?"

"Yep that one. She's...."

"Wow. Are you some kind of sadist?"

Is he fuming mad? I think he is. There's smoke coming out of his nose and ears, and his face looks like it'll explode any time.

"Oh my. Why so worked up? Was he right?"

I smirked and angered him further. There's no actual way he likes me, so why not tease him. Ah this is fun.

[Wow when his grace Pollux said you were dumb, he was talking about this all along....]

"Yeah right he's the dumb one."

I smirked and sat beside Jhin, raising the paper to the level of our faces, only to realize he's still not looking at me.

"It was a joke. Now let's rehearse this so we can get it over with."

Still flushed, he 'hmped' and looked at the paper again, reading and sometimes humming the tune, but he seems stuck.

"I can't get the proper tone. Can you sing it first?"

I nodded.

I stopped and looked at Jhin, he nodded and plucked the strings and soon enough, he got the first part down.

"Hm....this....is easier than I thought. I just have to repeat the first chords over and over again but add little changes when it comes to the chorus. So I think I got it."

"Nice. I'm gonna section the lyrics so we would duet perfectly."

I said and stood up, sat on the seat in front of him, grabbed a pen and the lyrics and scribbled shit with blue and red ink.

"Those with all the woman or girl words are for him......some of the lyrics should be mine and the rest we blend our voices in. Yep that's it. Now to memorize."

~Flashback 2 hours later cuz me lazy to write the rest~

"Nice! Now all we should do is dress nice! Let's go shopping."

"Wait.......did I tell him that the venue is supposed to be on a hill?"

Me and Jhin looked at each other and gulped.

"Let's run."

I told him and dashed out of his house, him following suit as we darted from roof to roof trying to find where the hell is our sensei at.

"We should split up. You look at the restaurants and flowershops, I'll go find his house and the library."

"Hai!"

We nodded at each other and went to different directions. I headed straight to Takeshi ji-chan's forge.

"Ji-chan!"

"Akali-chan!!! Have you come to visit Takeshi ji-chan huh? Huuuh????"

I said as soon as I entered but was squished by the old man in the cheeks.

"So what brings you here."

"Is sensei here?"

"Suzaku? Oh I think he went somewhere. In the Hokage's office maybe? Search for the library too. He might be ogling at Miria right now"

He chuckled and gave me a head pat.

"Thanks jiji. I'll go find him now."

"Be careful!"

I smiled and ran as fast as I could, now towards the library that's as quiet as ever. I immediately went to the front desk to see Miria-nee talking and laughing with Suzaku. I calmed myself first before casually walking towards the damned simp.

"Oi Suzaku. We have to talk about something."

"Hi Akali-chan! You rarely come here now......me and Obaa-chan missed you!"

"Thanks Miria-nee. I'll be sure to come by if I have the time, but let me take him away first, we have a very important discussion to make."

I smiled and dragged out Suzaku from the library and onto an alley.

"What now?"

"We've finished the song."

"That's great! And so fast too...."

"Yeah yeah that's good and all, but where's the venue."

"Where we first met as kids. The hill on training ground 14."

I sighed in relief. For a second there I thought he reserved in some restaurant or something.

"Why? What's the matter?"

"Not much. It's just that the song has a grass word on it. I wouldn't want to ruin the ambience you know?"

He nodded and sighed. He looks damn nervous and the engagement is not even an hour away from now. He must be shaking.

"Thanks kid. I owe you this one."

He smiled and gave me a head pat. Damn. Feels nice having head pats.

"Yeah? I'll take you on your offer."

I smirked the cruelest I can and he gulped.

"I feel like I shouldn't have done that."

"No backsies. Get your a*s ready, we'll be there in 6:45."

I said and disappeared from his sight. Now where could....

"Akali! Over here!"

Jhin said and waved. He had two bags of what it seemed to be clothes from afar, and I of course ran towards him.

"I have outfits!! Let's go try them on!"

He excitedly dragged me all the way to his house, pushed me in one of the rooms with the bag and waited outside. I shook my head. Okay fine since it's already here.

I looked around the room and saw a bathroom, so I decided I want a quick bath, dried myself and took out the clothes from the bag.

Ah. Tuxedo. Too formal for a picnic date though. Ah whatever. I wore it, but left the jacket since as I said, too formal.

"Are we seriously wearing this? We look like waiters. And we're not even in a restaurant."

I said and went out of the room. Jhin was already done with his tuxedo, and is looking at me weirdly.

"Like what you see?"

I smirked that made him snap back to reality.

"Nah. No wait.Actually, yes. It's refreshing to see you without a blindfold once in a while."

My eyes are still closed but he's indeed right when he said that my hitai-ate was not blindfolded onto me so I quickly dashed inside, took it in the bag and put it on. I sighed.

"Well I gotta get that back on. You know what people does when they see something they aren't familiar of."

I said nonchalantly and put the jacket on my shoulders, not putting my arms in the sleeves and walking past Jhin. He followed me outside as both of us walked towards the destination of our sensei's date.

"Why? Is it because of the lines under your eyes? You could just say it's a tattoo."

"There's a reason why I cover those 'lines' Jhin."

"What reason?"

"Being hunted down by bounty hunters. Being used as a bait for the other person that looks like me and is also a criminal. And unfortunately dying because that other person like me doesn't care about my existence whatsoever. Just because I wanted to let myself be free and take these off my eyes."

"My whole life I fought literally blind just to cover these. I'm not taking them off unless I absolutely have to.''

