Julia and Marc, they knew each other from a so long ago, since they were both 11 years old. It all started in middle school. You might think it's a cute little love story that started from when they were young. But im sorry to tell you it's not like this.

Friends to lovers? No.

Childhood best friends or even friends? Also no.

It was right they knew each other from a young age, but their story isn't the best one, you know? I think i made it clear, let me make it simple for you.

They were like enemies.

You know, that when you go to a new school wanting to make new friends especially if you just moved to a completely new place at a young age. Of course we all will do that or even just think about this happening.

Sometimes it turns out the good way, find good people and have amazing friends. And sometimes it turns out the bad way, like everyone starts bullying you and making fun of you even if you did nothing like for no reason. And if that happened to you then let me congrats you that it will stay with you in every school phase.

That is exactly what happened with Julia. A new girl in a whole new country she doesn't know anyone in, she doesn't speak their language which made it worse for her. She moved there at the age of 11 due to her father's work.

At the beautiful city barcelona, where she went to her first day in middle school expecting the best coming for her, to make friends and people love her because she was a genuinely nice person.

But of course we know what happened after, they made fun of her because of how she is speaking the language, she tried her best learning it but she wasn't professional at it. They bullied her because of how she spells the words, how her british accent would slip from her mouth. How she wasn't one of them.

Not all of them there did this though, but mostly did. A girl started it and then another one then a boy then most of the popular people at school. There was only one friend to her at this school, she was so sweet to her not like the others. Unlike them, she thought she was interesting, she didn't just judge her without knowing her like how the others did. She actually knew her.

Her name was Sofia, she was beautiful herself too.

It was weird because she was one of the students who is known in the school, can have anything she wants plus everyone loved her. For them it was like a shock that Sofia talked to Julia and became friends with her.

They kept telling Julia that she is only fooling her and playing with her, like Sofia doesn't want to be friends with her. And of course Julia believed that because she was surprised why would a girl like Sofia want to be friends with her. But it was all lies and they became best friends anyway.

There was that one day, Julia and Sofia in the class chatting together of course in english since Julia wasn't the best with spanish however Sofia was teaching her some too. Julia asked her for something.

"Ay Sof, i want a bottle of water. I forgot mine." she asked with her big brown innocent eyes, her curls falling over her shoulders in the perfect way needed. Sofia nodded handing her the bottle. "Yeah sure, drink as much as you want." the other brunette girl smiled.

"Ay Héctor, i want a bottle of water. I forgot mine." the boy behind them was the one speaking, he copied her words and the same tone like her british accent that they always teased her about.

She glanced at him, her anger rising by the second she couldn't stand the fact that everyone keeps making fun of her and she doesn't do anything. Sofia was about to speak up for her friend before Julia interrupted her. "What's your problem with me bernal??"

"What's your problem with me bernal? Oh my god im so scared Héctor hide me!" he kept making fun of her, still copying her way of talking which made her more annoyed. They got used about the fact that she doesn't speak about what happens and just let it pass, like if she is a weak person.

But she was the one who didn't want to cause drama. But something about what Marc said made her couldn't take this anymore and let it all out.

It's not the first time he did this to her anyway, but something about this time made her to open her mouth, to finally speak. They were just people like her it's not like they were going to kill her if she spoke.

But she didn't only speak with her mouth.

"Héctor, tell your friend here to stop annoying Julia or else!" Sofia told Héctor who the whole school know they love each other but they never admit it and say it's disgusting, at least that what Sofia says. "Marc just stop already." the other cute boy sighed in annoyance.

"What? You telling me this because your girl asked? No." Marc kept on his stubborn teasing act, Sofia got offended by what Marc said meanwhile Héctor blushed and tried to speak. But the other girl was in another world.

They kept arguing about calling Sofia Héctor's girl and forgot about the fact that it all started when Marc made fun of Julia, however he kept an eye on her in every move she made. She was sipping from the water that Sofia gave to her. But then he looked back at Sofia who was yelling at him.

Julia glanced again at Marc, she remembered how many times he made fun of her, her accent and everything about her in every way possible that made her hate herself. And without hesitation she threw the water that was in the bottle on him.

