Chapter 16

I walked in the kitchen to get something to drink.  I went into the fridge to see a pitcher of water sitting on the shelf in the door.  "I guess that'll work" I said, as I grabbed the container and closed the fridge.  I took out a glass, as I poured myself some and took a sip. Instantly I coughed as I dropped the glass, and it crashed on the floor.  I fell to the floor, as I coughed some more, not trying to control any of it at this point.  I heard footsteps walk into the kitchen as Kou sighed. "Skylar, what's wrong?" his voice spoke, as he walked more into the room. I couldn't talk to him because the coughing wouldn't stop.  I felt my stomach turn within every cough that I took.  Kou walked up to me as he knelt by me."Skylar are you alright?" he said, as I just continued.  I couldn't even stop to look up at him, the coughing would just get worse.  Kou looked up at the doorway to the kitchen, as he yelled out of the room. "Hey, can I get some help in here? Something's wrong with Skylar" he shouted across the room as he looked at me.  "Can you get up Skylar?" he asked, as I shook my head. " I don't think so" I said, as I coughed some more, and felt something come up.  I rolled so I was on my hands and knees, with Kou trying to get me to stand up. "Here, let me help" he said as he helped me up, but I ended up falling back to my knees feeling worse.  "Oh Skylar" he said, as I continued to cough.  Footsteps ran closer into the kitchen as Ruki spoke. "What's going on?" he asked, as he came in front of me.  Kou shook his head. "I don't know, she just was drinking water, then she started to cough" he explained as Ruki watched me.  I coughed a few more times, as something dripped on the white floor tile.  The liquid was a dark red, almost looking like blood.  I tasted the iron of my blood on my tough, which made me puke up more.  "Oh no" Ruki said, more to himself then to Kou as he lowered his voice.  Kou shifted as he spoke. "That's not good" he said, as movement happened, and someone was next to me. "Let's put her on the couch" Ruki said, as he picked me up, and cradled me in his arms.  I nussled my head into his chest as I stared to get weaker and more sick. 

"Stay with us, Skylar" Ruki said, as he hurried into the living room, and rested me on the couch. Yuma and Azusa looked up from their seats as they walked over.  "What happened?" Yuma asked as Ruki shook his head.  "She's coughing up blood. Which is normaly what humans aren't supposed to do" he said, as he felt my forehead.  He looked at the other three as he spoke. "Can one of you go get me a bucket, so she can throw up in" he asked, as Yuma left the room.  Ruki looked over as he spoke. "Kou, go grab me a pillow and a blanket" he said, as Kou did his command. "Here" Kou said, as he handed the pillow to Ruki.  Ruki grabbed it, and stuck it under my head. Kou put the blanket over me at the same time.  I felt weaker, as I started to close my eyes, letting the tiredness take over.  "Skylar, stay with us" Ruki yelled at me, as Yuma walked back in with the bucket.  Ruki took the bucket from him, as he placed it by my head.  "Here, throw up in this bucket" Ruki said, as I turned and puked up more blood right into the bucket.  I felt a hand on my leg as Yuma spoke. "Good girl Skylar, just don't fight it" he said, as I continued.  I stopped throwing up as I flopped back on the couch, feeling weaker than before.  This is like the beginning at the shelter.  I was dying.

Ruki placed a hand on my forehead, as he rubbed it around my head.  "Is she really going to die Ruki?" Azusa asked, as Ruki shook his head.  "I dunno. Should I call Reiji to get help?" he asked his younger brothers.  I coughed and couched as I bent over the bucket again, and puked up more blood.  "That's a lot" Kou said sounded discusted over it.  I put my head back on the pillow as I sighed, feeling weaker by the minute.  I heard Yuma sigh as he spoke. "Reiji might just say to kill her, but you can try it."  Ruki got up as he rushed to the phone.  He dialed another number, as he spoke to another person on the other side of the lien. "Yeah, she's coughing up blood.  Can you come help us?" he asked, as the room fell silent.  I bent over the bucket, as threw up more of my blood.  I rested my head back on the pillow, as I heard Ruki hang up the phone.  "He's commig over to help. They'll help with this" he said, as Yuma looked at him. "Your letting him help? After what they did to her earlier?" he asked getting mad.  Ruki eyed his younger brother as he spoke."Oh, did you want to kill her?" he asked, as I coughed some more.  My vision started to get blurry as I started to close my eyes. "Skylar stay up with us" Kou said as he shook my body.  I peeked open my eyes, as I started to get tired.   I blinked a few times as I spoke. "I want to sleep" I said, with a sick and tired voice.  Kou shook his head as he sighed. "I know, but for right now, you need to stay up" he said, as I started to drift off into tiredness.  Kou shook me again as he spoke. "Skylar, you got to stay awake for us" he said, as I opened my eyes again.