"Those are gills?!"

His little outburst caught the attention of the people around us, so he quickly covered his mouth.

"Yes I can breathe underwater."

I smirked as we approached the hill Suzaku was talking about. I put a finger over my lips to shush Jhin as we sneaked behind them and prepared for a performance.

"......you remember how we always used to climb up here then roll back down?"

Miria-nee giggled and sighed in the nostalgic memory.

"Yeah. We were so happy about something as simple as that back then."

"Yeah....."

They were wearing what it seems to be a formal attire, as if they just went into a fancy restaurant. Oh well. I guess that's why Jhin chose tuxedos.

"On my signal, follow my lead okay?"

"Kay!"

We whispered to each other as we both watched them conversed. Suzaku looked around, and after seeing us behind the tree, he winked and we immediately understood.

"Remember how I always used to ask you how I want to marry you?"

"Yeah.....you always bring me a flower crown back then. You were so sweet. Even now. I wish the happiness we share stays like this. No wars, disasters whatsoever."

"Well, I can't promise you that."

"Oh sh*t that's the signal! Jhin start singing! From the 'we were just kids part'!!"

"Roger!"

Suzaku held Miria-nee's hand and caressed it, just as Jhin started singing. Good thing that we were quite far away too, so it feels like it was background music.

I sang with Jhin as our voices synced together in perfect harmony, Suzaku delivering the final blow and kneeling down.

~Well I found a woman, stronger than anyone I know. She shares my dreams I hope that someday, I'll share her home...~

Jhin looked at me as we alternated lines, singing just as the mood got awkward when Miria-nee looked at us. Jhin winked and I gave her a thumbs up, that made her chuckle and look at Suzaku lovingly.

"Yes. Now stand up! That tux will be stained with dirt."

She happily said as she was hugged tightly by Suzaku, who's crying tears of joy. Jhin looked at me with a do-we-stop-now look. I shook my head and gave him a let's-finish-this-song look.

Jhin finished with a strum as we both stood up and approached the loving couple.

"So that'll be 100 000 yen, would you like to pay on cash or credit card?"

I smiled as innocently as possible that made the three laugh, making the mood go lighter.

"I haven't heared that song before. Who made it?"

"Believe it or not, she made it!"

Jhin proudly said and slung his arm around my shoulders. Miria-nee smiled

"And you played?"

"Yup! I dabble."

Suzaku chuckled and patted both of our heads.

"Thanks you two. Too bad Juichiro isn't here to see this."

The two then hugged us tight. Ah what a happy ending.

Third Person's POV

"Let's go Jhin we still have something to do. Plus these guys will need their lovey-dovey time."

Akali smirked at Suzaku and threw a condom at his face.

"Consent is the key!"

She said while laughing and ran as fast as she can away from the blushing mess she made. With Jhin in hand, she ran back to their house.

"Sooo what's the other thing?"

"I'll do the same to Juichiro....since he's still mad at me. I gotta go loo loo real quick."

The white haired girl said and left a paper before she went to the comfort room. Jhin read it with brows furrowed. Another song in her scribbles.

"Here's the chords. Still got juice for another song?"

~30 minutes later~

"I got it. Let's go. No more practice practice!"

Jhin looking quite pumped up, said to Akali who removed her hitai-ate from her eyes and onto her hips. Slowly, she blinked and adjusted her eyes to the sudden burst of color.

"Where is he anyway?"

"Backyard. Won't stop training and making new seals after he got mad at you."

Akali frowned, feeling it weird to blink all the time as the two stepped at the back door.

"Ready?"

"As I'll ever be. Let's do it."

Her voice filled with genuine worry and sadness flowed with the wind as it reached the ears of the red head, stealing his attention from the sprawled sealing paper and ink, all the punching bags busted from his rigorous training.

Juichiro looked at the white haired girl, trying so hard to contain the grief he attained all these days. He had his own reason to avoid her. He needs to be away from her and he wouldn't permit himself to come near her until he reached his goal.

But seeing her eyes be filled with worry and suffering from his behavior makes it hard for him to do so.

"Stop please."

Mid chorus, she stopped singing and stared directly onto Juichiro's eyes. The other closing his with force and shaking his head.

"Go home Akali. There's leftover food in the fridge. Eat it and sleep, do you understand me Jhin?"

"Chiro! Don't be—"

"I asked, do you understand me?"

There was nothing Jhin can do as he patted the white haired girl as if to wish her luck. Never before had he seen his twin brother this angry, he always had a soft look on his face. But now that he's enraged, he does make him remethat he's the older twin.

"Yes...."

Akali frowned at the two, before looking at Juichiro.

"I'm sorry."

"For what?"

His statement made Akali shut up. She doesn't even know why the red head was angry in the first place. She lowered her head in shame.

"You don't even know what you're sorry about. Just leave Akali. You have nothing to do here."

"I'm just worried about chunnin exams. I'm sorry I couldn't protect you."

"That's why I'm asking you to leave me alone! If you really care about me, at all, turn around, open the door and don't come back!"

This shocked the both of them to the core. He didn't know he was capable of shouting, let alone to Akali. And she didn't realize he was this frustrated at her.

Her eyes blurred in what it seems to be distraction, as her attention was taken by something else entirely. It was only a couple of seconds before she sighed, giving him one final look in the eye and tying back her blindfold.

"I understand. Have a good day."

She bowed and quickly left. Is this the end of their team?