Gasps filled the classroom all shocked that JULIA spite her water on MARC. One of the most popular and handsome students in the school. He was shocked himself, being all wet with water. His clothes wet, his hair too. He was so angry at Julia in this moment.

He stood up and slapped the desk with his hand, his eyes wide open with anger. "How dare you do this to me!? Are you crazy!"

"You the one who started it Bernal! Fuck off and stop this!" Julia hit back at him not afraid to speak she leaned closer towards him, she didn't plan to back down she had enough. But something in her wanted to leave, she never did this.

"You know what then? I won't stop this Julia! You show me what you will!" he also leaned forward towards her, a challenging look in his eyes.

And with that im glad to tell you all that he was right, He didn't stop at all. He made her like live in hell, still making fun of her and annoying the hell out of her. She thought when she finally learned spanish now everything would be fine and he will stop.

Because this was like the main reason everyone bullied her for, but it didn't seem like this. As the years passed by, both of them at the age of 17, people stopped annoying her and were friends with her. They realized that she was really nice, she became like the native speakers in spanish too.

But Marc wasn't conceived by this at all, he still annoying her like a lot! He even was calling her water but in british accent, it was like it's her nickname for him.

They keep bricking and arguing a lot, everyone knows that about them since they met each other.

There was a football game for the school team, Marc was one of them also because he was a professional football player. He is playing for fc barcelona so everyone wanted him at the team and made him in the starting xi for each time, and he gladly took that.

Since it was an important game for Sofia because Héctor is also playing in the team, she took Julia with her to watch the match. Oh yeah i forgot to tell you, Sofia and Héctor are now together. Yes like a relationship.

"Good luck Babe, you will win this." Sofia was talking to Héctor and gave him a quick kiss, he smiled at her and they kept talking with affection, Julia pretended to throw up. "Oh god, you two please stop it's disgusting."

"Wait to have boyfriend and you won't think like this." Sofia teased her, she knew Julia was kidding but she couldn't help. "Disgusting huh? What about try it with me?" Marc suddenly came from behind Julia.

"Oh fuck off!"

"What? Scared you 'Water'?" again he kept up with annoying her in the accent. "You know if you were not with Héctor in the same team i was gonna wish you bad luck forever."

"Oh my god.. im afraid now, please Héctor don't go to other team, i don't want bad luck. You think im scared of this?"

"Stupid." she huffed in annoyance.

"You two stop already! Aren't you two tired from this?? It has been 6 years already." Sofia stepped in, stopping both of them before going any further. "And like i said before, im not planning to stop. Coming Héctor?" he nodded to him then they finally walked out to the field.

The game didn't go like the best, unfortunately they were not playing good like how they always do, the other team kept scoring goals and each one in a different way like if they were making fun of Marc's team and how much they can't play in the moment.

Sofia was on her nerves hoping that they win, she knows Héctor doesn't care that much about this as long as it's not for barca, but she wants him to keep winning in everything. On the other hand Julia wished that they lose, of course because of Marc.

She hates him, like really hates him from all her heart. Everytime she tries to give him a chance he mess it up. And it all didn't seem to stop soon.

The match ended 4-1 of course not for their school team but for the team against them. Everyone was disappointed at this and sad, the players, the students like everyone. But Julia. She enjoyed this a little bit too much. It was like her chance to annoy Marc about it and bring the hell out of him like how he keep doing with her.

"Oh Marc you are here? Why didn't i see you in the match?" she smirked at him acting oblivious to make him angry even more. He didn't respond to her and just rolled his eyes which made her keep going. "What happened for the good luck?"

"Shut the fuck up Julia! At least im not pathetic like you!" he stood up shouting at her in a clear anger. "Oh really? Im the pathetic one now?? At least i didn't lose just a few minutes ago!" she hit back.

"Okay Julia stop let's leave." Sofia tried her best to pull her away and she managed to do this successfully.

AUGUST 2024

Julia woke up at the sound of a lot of notifications and messages on her phone she looked at the screen in the dim room since the curtains of the room was closed. She saw a lot of messages from Sofia, and a lot of instagram notifications too.