My vision started to blur again, just like when I was in Reiji's lab.  "Skylar, stay with us" Kou said as a knock came on the door.  "Come in" Ruki said, as the door opened and the Sakamaki's along with Yui came into the room.  "Ok, let me through" Reiji's voice spoke, as he walked next to me and sat on the table.  He looked at the bucket as he sighed. "Did she just do that?" he asked, as Ruki nodded. "Yeah. Do you know what's going on with her?" he asked, as Reiji shook his head.  "No, I don't.  Did anyone from the shelter come here at all, since you taken her out?" he asked, as Ruki looked at him. "Just the guard, but we stayed in the room with them. We didn't trust him at all" he explained as Reiji looked back down at me.  "Ok" Reiji said as he looked back at me.  I started to shut my eyes again, but Kou shook me awake again. "Stay up Skylar.  You can't sleep right now" he said, in a low tone, so it didn't make my head hurt.  Reiji continued to stair at me as he sighed. He looked over at my eyes, as he just watched us.  I looked over as everything started to go blurry again.  Reiji looked down at me as he spoke. "This happened when I took her.  Which isn't good" he said, as I shut my eyes and started to sleep.

I moaned a bit as I opened my eyes again.  My eyes were now a blackish purple color, just like before.  "Um Skylar?" Kou asked, as I sat up on the couch.  "This happened before" Reiji spoke as everyone looked at him. "What are you talking about? Did you do this?" Ruki asked as Reiji shook his head. "No, but last time this happened, she tried to kill me" he explained.  The Mukami's looked at him in shock. "Like how?" Ruki asked, as Reiji looked at him. "She tried to stab me with a little knife.  I pinned her down before she could succede" he said, as I stood up from the couch.  I started to walk out of the room as Yuma's voice spoke. "Where you going Skylar?" he asked, as I stood in the doorway.  I didn't say anything to any of them, nor did I turn to face him.  I just kept walking towards the front, opened the door and went outside.  I continued to walk across the garden and into the woods, as the front door opened.  "Skylar, where you going?" Ruki yelled from the front door.  I stopped just to reconise who it was, then I continued to go into the woods.

I walked through the woods, as I  continued walking deeper until I hit a city.  The traffic lights glistened in the moonlights, helping people in the sidewalk see more clearly.  I bumped into something as the person spoke. "Hey, watch it" the being said, as I stopped walking.  My eyes darkened as I looked up at the vampire. "You don't tell me what to do" I said, as I growled at him.  He looked at me in shock, as I continued to walk. "Who are you?" he yelled but I ignored him and kept going. The wind was picking up, as I walked through town.  I was starting to loose my mind at this point.  I was walking like a human zombie at this moment, without the mind to let me know to stop.  I walked into the nearest chaple of the town as I went in.  It was dark with a big mural above the altar, bright and colorful with a rose in the middle. The altar was stone with a blue material drapped over it, and rose pettals spread all over it.  I brushed the petals as I walked over to one of the ends of it.  I watched as the roses formed like  a border around the altar.  The petals formed at the far end like a big puffy pillow on it.  I started to hear a voice again.  It was the same voice that I heard at the shelter. "Eve, a new Eve" it said, as I started to place my hand on the altar. A light flashed as everything turned dark, and the roses brightened up red, showing the dark altar.  I looked around the room, seeing nothing but darkness, and red rose petals that started to drift into the church.  A little whisper brushed through the air. "Lay and sleep. It will ease the pain of your childhood memories" it said as I walked to the end of the altar.

Now it wasn't like I could control my body.  I sat on the edge of the altar, where the rose petal ended, and scooted up. I lied my head on the pillow, as made myself comfortable. The wind brushed up against me, scattering more of the petals, onto the floor in front of the altar.  I felt myself drift into a full sleep, as something wrapped around me.  It draped over me like a blanket bit it wrapped around, feeling like chains again, only more natural.  They wrapped my wrists together as they were pinned to my stomach, but far enough to see my chest where my heart is.  The things then wrapped around my ankles, as they strapped those down too.  I looked up to see vines wrapped around my entire body and the altar, keeping me tightly up against the cement slab.  I looked around, as everything went back to normal.  The petals were now gone, as wolves lied inbetween the pews, resting their heads like they were going to nap. I looked at them confused as I tried to sit up, the vines pulled me back down, and tightened around me. I struggled to move either to get up or to shift on the altar, but nothing happened.  I looked at the wall that my head faced, seeing a black rose on a green vine, just sitting there in front of me.  "What?" I thought as the doors closed, and someone huffed.

