19:21, 24 November 2024It has been a few weeks now and Jenna was finally back on set. Most of your friends and family as well as Jenna's knew that Jenna was pregnant and that you were both engaged. You were able to find a remote job so you could earn some money while taking care of Jenna.
You and Jenna had settled into a comfortable routine. You worked from home and Jenna's work schedule was now adjusted so she didn't have to be on set for too long. ....... You were currently in the kitchen making breakfast while humming a familiar tune to yourself as you cooked. Just then Jenna shuffled into the kitchen, still looking a bit sleepy. She wrapped her arms around you from behind, a small yawn escaping her lips.
Y/n: "Morning my beautiful baby momma"
Jenna buried her face into your back, her voice a bit more muffled as she spoke.
Jenna: "Morning"
You chuckled a little, continuing to cook. You glanced back over your shoulder at Jenna, your expression soft and loving.
Y/n: "How are you feeling this morning? Any nausea or anything?"
Jenna mumbled something unintelligible into your back, which probably meant 'no' in sleepy Jenna language. She leaned more heavily against you, clearly not fully awake yet.
You smiled and continued cooking, enjoying the feeling of Jenna clinging onto you. After a few more minutes, breakfast was ready. You turned off the stove and gently turned around to face Jenna.
Y/n: "Okay sleepyhead, go sit down, breakfast is ready"
Jenna released her grip on you and walked towards the table, half-asleep. She slumped onto a chair and rested her head on the table with another yawn. You couldn't help but find her adorable. You plated breakfast and brought the food over to the table, setting a plate down in front of Jenna, who had dozed off a bit. You chuckled softly and gently shook Jenna's shoulder.
Y/n: "Jenna, wake up sleepyhead, breakfast is ready"
Jenna groaned a little, swatting your hand away.
Jenna: "Five more minutes"
Y/n: "No, you have to eat or you'll get cranky and I don't want to deal with a cranky and hungry Jenna so sit up and eat"
Jenna reluctantly opened one eye, then sat up, rubbing her face. She glared at you a bit before taking a bite of her food. You just laughed, knowing Jenna wouldn't stay angry for long.
Emma walked into the kitchen which caused you to turn at the sound of her footsteps. You smiled when you saw her entering.
Y/n: "Hey Emma, you hungry?"
Emma nodded still a bit sleepy.
Y/n: "Ok, come on sit down, I'll fix you a plate"
Emma took a seat at the table next to Jenna, who was still munching on her food. She yawned widely and rubbed her eyes, still not fully awake.
Y/n: "You both are sleepyheads this morning, huh?"
Jenna just grumbled in response, apparently too focused on her food to reply. Emma yawned again and nodded, looking at you bleary eyed.
Emma: "Yeah, I didn't really sleep well last night"
You placed Emma's plate in front of her, handing her a fork.
Y/n: "Why not? Bad dream or something?"
Emma: "More like a restless night, my mind was just racing, you know? Happens sometimes"
Y/n: "Yeah, I get that, it sucks when you're tired, but your mind doesn't want to let you sleep"
Emma: "Exactly, I tried to count sheep but that didn't really help"
Jenna: "Did you ever try just like, staring at a blank wall? I find that weirdly relaxing"
Y/n: "Jenna love, not everyone finds staring at blank walls relaxing like you do, but maybe Emma just needs something to do during the day to tire her out a bit more"
Emma: "Yeah, maybe you're right, but sometimes even when I'm tired my mind just won't shut off, it's like it has a mind of its own"
You nodded understandingly. You knew firsthand how it felt to have a mind that wouldn't settle down when you needed it to.
Y/n: "Have you tried something like meditation? I've heard it can help with that"
Emma: "I've tried it a few times, but it's not really my thing, I just can't seem to find the stillness in my mind"
Jenna: "You know what could help?"
Emma: "No, what?"
Jenna: "One of those white noise machine thingies"
Y/n: "Like rain sounds?"
Jenna: "Yes"
Emma: "Ooo, that could work, I never thought of that, I usually just read a book or something, but sometimes that doesn't work either, so I'll try the rain sounds tonight"
Y/n: "Yeah, give it a shot and if it doesn't work, just come to me and I'll bore you to sleep with my life stories"
Jenna chuckled at that, covering her mouth to stifle her laugh, while Emma rolled her eyes. You grinned, feeling a bit mischievous. You had a talent for spinning seemingly mundane stories into hilarious entertaining anecdotes.