She decided to see them later, as first she went to take a shower and got ready for the day. After this she opened her phone and saw the messages from Sofia.

Julia's Pov:-

I couldn't believe what i read like what the hell? Marc got injured? I have heard that the acl injury is so bad i couldn't imagine that someone i know would have it. Like Marc? From all people him.

I thought it was some kind of a joke but when i opened my instagram it was real. He got injured in yesterday's match while playing with barcelona.

I remembered the first time i saw how happy he was because they upgraded him to the first team, how he looked so cute and sweet saying this news in front of everyone. His eyes liting up with sparks, smile all over his face.

He was cute unlike how he is always with me.

It was weird that im thinking like this of him, but i couldn't help it. I know that he annoyed me a lot, kept bullying me and most of the time i couldn't stand him.

But we like grew up together, even though we hated each other but seeing a person you grew up with and saw him in every phase. And seeing him get injured made something in me change.

I have never felt this before.

I saw the video when he got injured and how he looked after, crying in the field and them taking him to the bus it all changed my feelings all of a sudden.

Love?

Of course not, it could never be like this. I should remind myself that after all he is MARC BERNAL.

The boy who made me hate my life before. Who made me insecure about myself, my language and accent.

But something was different now, like SO different.

I couldn't understand what im doing until i found myself in front of his house, i collected my thoughts and took deep breathes then i let myself knock on his door.

His mom opened the door and she let me in to wait for him in the living room, she was so sad and worried about her son it was clear for sure. She talked to me for a little while before Marc came down by his brother's help. She told me he will talk to me for not so long because they are going to the hospital so he can do the surgery.

I saw the tired look in his eyes and also the surprised one too. He was surprised to see me here, im not surprised myself because i was gonna be the same if this happened to me.

He finally sat down beside me on the couch, his leg stretched out in front of him resting it on the small table in front of us, he finally spoke up. "You came here to make fun of me, right?" i could barely hear his words but i managed to anyway.

"No Marc no. I would never do this to you." i was actually a bit offended but i let it pass, of course because of our relationship he would think like this.

"Then why are you here??" i was silent for a few seconds.

"I got worried about you." i let it slip out from my mouth.

"You worried about me?? You kidding right?" he let out a dry laugh.

"Im being for real Marc. I know this is strange but Marc when i saw what happened i felt something change in me. My feelings completely changed, i never let this happen but this managed to do it to me. I finally let myself realize that i like you.. that i tried to hide it all and deny it. That i hid the fact that sometimes i enjoyed the fact how much attention you gave me even if it was in the wrong way. Marc i really care about you, i realized that.. that i love you Marc." i don't know how i said all this but i did.

He looked so shocked, the surprise look in his eyes, he was silent he didn't say a word clearly trying to understand and take in what i just said. "You.. you love me? Julia after what i did? You lying."

"Marc no.. i really love you." i said it again i couldn't tell if this was a dream or no but it's happening, i feel that he really saw the truth in my eyes.

"I.. I love you too Julia. I never thought this would happen but you saying this.. it gave me the courage to speak what i really feel about you Julia." and now i was the confused one.

"I know it's also weird for you to understand this but since i met you i saw that you were different from the others, you were nice and pretty. Your accent.. i really loved it, i know i kept making fun of it but it was just to hide the fact that i love it and i love hearing you speak." he paused for a moment.

"I did it all to hide the fact that i love you Julia."

"You are going to be fine and come back even stronger. You will continue this amazing career and im sure of it Marc." I saw his mom coming down the stairs a sign that they were going to leave for the surgery that's why i rushed and said it all.

I felt his arms wrap around me tightly, like if he didn't want to let go forever, i felt his worry and anxiety about the surgery but he tried to make it all seem so simple like if there is nothing.

He pulled away for a moment wiping a tear away from my cheek, he kept looking in my eyes then he spoke up.

"We wil definately talk about this after the surgery."

"Yes, sure Marc."

"In case something happened after, keep that i love you in your mind Julia."

"I will Marc, I love you too. Don't forget this too when you go there."

"I won't Julia.. i won't."