"You poor humans. I fell bad for you seeing how your going exstint just like us wolves" a cheerful voice spoke.  I turned towards the entrance of wolves, seeing two different looking vampires, or what I thought was vampires. One had white hair with dark red and grey tips on his bangs. He wore a black coat looking outfit, with a collar that covered most of his face.  The other vampire had the same gold eyes, with a eye patch over one of them. He had blond hair, and a beaded necklas that I could barely noticed. This one wore glasses with one of the lens being broken.  I looked at the two beings in shock, as they approatched. They walked on either side of the altar as they studied me.  I tried to break free but I couldn't. The vines tightened everytime.  I whinced in pain, as I rested my head back down on the pillow.  I started to give up, seeing this was something inhuman, and I was only human.   The two looked at the vines as one sighed.  "Their not hurting you too bad, are they?" he asked, as he looked at me.  I just stayed silent, too scared to say anything. I watched as the one with the glasses examined me even more.  He looked at my face and smiled, but lost it quickly.  He took his hand, as he brushed it up against my neck, as a sharp pain shot through my neck.  "Wow. Look at this. Poor human" he said, as the other one moved my head, so he could look himself.  "And that's the only beginning to what will happen. Those vampires needs to stop enslaving the humans" the other said.  The one with glasses looked up as he spoke. "Should we take her, and help her?" he asked, as the other looked down at me. "Yeah, if we can turn her into one of us, then we can save her life. She'll be able to live into this type of world, and save the humans" he said, as footsteps entered the room as someone spoke.

"Skylar" Ruki's voice yelled through the church. I turned towards him, as I sat up a little bit.  "Ruki?" I asked, scared as can be.  The one with glasses looked at Ruki, as he narrored his eyes,  through his lenses. "You vampires will pay for taking over the human relm" he said, as he gave a growl just like a wolf.  Ruki narrored his eyes as the man as he spoke. "She's my Eve. Give her to me" he said, as he reacked out his hand.  The man looked at him as he sighed. "But you vampires are whipping out the humans. It's not right to have them all as slaves" he said, as Ruki cut in front of him. "She'll die either way.  You will  just turn her to one of your minions" he said, as his eyes glared at the two of them. The one with the purple stripe in his hair lifted a hand up, as he snapped his fingers together.  All of a sudden, wolves circled around Ruki, growling at him.  I watched as Ruki turned around, showing a boy in the moonlight at the entrance of the church.  I reconised the boy.  He was the one that yelled at the guard at the shelter, and I told him that it was pointless. He leaned up against the frame of the open door. "You were the boy that first arrived when I took Skylar" Ruki growled at the boy.  I looked at the boy, as I barely reconized him. Pale skin and glowing red eyes.  He had blond hair that was a little short, but had long bangs, that drapped down to cover his left eye.  He had blood red eyes, that glowed in the night.  He arched his back, as he released sharp, black claws out of his fingers.  My eyes widened as I saw it.

"It's your fault that us humans were put in that prison" he growled as he lunged at Ruki, and went to dig his claws into him.  Ruki pushed past him as he jumped out of his way. He landed on four paws as he completely transformed into a wolf. He had black fur and his eyes were still the blood red.  His claws were out of him, as he growled.  Ruki's eyes looked back at him, as he looked at him shocked.  The wolf growled as he started to walk up to Ruki.  Ruki turned as he backed up into one of the pews. The wolf followed him, as it chassed Ruki to the entrance of the church.  Ruki stopped as he looke at me. "Skylar, I'm sorry this happened to you" he said, as the one with glasses laughed. "No your not. You just want these humans for their blood.  Once us wolves is done with her, she'll only want to take back her world. And us founders will  help them out" he said, as the wolf lunged at Ruki, and scratched hm in the chest. I jolted up at the sight, as I got scared. I pulled against the vines, but it didn't work. I couldn't get out. "Ruki" I cried as I tried to excape but nothing budged.  Ruki dropped to his knees, as he looked up. "Skylar" he said, as he started to take deep breaths.  I looked at him in shock as one with glasses walked up to me, as he started to rub my head. "We'll explain everything when you wake up" he said, as he covered my eyes, and I started to feel tired. I felt relaxed for once.  It was like I was back at the orchard with my family when I was little. I closed my eyes, as I drifted into a deep sleep, not knowing what will happen.