Y/n: "I have plenty of life stories that would bore you to tears, like the one about the time I got locked in a public bathroom, or the time I accidentally joined a dance battle, or the time I had an awkward encounter with a squirrel, the list goes on"
Jenna: "Baby, I'm pretty sure most of those things didn't even happen"
Y/n: "How dare you doubt the validity of my stories, don't make me bring out the big guns, like that one time I had a lightsaber duel with a vacuum cleaner"
Emma: "That's definitely not possible"
Y/n: "Says you, you weren't there, besides I have witnesses"
Jenna: "Witnesses who are probably imaginary knowing you"
Y/n: "Oh come on, have a little faith in me, who knows what wild adventures I got up to as a kid? Though I will say, fighting a vacuum cleaner was exhausting, those things are deceptively agile"
Jenna laughed shaking her head at your antics.
Jenna: "You really have a flair for the dramatic hun"
Y/n: "I like to think of it more as creative storytelling, it keeps life interesting you know?"
Emma rolled her eyes, trying to hold back a smile.
Emma: "Creative storytelling indeed, I think it's called exaggerating Y/n/n"
Y/n: "Semantics, Emma semantics, I prefer to call it creative exaggeration, it makes it sound more impressive"
Jenna: "Yeah, you're the queen of 'creative exaggeration' that you could tell a story about going to the grocery store and make it sound like an epic quest"
Y/n: "Oh, I could definitely turn a grocery trip into an epic quest, imagine battling a horde of cranky cashiers, hunting down the elusive sale aisle, and outsmarting the villainous self checkout machine, it would be glorious"
Emma shook her head, unable to suppress her laughter.
Emma: "Y/n/n, your imagination is both impressive and a little concerning"
Y/n: "Hey, it's all about maintaining the element of surprise and keeping life interesting...who wants to be bored when you can embellish things a bit?"
Jenna: "Well, love you keep being your creative, exaggerated self, because I love it and wouldn't want you any other way"
Y/n: "Why thank you love, I aim to bring a little pizzazz to yours and Emma's otherwise dull world"
Emma: "Dull? I wouldn't quite say that, but thanks for the entertainment, Y/n/n I think we all needed a good laugh today"
Y/n: "My pleasure, Emma if I can bring a little humor and silliness to people's lives, even just for a moment, then I've done my job"
Jenna and Emma smiled and nodded at you, because they knew that you thrived on bringing joy and laughter wherever you went, even if it came at the cost of a little creative exaggeration and imagination. ....... Y/n: "Why and how did you drag me to come to the mall? you know I fucking hate crowded places"
Jenna: "Oh come on baby, it's not that bad it's just a little shopping, besides you need some fresh air"
Y/n: "I could get 'fresh air' at home by just opening up a window or by simply walking out to the balcony"
Jenna: "That doesn't count and you know it, you've been stuck inside working for the past week, you're even turning as pale as a ghost"
Y/n: "Hey, I resent that, I am not ghostly pale yet, my skin tone is the perfect hue of...okay maybe you have a point"
Jenna: "Of course I have a point, now come on we're not even in a packed part of the mall, see how much open space there is?"
She gestured to the area around the both of you to emphasize her point.
Y/n: "Yeah, but you know how I get with large crowds, I feel like everyone is looking at me, judging me"
The worry on your face was evident as you glanced around the mall, avoiding eye contact with passerby. Jenna reached out and gently placed a hand on your shoulder, giving it a reassuring squeeze.
Jenna: "Baby, I promise nobody is judging you, look half of the people are on their phones and the rest are probably thinking about what they need to buy, so nobody is paying attention to us, I swear"
Y/n: "I guess you're right, I'm probably just being paranoid or something, thank you love"
Jenna: "Of course baby and if you start feeling anxious again, just squeeze my hand and I'll distract you, okay?"
Jenna gave your hand another comforting squeeze, a silent promise that she would be there for you through this. The simple gesture was enough to help ground you, bringing you back to the present moment and the comforting presence of Jenna.
Y/n: "Okay, let's just get this shit over with as quickly as possible"
Jenna chuckled pulling you through the mall towards the first destination.
As the two of you wandered through the mall, you couldn't help but feel a bit more relaxed. Jenna kept talking, sometimes commenting on the window displays or pointing out a cute outfit for you to try on. You felt your worries gradually disappear, replace by Jenna's soothing presence.
By the time the shopping trip was over, you had actually had fun, even in the crowded mall and all thanks to Jenna's distracting company and sweet reassurance.
This was kind of a filler chapter more than anything.
