Chapter 4

17:19, 15 August 2021

Savitar sat up and rubbed Caitlin's back softly, "who was that?"

"Cisco. He wants us at the lab right now."

After getting dressed, Savitar ran himself and Caitlin to Star Labs where everyone waited.

"So now that everyone's here, can you tell us what you saw?" Harry asked, not having his morning coffee was really affecting him.

Cisco glanced at Caitlin, "I was doing the morning rounds when I noticed a high heat signature from downtown. I thought it a was fire of some sort, but the temperature's too hot."

"Lava?" Iris asked.

Cisco shrugged, "there're no cameras in the area, I don't know for sure."

"Then let's go take a look," Barry said to Savitar who nodded.

The speedsters suited up, but Caitlin stopped them, "be careful, okay? We don't know as much as we should," she had a sick feeling in her stomach.

Barry smiled and Savitar's eyes softened, "we will."

The location was hard to miss, people were running away from every direction and fire engulfed cars and buildings.

Barry and Savitar looked at each other in fear, they had never seen something like this before.

"Um, guys. The CCTV cameras just shut down on me," Cisco said through their telecoms, "you're on your own until I try and find another way."

"I'll go check the buildings to see if anyone's there," Barry suggested.

Savitar nodded, "and I'll go find the source."

He ran in the opposite direction of where everyone was running and looked around.

"Guys, I don't think the heat signature was a thing," he whispered.

"Then, what?" Iris asked.

"I'm coming in for backup," he heard Frost say.

Savitar was met with two enormous fireballs but underneath, he could see human-like figures.

He squinted his eyes, "hey!" He shouted, trying to catch their attention, but it was no use.

The fire humans were more interested in fighting each other.

"I don't know if you can tell but you're hurting innocents!"

They looked at Savitar and yelled, "get away!"

"I can't do that. This is my city," before Savitar ran up to fight, he heard Caitlin's voice not far off.

"Ronnie?" She gasped which caught him off guard.

One of the fire humans looked back but the other one and the much more angrier one, threw a fireball at Savitar who couldn't react in time.

"Savitar!" This time, instead of Caitlin, Frost yelled and threw an icicle which caught the attention of both fire humans.

They faced their palms to the ground and flew away.

"That's what I thought," Frost smirked and ran toward Savitar who was unconscious. Barry was next to her and she sighed, "took you long enough."

Barry ran Savitar to Star Labs and Caitlin carefully examined him.

Savitar didn't know Ronnie Raymond, sure he had memories of him, but all he really knew was that he was Caitlin's first love, which made him a bit uncomfortable. Sometimes, deep into the night, he could hear Caitlin cry out to Ronnie.

It hurt him that she had to see him die twice and hurt him even more that he couldn't do anything to ease the pain. Instead, on nights like those, Savitar would hug Caitlin tightly, a subtle act to show that he was there to protect her if she needed it.

He might've not known much about Firestorm, but he did know Caitlin was never really the same after he had died during the particle accelerator explosion.

Savitar opened his eyes lightly and found Caitlin's back toward him, quiet. He heard murmurs from the cortex and tried to sit up, wincing in pain.

Caitlin turned around, "you're awake," she said in relief.

"Yeah, I am."

"Quicker than expected..."

"Was that really Ronnie?"

She shook her head, "I don't know. I should've never-"

"You think this is your fault," he stated, finally understanding why she was so quiet.

She checked his pupils, "I know it is."

He pushed her hand away, "no it's not, Cait. Besides, I'm fine."

"You wouldn't have been if it were for your powers. A normal human would have died."

He pulled her closer to him, "look at me," he said softly as he lifted her chin, "it was an accident. I don't blame you, so you shouldn't either, okay?"

"Savitar-"

"Plus, even if I didn't have my powers, I know you'd save me. You always do."

Caitlin's lips perked up slightly and Savitar smiled.

"Caitlin, do you-" Cisco walked in and paused at the sight of Caitlin in Savitar's arms. He shook his head, "so you're awake, okay. Um, well, how are you feeling?"

Caitlin got up and walked to her working desk while Savitar smirked, "feeling great. Do we have anything on the guy who tried to kill me?"

"Hellfire?"

"You named him Hellfire?"

"What? You don't like it?"

"No, it's not bad, actually. So, anything?"

"Not much, your suit's completely recked," Cisco said, angry, "but other than that nothing."

"What were you going to ask me?" Caitlin asked.

"If it was really Ronnie with the other guy."

"I don't know," she said softly, "maybe I was confused since they have the same powers, but his face was so much like ..."

Savitar held her hand, "when you yelled Ronnie, only one looked back."

"But it can't be him. He can't be back."

"Even if it is, we'll figure it out," Cisco said, "I have a feeling this situation isn't going to die down any time soon. But, I do have good news."

Savitar raised his eyebrows, "what is it?"

"Hold on," Cisco ran out the medical bay and came back with a tremendous statue that was covered with cloth.

Caitlin rolled her eyes playfully, "I hope it's not what I think it is."

"If you think it's Savitar's new suit, then you're right!" He dramatically pulled the cover off and revealed a suit that was identical to Barry's but it was black instead of the iconic red.

Savitar couldn't contain his joy, "this is incredible," he whispered and got up but gasped in pain.

"I got you," Caitlin put Savitar's arm around her shoulder and supported him.

"I was working on it for some time and with the stand-in suit burnt up, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to reveal this beauty."

Caitlin gave him and angry glare and his smile dropped, "of course, your situation is anything but perfect."

"Thanks, Cisco. I love it," Savitar smiled.

"Guys!" They heard Iris call from the cortex.

Cisco and Caitlin helped Savitar to a chair and pushed him out to find Barry, Iris, Harry, and Ronnie outside.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I saw this suit a while ago on Instagram and I just knew if Savitar were around, this suit (with the season 4 cowl) would be his.

QOTC: Which season of The Flash had the best suit?My Answer: I don't know if you guys remember, but I really liked future (2024) Barry's suit from season 3.
