one year later, yumi and joshua had finally moved in together. they moved in two weeks ago. today, they were celebrating their one year anniversary.
joshua managed to get the day off, so he could prepare a surprise for yumi. but yumi couldn't take the day off, her boss didn't let her since she had to meet with seventeen's team to discuss the last few details of jeonghan's and wonwoo's album, which was going to be released next month.
when the meeting ended, yumi quickly picked up her things so she could leave.
"yumi," wonwoo stopped her. "i'm so sorry you couldn't take the day off because of us."
"what? no, that's fine wonwoo." she smiled at him. "i don't mind, really. i love working with you guys."
"i know, but it's your anniversary." he sighed. "but thank you, really. working with you was the best decision we ever made."
she smiled as she hugged him. "thank you wonwoo! i'll see you later, okay?"
they said goodbye to each other and she left, heading to her car. she was finally going back home, to be with joshua.
meanwhile, joshua had cooked dinner. he cooked many dishes, and he made dessert. he bought flowers, which were placed on the kitchen counter. he even bought yumi a few gifts. he bought her the watch she'd been asking for, a new dress, a coffee maker for their new home, and he made her a photo album, filled with all of their pictures from the moment they met.
the sound of the door opening interrupted his thoughts, he walked out of the bedroom, dressed in a black shirt and black pants.
"i'm so sorry i'm late." yumi breathed.
she took off her shoes and walked in, giving him a peck on the lips. "happy anniversary, my love."
he pulled her in for another kiss. "happy anniversary," he whispered.
he lead her to the kitchen and she saw the table he set up.
"wow, this is beautiful!" she hugged him.
they sat down together and started eating, talking about their day. he told her how he cooked the food and how he actually burned some of it and had to cook it again, making her laugh, while she told him about the meeting she had with wonwoo and jeonghan.
when they were done eating, joshua led her to the bedroom, and she saw the gift bags on the bed.
"joshua, this is too much."
"this isn't too much." he smiled. "i love spoiling you. come on, open them."
first, she opened the watch, which made her squeal and she pulled him in a tight hug. next was the dress, it was a shiny black dress, that probably reached her knees, and it looked gorgeous.
"wow, this is beautiful." she smiled.
she'd been asking for a coffee maker too, so she was happy to see he bought it. and lastly, the photo album. she went through it with a smile on her face, and soon, tears filled her eyes.
"god, i love you so much."
she pulled him into a hug, causing him to fall on the bed with her on top of him.
he laughed. "i'm glad you liked it."
"i love it," she whispered, tightening her grip around him.
"you're killing me." he laughed and she pulled away.
she was still on top of him, she ran her fingers through his hair gently as she looked into his eyes.
"i love you," she said.
"i love you too." he smiled at her.
"time for my gift."
she got up, running back to the living room. a few seconds later, she came back in, with two bags in her hand.
"here you go."
he opened the first one, and it was a perfume he'd been asking for. the second one was a watch that she saw and thought would look good on him.
"thank you, yumi." he kissed her cheek. "i love it. i have one more gift though."
"what is it?" she asked.
"follow me."
she followed him to the living room. that's when she saw the flower petals on the ground, forming a heart. when she turned back to him, he was down on one knee.
"yumi, from the moment we met, i knew you were special," he began. "your smile made me fall in love with you, even when i didn't know who you are. you're my girlfriend, and my best friend, and i can't imagine my life without you."
at this point, yumi was crying.
"you weren't just a fan, yumi." he smiled. "you were something more. when i found out about us working together, i knew it was fate bringing us back together. i loved you from the moment i saw you, and i knew you were going to be more than just a fan. yumi, will you make me the happiest person in the world and marry me?"
joshua opened the tiny box in his hands, revealing the ring. yumi bent down to her knees, reaching joshua's level.
"yes joshua." she laughed. "i will marry you."
he gently placed the ring on her finger, and then pulled her in for a deep kiss, his hands on her waist as he pulled her closer. when they pulled back, they were breathing heavily, their foreheads still touching.
"happy anniversary, baby," he whispered. "i love you so much."
"i love you too, darling." she smiled.
and as they sat there, wrapped in each other's arms, the world outside seemed to fade away. it was just the two of them.
and this was just the beginning of their love story.
